It was postulated in the main thread (in part by you, Sidetracked) that trolls feel the same range of emotions as humans, just that they have different names for those feelings. This makes sense, as we've seen displays of more than just "hate" and "pity" as we think of those things. Also, as a race of conquerors, it seems appropriate that even feelings of affection should be given labels that seem aggressive and/or negative.
