Nothing new here except the title and cover page, which I will mark spoiler for those sensitive to this sort of illegal topic.whoever said 2 years might be spot on? I dunno
Two years sounds cool to me. But let's wait till we get to read.
Well this was kinda-sorta blatantly obvious after that one month hiatus thing was announced.OH WELL
CONFIRMED 2 YEAR SKIP
>2 yearsThat was me.
>>11130Spreeses... Was RIGHT about something?!THIS SHIT IS CRAZY!
Goddammit Luffy/Zoro stop getting all friendly with Hancock/Perona I don't want them to join.
Interesting thatLuffy seems confident that no one will reach Raftel in that time period. The audience generally assumes that something's blocking Raftel, and so does Law, but is there any reason Luffy should?
>>11134Because no one's gotten to it in 22 years?
>>11135Luffy has no reason to assume that it would't take 24 years.
>>11132>dealwithit.jpgSeriously, I doubt they're going to join, they do nothing for the crew. And even if they do, they're certainly better than say, Absalom or Mr. 1. Stop overreacting.>>11133[ spoiler ] WORDS GO HERE [/ spoiler ] man. :) Also Luffy's with Silvers. Think about it.
>>11137Gah! Of course Silvers would know what it takes to get there.
Well almost the entire chapter is out now but I'm not going to post it because I'm lazy. Someone else post it.
>>11138But he wouldn't take that advice, REMEMBER?! REMEMBER WHAT HAPPENED LAST TIME?
Okay, so let's take stock... Luffy and Usopp will be 19, Zoro and Sanji 21, Nami 20, Robin 30, Franky 26, Brook 90. Chopper entered the story at 15 in reindeer years but we don't know how old that is in human years so we can't calculate his post-timeskip age. Personally I don't want to see them age too visibly, but who knows. Maybe Sanji's beard will grow out somewhat and Luffy will get a little scruff of his own.It sounds a little too long to me, especially since Luffy learned stuff like the Gears in relatively little time, but I'm not about to throw a fit. I'm not thinking, "It's going to be just like when Naruto pulled this shit," I'm thinking, "Now Oda will show Kishimoto how to do timeskip right!"
>>11142Pfft, I meant 36 on Franky. Obviously.
>>11142Franky'd be 36, and Chopper's age is measured by how long he's been alive in regular years. Remember he ate the fruit almost a decade ago, and that a reindeer typically lives around 8 years on average.
>>11142>>11143I look at this time skip and I can't help but think of the last Tenkaichi Budokai of Dragon Ball before it became Z. Remember everyone's response to Goku's growth spurt? I want that with Luffy, I want everyone to go "HOLY SHIT LUFFY WHAT THE HELL?!" But in a good wow sort of way.
2 years huh? Well that's not too bad; though I wish it would have been shorter. As long as they don't age too much physically and in their attitudes and beliefs it should be fine. The worst part of time-skips is that it can allow for an overhaul of a characters traits and mentality without having to go into much detail about how it occurred.
I've seem the other pics, and I can estimate the following from them:Jimbei leaves. Scratch one potential crewmate. Sorry to see him go, but he was pretty broken. We see Zoro at Mihawk's mansion. He's beaten the mandrills but can barely stand afterward. Zoro says something (a guy at /a/ says it's "I'm still going to take your head") that makes Mihawk smile, and it looks like he puts Zoro and Perona up at his place. We then see Rayleigh teaching Luffy about haki. Apparently, there's two types, offensive haki, which Rayleigh uses, and Mantra, which is defensive/evasion oriented. He seems to be showing Luffy techniques to counter opponents Luffy could never beat (Aokiji, Akainu, Kizaru, and Sentomaru). Luffy will apparently learn these techniques through beating up a mammoth somehow.
>>11142God I hope Luffy doesn't get any facial hair. He'd look really weird with it. I mean, his whole thing is being a little kid at heart.
