;_; Usoppn.

No.9057
I love Usopp's manly declaration of friendship. He swallowed all his fucking pride to be a Strawhat, he's taking that shit seriously.

No.9058
Holy fucking shit

Rayleigh is a monster

No.9059
Oh god Usopp

that's the wrong kind of character development!

No.9060
Triple post, eh who cares?

Why was Chopper so shocked?

Did Luffy's bounty increase?

No.9061
>>9059
How is it wrong, he sees Luffy needs his crew and hes fighting through the god damn monster filled jungle to get out of there and find him.

No.9063
So,,,is Silver King suggesting some kind of training? I don't like it but that seems to be what he's going for.

No.9064

That sort of what I figured give he said "What, again?!" What else that's happened to Luffy (that Chopper knows of) before would a newspaper report?

No.9065

I meant the growing fat.

No.9066

That's not really character development, but I get what yer saying.

It would probably be best for Luffy now.

THEORIES

A) Bounty Increase

B) They're now pinning crimes on Luffy he didn't actually commit.

C) Whatever it was Rayleigh suggested to Luffy got him in the paper and it's bad news.

No.9068
>>9067
The bounty seems to be the most logical thing. The public doesn't know about most of Luffy's escapaded like the Tenryuubito punch of breaking from ID, but Sengoku himself told the entire world that Luffy is Dragon's son. Which justifies an immense increase I would assume.

No.9069

Don't hate on the fluffy, dude!

Holy shit, I'm getting tingles reading these chapters. It's all coming back together, and I'm enjoying it so much.

No.9070
>>9061
I think he means being fat.

Rayleigh fuck yeah! I wonder what exactly was up with that ending, though. It has got to have something to do with Rayleigh's plan.

No.9071

I don't think they'd make the Impel Down thing public knowledge. Seems like something the WG and the Navy wouldn't want everyone knowing.

Clever shit, Oda.

No.9073

That ain't fluffy, man. That's obese. I'm surprised he can run without having a heart attack.

No.9074

They already said they won't make it public, didn't they?

Luffy's father is commonly known now though.

Hey, I mean.. he's.. but.. yeah.

I still believe in you, Usopp.

No.9076

Usopp is likely to die of a heart condition

I know you meant to say "or", but this gives me the insanely awesome thought of Luffy punching that guy somehow resulting in the Impel Down jailbreak. Somehow.

>>9074
I'm not sure if they covered up the whole jailbreak, but they kept the Level 6 prisoners getting lose secret.

No.9079
I'm worried about Kuma now

No.9080
>>9079
Well yeah... he had his mind erased after one final act of defiance.

No.9085
Kuma is a bro afterall. Also, are luffy and usopp best friends? I've been wondering this. People always say Zoro is luffy's main man, but luffy and usopp get along the best.

Come on guys, this is easy.
>"They should have all the details of the war sorted out now."
The newspaper Chopper had initially read told him about Ace's imprisonment and death sentance. The same newspaper that the Nyon lady read during Luffy's first visit to the island of women, and sent Luffy to Impel Down to break Ace out to begin with.

THIS newspaper is reporting Ace's death.

What? He already said he read that Ace died before leaving a couple pages earlier. On the last page he's reading a different newspaper.

Why would it show Chopper remembering reading that newspaper then flashback to when he read the first one and say "now what" if it's to something we already knew?

No.9103
9 MORE CHAPTERS TILL 600

No.9106
don't really see why people are so opposed to a training arc. I guess people have just seen the regular ol' DBZ treatment of them. Plus jinbei may be used as a sparring partner and have great comedy gold in the works.

It'll be nice to learn how the concept of haki is applied to luffy's fighting style.

No.9108
>>9106
honestly it would only really bug me if it put off the crew reuniting

No.9109
The thing with Hancock is starting to disturb me.

Sure it's been really funny but that's because it's been treated like a one-sided joke, see Sanji / all attractive women (Him opening up to his inner maiden is hilarious as well).
But now with these important people having 'just as planned' the thing it just seems like Luffy will be with her possibly in an epilogue sense.
I dunno how I'd feel about a Chichi/Goku ending if this turned out to be anything more than a gut feeling of mine. when you get down to it Luffy Isn't the same as Goku, he didn't hit his head as a baby then spend his early childhood living alone in the wilderness, he knows the differance between men and women and that 'marriage' is not edible.

Bah this has gone on a bit. Even if it was the case it shouldn't kick in any time soon right, there's still a lot of one piece left to be go before the end isn't there?

No.9110
  >>9106
Training arcs aren't really good for a series based on adventure and constant travelling. In this sort of setting, learning takes place on the fly.

Speaking of training arcs, if they're so plentiful, why the hell aren't there a bunch of AMVs of this song to compliment it?

No.9113
>>9106

Having a training arc would mean that we don't get whatever is after the training arc until weeks later. For One Piece, character and conflict development through exploration is so much better than set-location shouting and punching logs anyway.

