I'd some previous experience with old Flash versions, but it was mostly simple animation and interactive menu stuff (that was a "big" hype back in early 2000's) and after watching some of this games I feel inspired to do some animation such as characters stripping then playing with themselves...

Any advice or tips on how to start?

Get CS5. Forget what you know about the old ways, and with a fresh mind, do a lot of experimenting and tutorials on the new motion tween system.

Once you're kinda comfy with that, familiarize yourself with bones - def refer to tutorials, don't try to just wing it, it can get complicated and it's hard to edit midway.

Then you can step into using the z-axis, but to be honest, I find it hard to use if I'm not using it programmatically. The numbers make sense in my mind on paper, and work in real life, but... you still have a 2D display. You can have several radically different positions that look identical on the stage and just perform completely differently in animation.

That'd be easy to forget, as I never really got too much into it. I'm watching some tutorials on youtube about the bones tool and it looks really good and much better than anything older versions offered. Thanks for the advice, I'll have to try it.
