Holy shit... Who would've thought winding down could still be as intense as the actual war?

These covers are the best.

Also, haha Bonney's ship is made out of food. Apoo and Drake are tied for having the coolest-looking nameless crewmembers so far.

Hahaha Laaaaw. Only you could be both altruistic and a creeper at the same time.

He's managed to be the politest dick I've seen so far in anime/manga. Like, occasionally you come across characters who hide their dickishness with politeness, but he just... he doesn't hide it. He's a dick. But a polite one.

No.6588
It's interesting to see how the World Government is stepping up it's involvement. Even despite the behavior of several Marines such as the Admirals, they're still largely a force for good in a Ocean beset by chaos on all fronts.

But the World Government? Oh man, not only are they douchebags, but it looks like they're only going to keep acting like dicks.

No.6590
>>6588
Speaking of which, anyone else think what Sengoku is doing is going to lead to some sort of defiance against the World Government?

6591
Man. I've never been this depressed by One Piece before. The state of the world is looking terrible, for both the common citizen and the World Government. And the hope for it all, Luffy, has been completely defeated.

It's going to be tense until he wakes up.

No.6592
>>6590
Sounds likely. Obviously, it probably won't be a full-blown rebellion or him staging a coup or whatever, but more along the lines of Sengoku learning a thing or two from Garp about listening to orders.

No.6593
>>6590
I'm hoping he'll take responsibility for what he's done and do damage control around Whitebeard's territories.

Also, yaaay Brandnew's okay! I remember him.

Blackbeard was Crocodile's replacement.

No.6603
Anyone else impressed with the subtle but effective character development that Sengoku was given this arc? I mean, at first he just seemed like the kind of guy who does nothing but stamp papers and bark orders, but we've found that not only does he have powers, he has ethics, too!

No.6606
God...i can't wait for the New World...NNNNNN the fights will be insane!

No.6608
>>6597
Yeah, I have a feeling that Luffy is gonna need some jerkass putts to let loose on, plus the others are gonna need a nice big crew of jobbers to show off anything new they'll be bringing to the table once they get the band back together.

>>6582
Yeah, gonna be interested in who ends up filling up those three positions.

>>6603
I certainly like him a lot more than I did at the beginning of this whole thing.

No.6609
>>6603
Yes. I started liking Sengoku more as both a villain and character after he basically told Blackbeard to fuck off for trying to sink the whole island.

No.6610
I HIGHLY doubt Moria will die. As far as I see it, either he'll melt into a shadow, switch places with Doppelman, or Sengoku will bail him out (Sengoku, as has already been demonstrated, can control Doflamingo).

Then here's a masterful touch Oda put in this chapter,, you remember that panel full of hype pirates celebrating the revelation that One Piece was real? That's Mock Town.

No.6624
Interesting thing I noticed:

It certainly seems, at this point, that Blackbeard is actually one of the weaker members of his own crew. Apply the Magellan Scale: The original five members, Magellan could beat in one hit. Shiryuu, meanwhile, is stated to be his equal, and the new guys beat Magellan within an inch of his life!

I wonder how BB controls them?

>>6622
Well, I'll be damned..

No.6628
>>6624
I think they were saying Blackbeard himself was the one who beat up Magellan in a rematch, probably with Shiryu's advice/information on Magellan.

No.6632
>>6624
Scales like that are generally useless in One Piece, considering that the devil fruit relative strengths/weaknesses against each other fuck up the balance bigtime.

No.6633
SHICHIBUKAI CHECKLIST:

Blackbeard - Traitor
Jinbei - Quit
Boa - Will probably be found out sooner or later
Moria - LOLfired
Mihawk - Said "screw this" and left
Doflamingo, Kuma - (Apparently) still loyal

So, yeah, depending on whether or not Mihawk comes back and whether or not Moria can plead his case, we may have as few as TWO Warlords left.

No.6635
>>6633
No matter what, Kuma will always be Shichibukai no matter what. Even if the original somehow regained sentince and override's his program commands, there will always be copy's of him that will take his place.

Doflamingo is the man that's behind the scenes for the world Government. He won't ditch them unless the situation calls for it. He dos what best suits him for the moment/future.