>>11148I knew they'd confirm Mantra eventually. There's an image of Luffy even remembering Eneru as they mention that. Also the very last image of the chapter. DO NOT OPEN THIS UP UNLESS YOU ARE ABLE TO HANDLE BAWWWWWWW
>>11148Semi-right. Jimbei leaves and tells Luffy he will see him at Fishman Island in 2 years, which doesn't really affect his chances either way, and Rayleigh is shown using both defense-penetrating and mantra style haki techs
godfirst Arlong park and then Manga helpers. Why are they being so fucking picky over the spoilers? wish they'd just deal with spoil fags some other way.Much appreciated OP.
>>11155What the fuck are you talking about?
>>11131I know, it's creeping me out too. D:
Everyone ready for One Piece: Shitpudding? This timeskip should not be a surprise to anyone who's been alive for the past month or so, but now that they /confirm/ it.. I have to say.. I'm a bit scared. Not because I'm terribly Naruto biased (which I am), but think about it, which major anime/manga series has had a GOOD timeskip? I . . believe in Oda, though, and I'm sure he won't let us down. Also no, no spoilers, so shut up in advance.
>>11128spoilers, bro.I can't seem to find them anywhere unless an account needs to be made. And, well that's too much of hassle.
>>11158Does JJBA count?
>>11158Why the fuck are you posting in a spoiler thread, then? This could easily go in the general discussion thread, where we've been arguing and counter-pointing each side of the timeskip debate for like, a month now.
>>11158Well, apart from the people opposed to anything post-Frieza, I've never heard any objection to DBZ's timeskips...
>>11158Dragonball, man. They had like, six.
>>11158cut that out.Oda's already prepared for this in advance, and throughout the story we've had characters who have "skipped" and events that unfolded nicely.
>>11161Just to piss you off, little firefly.>>11162You're kidding, right? Those DBZ timeskips were murder (though, admittedly, it was just poorly executed). Again, I'm basing my opinion on bitter old experiences.. and the stigma attached to these anime timeskips. I'm just praying the OP anime doesn't go overboard with it..inb4 "One Piece: *something not needed*" title
AhemAhemAhem
>>11178Oh, hey, I was looking for that! :D
I for one, think Oda is pulling this off fabulously. I won't lose my faith in his storytelling. Definitely going to FEEL this timeskip with the break, and you know he did it on purpose.
>>11164This. Look how well Coby timeskipped.
>>11158>which major anime/manga series has had a GOOD timeskip?Nigga please.
That length of time is quite lame, I'm not going to quit the manga or anything so over the top but still I can't say I'm positive about it.I'll be fine as long as we don't get anything lame like offscreen romantic hookups in the time period, that would maybe make me rage.
>>11158Dragon Ball (multiple, no less)Gurren LagannYu Yu Hakusho (mind you it was only six months, but I think that counts)>>11167in what way were the time-skips in DBZ detrimental? Half of them were "we have X amount of years to train before the threat shows up" and the other two were "and then nothing happened for about 7 years". I mean, I'm not saying you're wrong for not liking time-skips, I just don't see Dragon Ball as an example of bad time-skipping.Also, pretty excited for this chapter. 3 more till go to 600! (god this board is gonna be so dead if he takes September off)
>>11160YES, YES IT DOES.EVERY TIME.IT HAS THE BEST TIME SKIPS.
I FOR ONE WELCOME OUR NEW TIMESKIP OVERLORD
Fist of the North Star's timeskip was rather mediocre. That said it's more to do with tacking on more to a finished story than anything else.
I just want to remind all of you of this.It could be worse, it could be longer.
>>11198
>>11178
>>1117880's hair Nami makes me laugh.
>>11206>I mean, he is spending ---- in Amazon Lily after all. No he's not.
>>11206I can see it now. Grand scale, two page shot of Shichibukai Buggy bursting into the meeting room in Marijoas. Do not want. I also expect Eustass Kidd to become one, too, since he's been put in a pretty dark light as of late.As far as Blackbeard goes, he's just going to continue to grow in his godmod powers.
This might be better off in plot speculation thread, but...We'll find out Aokiji was promited as stated already. But something happened and now Akinu has his place.