Also only little babies who poop hard in their baby ass diapers enjoy training arcs in the first place.

No.9114
>>9103
Yeah, and it looks like we're getting caught up with the Strawhats again at a slightly longer pace. Wonder if 600 really will be the reunion.

No.9116
>>9100
> He already said he read that Ace died before leaving a couple pages earlier.

What it actually says,
>To think that such a thing would happen to Luffy's big brother, when we met him in Alabasta.

To me, that's talking about Ace being sentanced to death. Not the death itself.

>Why would it show Chopper remembering reading that newspaper then flashback to when he read the first one and say "now what" if it's to something we already knew?
You mean why would Oda show a flashback of Chopper reading the first newspaper ; Then showing him reading the new one - If we already know about it?

If Oda didn't show the flashback, and then show'd Chopper reading the news on his way back- We'd be confused as to why Chopper was so worried and why he was leaving the island.

If Oda show'd the flashback, but didn't show Chopper reading the news on his way back - Well he could have done that. But I think Oda wants to get some emotional impact across.

Of course I could be wrong. I hope I'm wrong. To me this is just what made sense, so I took it for granted as what Oda meant.

No.9117
>>9109
Somewhat related. I found the whole dialogue with Rayleigh and the girls, as well as the "just as planned" aspect of it all kinda contrived. I hope it just seemed that way because of the translation though.

No.9118
>>9117
It was more like when shakki heard where Luffy had been sent she mused that it'd be neat if Boa got a crush on Luffy, because Luffy's a pretty cool dude and she knew Boa when she was a teenager.

because that's all Kuma did, he told Rayleigh either where he sent all of them or just Luffy.

No.9119
Isn't there a problem with Rayleigh being there.
He said he 'left his card' or such back on the arcipelago, but the strawhats cards are homing in on him aren't they?...unless he left something of himself back there for it to home in on...I wouldn't be surprised by this point to find that Rayleigh can function perfectly well without the use of most of his major organs, like a much nicer Davey Jones...

No.9120
>>9119
It seems that the nature of the cards is that when torn they try to repair themselves and they home in on maybe the biggest piece that the person the vivre card belongs to holds.

and since the cards are voodooish in nature and made from fingernails all the piece who their health status the way the piece Luffy had showed Ace's life was coming toward an end. (potentially if Luffy had managed to save Ace, his piece may have returned to it's original state)

... This implies however that Ace had his main Vivre Card piece on him all during his arrest, incarceration, and execution. Since Ace was allowed to keep his pants during all this he probably had it hidden in there.

I guess since they were executing him in under a month's time they didn't want to waste a prison uniform.

No.9122
>>9109
But the "just as planned" thing was itself a throwaway gag. Shakky just has super-woman's intuition.

No.9123
>In summary
Kuma: "Yeah, I'm going to die. Instead of killing the Strawhats, I'm going to scatter them; Luffy to Amazon Lily, etc."
Rayleigh: "Alright."
-poof-
Shakky: "Knowing Hancock as we do, she probably fell in love with him."
Rayleigh: "That'd be hilarious. Here, hold the Vivre Card while I swim to Amazon Lily and check."

No.9124
>>9123

My friend's hilarious response: "Shakky and Rayleigh are totally two married former trolls too old for trolling that do it occasionally to keep their hand in."

i did not like the way the characters were handled in this chapter, especially luffy's. one minute, he was this emo angst-ridden teen and then suddenly, he just reverts back to that innocently curious expression of his.

he completely goes back as if everything was erased, standing there among those demigods in the op world intently listening to their discussion and then eating with the same expression as before. it felt weird for me. i was expecting him to sulk and to feel sorry for himself and for ace and just generally slink away from people to be alone, you know, like how devastated individuals usually act.

...?

I'm... I'm flabbergasted, really. Did you just forget the absolute mindshattering expression he had upon his brother's death? That when he woke up he tore down half a forest and almost rip himself apart in grief. THAT WHOLE FLASHBACK was showing how Luffy came to love his brother in one moment, and accept the loss of another in almost the same span of time. Jinbei choke slammed the boy into a rock and FORCED him to remember to count the blessings in his life and how it's time to take back at least one (ten) thing(s) that were taken from him.

TL;DR, JINBEI TOLD LUFFY TO SUCK IT UP AND HE DID BECAUSE HE'S LUFFY DAMMIT.

I almost wrote "I'M GUMBY DAMMIT" there...

I'm gonna assume that the flashback lasted for quite a bit, and of course, Luffy was mourning for the entire time. Even a whole day is a long time to be freaking out over someone's death.

Your suggested reaction would've been understandable if Ace was the only person Luffy was close to, but he's got eight others to cover for him. That's the important part.

This thread makes me feel uncomfortable because all of the in-depth discussion is making me feel like I'm the only one who was in it for shirtless Rayleigh. Nnnngh. Seeing Usopp and Chopper again was good too, though.