Mihawk will definitely stay a Shichibukai. I mean, after all, the main reason why he came to protect the Marineford is so he could keep his title, right?

Everyone else, however, is fucked.

No.6637
>>6635
I'm not entirely sure why the WG would fire Moria, though. He only fought once in the war, but it was impressive: he took down Oars Jr! I don't understand what's "too weak" about him...

No.6638
>>6637
Because he lost to Luffy
So far, Luffy hasn't been the other Shichibukai's, so, they don't count.

No.6639
>>6638
But why would they wait until now to kick him out? Were they planning on doing it the whole time and just kept him around for the war? In any case, I'm VERY doubtful we've seen the last of him. Cover story?

No.6640
>>6621
50 chapters is like, what, one, two weeks at most?

>>6624
Considering he just stole Whitebeard's powers, I'm pretty sure that's not necessarily true.

No.6641
>>6639
My guess is, the WG found someone stringer to fill in Moira's spot. Use the war to cover death, etc.

No.6643
>>6635

>Doflamingo is the man that's behind the scenes for the world Government.

Considering his bounty, and how little we know about him, this makes a lot of sense to me. He also runs the slave trade the world nobles love so much.

No.6644
Doflamingo working directly for the government seems kinda... weird, to me. I'd always figured him to be an independent party with his own goal in mind going along with the Shichibukai for kicks.

With his personality and presentation it surprises me that he's taking the role of minion and not big bad. Unless he decides to double-cross or betray the WG, which is entirely possible.

Doflamingo why are you always so confusing.

No.6646
>>6644
I would honestly not be surprised if Doflamingo ends up being a VERY major villain.

No.6647
>>6643
And he does have that weird puppet fruit.

I'm sure that's symbolic.

No.6649
>>6644
Doflamingo is independent, he's just playing the game. His personality makes it seem like he doesn't have any real long-term goals; he just follows orders when he finds them fun and chaotic enough.

I think, anyway. He's definitely hard to figure out.

No.6650
Doflamingo is the only Shichibukai who has not directly confronted Luffy. There's definitely something big ahead.

No.6651
>>6646
Maybe! We really have zero clue about his motivations at this point. It seems like a lot of the major baddies wanted something to do with the new age. Blackbeard's made his intentions clear with the "It's my aaaaage" thing, but Doflamingo just seemed interested in facilitating its creation. I mean, he was all "It'll be survival of the fittest fufufu" but he's never said "I'll make it survival of the fittest."

So, he got his new era. But what he plans to do now, again, who knows.

No.6652
Sengoku has Ethics, it's just that he's willing to be more flexible with them in the name of Justice. However, as revealed by this arc, he actually cares about people and it deeply troubles him when he failes to do what is right/ best for them.

So he's actually not as big of a dick as Akainu or the Admirals. He's just trying to organize the big picture.

No.6654
Ace made a fan-speculated comment about the "Pirate summit" in his introduction. Foreshadowing? Coincidence? Eh.

I'm just amused at seeing Doflamingo kill off ANOTHER defeated villain to advance ambiguous plot points.

No.6656
>>6654
Pirate Summit was revealed to just be a bad translation, the line was 'Meet me at the top' meaning Ace wanted Luffy to meet him again when he was a really strong pirate

No.6657
Calling it now: Moria doesn't actually die here, and eventually becomes an ally/possible redemption target in the same way as Crocodile.

No.6658
>>6651
Im just hoping we get an entire Doflamingo vs Strawhats arc, I know relatively it hasn't been that long ago but we havn't seen a good ol fashion Strawhats adventure since Thriller Bark

Dammit Oda, I hope we find out soon what you have planned for the strawhats and how you plan on getting them back together.

No.6661
Well, Moria still has his two lackeys as well as Perona (with Zoro) who are still loyal to him doesn't he?

No.6666
>>6661
I think Moria is done for but it's truthfully unlikely he will die.

No.6667
>>6666
Unless he dies and brings himself back to life... as a Zombie!

He could totally pull it off with his Shadow powers.

No.6671
>>6666
This has to be true, just look at the post number!

