254788 No.254788
THIS is the young man who is alleged to have forced his way into a young woman's apartment and tasered her up to seven times with a taser gun.

Richard Dekker (24) is alleged to have been part of a gang of three men who pushed their way into the woman's apartment in Clonsilla and stole €250 and a mobile phone.

The defendant begged a judge not to send him to jail, on the basis that his mother is ill, and is in and out of hospital, and he is the only person who can look after his teenage brother.

However, Judge Brian Sheridan refused bail and remanded Dekker in custody until Friday.

The accused, with an address at Whitestown Avenue in Blanchardstown, appeared before Blanchardstown District Court charged with robbery.

The alleged incident took place at an apartment in Clonsilla, on September 18.

Gardai objected to bail, citing the seriousness of the charge, which carries a maximum sentence of five years upon indictment in the Circuit Court, and the strength of the evidence.

Defence solicitor Mairead White said Dekker was applying for bail.

Garda Andrew Reynolds said it is alleged that Dekker and two others forced their way into an apartment in Clonsilla around 7.30pm on September 19.

Gda Reynolds said it's alleged that Dekker was armed with a taser gun, and that the female victim was tasered up to seven times.

He also alleged that a mobile phone and €250 was stolen during the course of the robbery.

The garda also said the victim recognised the defendant, and was able to identify him.

Solicitor Mairead White said that Dekker enjoys the presumption of innocence, and he was never asked to take part in a formal identification parade.

Ms White made the point that Dekker's mother is ill, and is in and out of hospital on a regular basis.

She also said the defendant is the only person who can look after his younger teenage brother.

But Dekker remains in custody and is due to appear before Cloverhill District Court on Friday.
