I think this was back when Pokemon was trying to have a plot and wanted to do something with the whole "Pokemon are aliens" idea. That of course was abandoned when the writers of the show stopped giving a fuck.

I think it was Pikachu telling Caterpie that adventuring will be awesome.

I think it's clear that Caterpie was telling Pikachu it wanted to evolve as soon as possible to show Misty how beautiful Bug-types can be.

I think the poke-anamatronic-island is probably one of my favorites.

Squirtle was such a douche. And when he referred to the 50 foot tall blastoise as bro, I knew it was fucking awesome.

God, episodes used to really experiment and pick at the concept of pokemon. Really makes the current episodes look like shit.

He really wants to evolve, but doesn't think he can.
Pikachu believes in him, though.

Oh hell yeah, with Ekans and Koffing talking! I loved snakes as a kid, so I thought Ekans was cool. Jessie, of course, was already cool by virtue of being a bitchy evil redhead, so it just made her double cool.
