Aboobooboo

If it helps, he does a rope-swing with a man's intestines.

No.19115
I probably will have to go see it. Because the man wants to see it.

No.19121
Was going to see Expendables, then flipped through the paper and "WHOA MACHETE'S OUT TODAY?!" so yes, definitely seeing it.

No.19126
I thought this already came out a few months ago.

Just got home from this movie. MOVIE OF THE FUCKING YEAR. A Rodriguez fan's wet dream. So fucking win. And Jesus Christ, I couldn't stop going "UNF" whenever Jessica Alba or Michelle Rodriguez were onscreen.

>>19109
Also, this is bullshit, it's totally in the movie.

Hmm, yeah.

Why would you lie that's in the movie? All one has to do is see it to see it's not...OH.

No.19136
>>19134
It was in the movie. And there's loads of excellent effects in the movie.

No.19140
>>19136
Like the trailer, you mean the entire sequence, or just that the motorcycle was in it? Why would a reviewer publish that statement if it was?

No.19141
>>19140
I mean that the entire sequence with the motorcycle....him grabbing the minigun, his attaching it to the motorcycle, and his doing a jump in front of an explosion while shooting it...was indeed in the movie. In fact, every scene in the 'fake trailer' from "Grindhouse" was in "Machete".

The reviewer is probably a dick who didn't even see the movie, most likely hates the movie for some reason or another, and wants to dissuade people from seeing it any way they can. That happens a lot more often than most people think. Back when "Alien" first came out, one reviewer actually said that it was so horribly low-budget and silly, that it never once showed an actual alien and simply focused on scared people running around.

I think I'll see this movie as it was meant to be seen...

At the drive-in.

I didn't know you could even do that anymore.

I am blessed to live in New England where the good parts of American culture are still alive in the best way possible. There are 4 drive-ins within driving distance of me. One of which happens to be down the road from a world-famous arcade, the others which have quaint 50's style diners inside of their concession stands.

One of them even has a Sunset Riders arcade cabinet <3

I know we have shitty summers and shitty winters and Boston is full of hipsters, and our post-hardcore scene is the worst in the world, but everything else about New England (especially Halloween) is awesome.

No.19159

I saw Grindhouse at the drive-in closest to me, right before it closed down.

Feels metaphoric, man.

No.19161
>>19158
You just gave me another reason to move to Boston.

No.19162
>>19161

The drive-in closest to Boston is near Worcester, which is like 40 minutes by highway, I think? I live to the North and there are... 2 or 3 in NH that are about that far from me, and the one near Worcester, then I think there's one to the south of the state.

MA is a good place. B)

No.19171
Maybe if you downloaded less movies and went to the theaters more there would be more drive-ins.

No.19172
>>19171
This is untrue, at least in my area. Almost all the drive-ins near where I live closed down to poor attendance that was due to the fact people kept getting their cars stolen by these guys who would randomly climb into your car towards the end of movies, pull a gun on you, and hold it on you until the movie was over when they told you to get out.

Besides, drive-ins are exactly the same as regular theaters, albeit probably cheaper in most places. The 'piracy' of movies affects them equally. Drive-ins just mostly died because people would rather sit in plushy chairs in an air-conditioned room with surround speakers to see a mediocre comedy than partake in a hallowed part of Americana for less money to do the same.

No.19173
There are two drive-ins near my house, but I've never been to either.

No.19175
>>19172
Why would the incident you describe re-occur after even just one mugging? Did the news not get around and did cops not get notified? Is there a news story about these car muggings?

No.19176
>>19172

Much cheaper. $20 a car, so it's between $4 and $10 a person, unless you're a weirdo and go by yourself. But I have never been to a drive-in that didn't do double features, so it works out to $2-$5 per movie. The concession stands are usually more reasonably priced than a movie theatre's, though you usually get less soda, but you're allowed to bring your own! :)

You guys are lucky. I've never even seen one in person, after searching there only seem to about a dozen still open in my entire state, and the nearest one is more than an hour's drive away.

No.19182

Where do you live?

>>19177

Generally I bring chairs and a heavy duty stereo, and when I get sick of being in the car, I set up a badass seating arrangement with my stereo. Or sometimes I sit in the seats until I get COLD, then I go in the car. It's still better than being in a stuffy theatre, in my opinion, and I LOVE double features.

Films like this need to be seen on a Drive In Screen. Shame the two listed nearest me are too far out in the boonies to keep tabs on. Last Drive In I went too was a loong time ago. It was Casper and Batman Forever Double Feature

(Circled Spots are the local Drive Ins home base is in Yellow) everything else is just a theater..though one of the ones in Lexington dates from the late period of '30s movie houses so it might be worth a look. And then there is the Movie Tavern that I might check out since they are playing Machete at the moment.

I NOSTALGIA'D SO HARD. I mean, The first time I saw Batman Forever was in a theater, but second go around was in a drive-in double feature with Casper. Good lord, the memories.

No.19260

It's good, and he's good in it. It's not a very action-packed movie. It *is* very artful. The opening title sequence is gorgeously-shot. The story is one of paranoia, tension and sudden fits of brutal, traumatic violence. And the ending is a tragedy in the best sense. I liked it very much.

No.19263

Wow, I'm sold. I never thought I'd pay for a movie ticket to see anything with Clooney after the Oceans movies, but yet there I go into the trenches, once again. Armed with popcorn, a shit-eating grin, and pessimism, a true good time killing movie theater snob.

No.19297

>Good movies to act in

If only he acted well in them. He is a towering hollywood "star", with very few performances I actually found skillfull. And after the dick waving of those Oceans movies and how fantastic everyone is suppose to be with Sodaburger's fake-hip direction I had had enough.

Maybe it's not fair because I tend to really only look for the best actors to watch, like Daniel Day-Lewis, Alec Guinness, Brendan Gleeson, etc.

No.19301
>>19109

agreed

No.19302
Machete was decent, aside from the shots that were from the trailer looking awkwardly edited into the final cut (especially the mini-gun motorcycle bit) and the climax being a bit meh in some parts.

No.19313
I liked it. It did exactly what I wanted it to do even if those trailer bits were kinda awkwardly edited in. My only issue is that Rodriguez could've stood to use some more actual blood-stains here and there instead of just the CG stuff. It was really weird seeing a blood stain kinda wobble around a bit on the big-screen.