No.6712
So, current situation:

Luffy is unconcious and pretty fucked up

Jinbei is totally fucked as he lost his position as a Shichibukai, the WG hates his guts and Fishman Island is no longer under the protection of Whitbeard. I'm thinking Jinbei is going to be a pretty good candidate for the tenth Strawhat

Ivanakov, Inazuma and the rest of the Okamas are alive and well on Hancock's ship and are probably going to be accompanying Luffy at least until he meets back up with Snaji on Kamebaka Kingdom

Crocodile and Mr. 1 seem to have fucked off to parts unknown and are currently unnacounted for

Buggy, Shanks and their crews are currently getting drunk at a sushi place owned by a gorilla (This chapter's cover is so totally canon) and Mr 3 is probably with them as well

Moria is totally fucked as DonFlamingo and the Kuma posse fuck his shit up under orders of the World Government (Possibly a direct order from the Gorousei)

Mihawk ran off to do his thing elsewhere

Blackbeard and co are set to royally fuck shit up.

No.6713
>>6712
No on Jimbei, for precisely the reasons you mentioned.

His home is fucked.

He needs to get back there, and NOW. He'll definitly be an ally, but he's got his own problems to deal with.

No.6714
>>6713>>6712
What did I say before?

Strawhats get back together, head down to fishman island with Jimbei, handle shit (potentially against "Brownbeard") and as their first act as a New World Crew is establish the Protectorate of Strawhats alla Whitebeard

"THIS LAND BELONGS TO ME! TOUCH IT AND GET MY SANDAL UP YOUR ASS!"

No.6715
>>6712
Jinbei will be the new Vivi.

No.6716
>>6715

Huh, Jimbei's gonna need to lose some weight, then.

No.6717
So, the current list of destinations for Luffy and the people he's with right now is/are Amazonland with Boa to recover, Fishman Island with Jimbei, and Kamabaka kingdom with Iva and the Newkamas, in one order or another. Boa said they were going to her kingdom first to get Luffy treatment, and Fishman Island is probabaly going to be last because that's the most likely place for all the Strawhats to meet up again, or the first place they'll go after they get back together. Jimbei may go on ahead and meet them there or something. I'm wondering if most of the Strawhats are going to be able to find their way back by themselves, or if Luffy's going to have to go get some of them. Also since Robin is with the revolutionaries right now, is she goiing to show up with some of them? Maybe with Dragon? Maybe to meet up with Iva, because now that he's out, he'll probabaly try to contact Dragon again.

Also, this cover is definetly cannon (Secretly wants Buggy to join up/hang out with Shanks for a while).

No.6720
>>6712
>Crocodile and Mr. 1 seem to have fucked off to parts unknown and are currently unnacounted for

That's terrifying.

Possibly Crocodile will set out to find another ancient weapon.

No.6721
>>6717
>to find their way back by themselves
They all have Rayleigh's vivre card, and Rayleigh is getting Sunny fixed up to so to Fishman Island, which means he's in Shaobody, so I think it's safe to assume that the Strawhats can find their way back, it's just finding an available mode of transportation that's keeping them.

No.6727
>>6721
Am I the only one who pretty much completely forgot about that because it was so long ago?

No.6728
>>6727
Yes, yes you are.

No.6729
>>6727

If you watch the anime episodes about where they ended up, most all of them pull it out or mention it at some point.

No.6731
>>6727

One Piece is one of those things were "so long" is a couple of years. Forgetting things after only a year is casual mode.

No.6732
I really wish that Boa would just let Ivankov take Luffy to Okama Island so we can see Sanji again.

and this is only adding fuel to the AMAZON FOR CREWMATE DERP DERP fire

No.6733
>>6731
When I said "forgot" I meant forgot that he was still doing that and the Sunny was just sitting around waiting for them, not forgot that it ever happened.

No.6740
>>6732
Yeah, couldn't Ivankov probably give better health care anyway?

I know if he uses anymore "super hormone boost" stuff Luffy's gonna turn into vinyl or something, but his powers could probably be put to use for a stable recovering, though it would obviously take much longer.
