"As Bill Cosby said....I started out as a child. I started out as a child also, I started out as a young person interested in movies, what I felt about movies at 15, even 20, was very interesting and fascinating to me but from my perspective I didn't know much at that age and I think when anyone puts their ideas out before the public there ought to be some justification for it. Not simply because you're an American living in a democracy, but that you have some experience to know what you're talking about, that you are learned and professional, and if you don't have that...thats what clubs are for, thats what friendships are for. And I do think the internet has distorted that, it has confused what film criticism is...I don't say it to be insulting to anyone, and I don't ever mean to be discouraging, but I am a professional film critic, and I don't have much respect for people who are not, or even professionals who don't follow the profession."

"There should be no film critics younger than 30, before that you don't know much about art, or life."

Don't call yourself a professional, donger. An art critic has no worth to society at all and it's incredibly offensive to actual professionals, such as doctors or engineers, to hear you try to lump yourself in with them.

"durp hurp stay out of my special club i was an idiot in my twenties so everyone else is hurp de durp durp durp"

Meh, he has a good point about experience and maturity, but he's a total ass about it.

Right, as in, he has the seasoned experience and knowledge that comes with maturity, but isn't expressing it as someone whom is mature regardless.

You can say something thats true in a hurtful manner, but one doesn't have to coincide with the other.

I think better advice would have been "If you're going to be a critic, recognize and embrace your own inexperiences and perceptual baises."

If you don't look back at yourself when you're 50 and think about what an idiot you were when you were 20, you wasted 30 years not learning anything.

Aye, but its not a reason to discredit the opinions of those who are that age.

No.17810
You're trolling on like three different levels, OP. This is Armond White, aka the bizarro world film critic who gave Toy Story 3 its first bad review and says that Transformers 2 is high art.

Which doesn't mean you're not an idiot now, it'll just take decades to realize it.

I would link you to the review, but that's exactly what the bastard wants.

The blurb on Rotten Tomatoes:
>Toy Story 3 is so besotted with brand names and product-placement that it stops being about the innocent pleasures of imagination -- the usefulness of toys -- and strictly celebrates consumerism.

Ebert called this guy out on his Twitter the other day, called him "an eloquent troll."

Fucking WHERE?? The Buy-N-Large batteries?

No.17902

He seems to be under the impression that the toys used in the movie which weren't fictional (before the movies was/were made) are there because the companies that own them paid Disney/Pixar for them to be included, instead of them being used with permission because those are the toys the writers just felt like having in the movie.

No.17903

Ebert did more than that. He pretty much broke this guy's shenanigans down.

Of course, that's too much effort when you can always just point out that Transformers 2 is his favorite movie ever.
