>>17223... That the Dalek was shot by River? Yes?
>>17226OH, I see what happened, I was misreading the chart.

OH GOD DAT FINALE. SO GOOD. Ended up buying The Invasion and tracking down a store that sells the new series novels to help ease the wait for Christmas. It's gonna be a long five months.
>>17250>>17251Love for Q to do this crossover for shits and giggles. Maybe as an intro for new Star Trek show in the altered universe. I NEED ME SOME STAR TREK!!!! ITS BEEN TOO LONG!!!!! FUCK YOU ENTERPRISE FOR SHITTING ALL OVER EVERYTHING!!!!
>>17303OH GOD WHAT
>>17303 ... I am a mixture of impressed and horrified.
Maybe I'm dense, but how did the Doctor get out of the Pandorica to have Rory get him out of it? Just an example of wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey stuff?
>>17383Wibbly Wobbly. The Doctor went back and got Rory to open the Pandorica so he could let the doctor out, use wrist-mounted time machine to travel forward, get Young Amy to open the Pandorica in the late 90's and let out Present Amy. Then when all that's done, the Doctor goes back and tells Rory to do exactly what I wrote above.Time makes knots y'see and that event is a closed loop, the doctor of the present had to do it so it could happen in the first place. If that sentence made no sense, it's all right, Time Travel makes EVERYTHING confusing.
>>17383Basically what happened was The Doctor watched Bill and Ted's excellent adventure, and figured it out from there.
>>17394
I've just finished the "Key to Time" series from Tom Bakers run. I was wondering if they did anything else with the "key to Time" or with the white/black guardians? Or is that just something they just dropped?
So, I just found out the other day that Life, the Universe and Everything was originally going to be a Doctor Who novel. Makes so much sense in hindsight.
"Oh great, another scarf."
>>17417There's the Black Guardian Trilogy too, from Peter Davison's run, both Black and White's last appearance.
omg i just love Nine so so much :3he's just so grumpy and srs and mean but then he'll do his derpy little smile and everything's all betterand that captain jack guy... ummm i think i'll definitely watch torchwoodrose is sweet
>>17566From what I hear, Jack...isn't very Jack on Torchwood.
>>17570Meaning he's not trying to put the moves on anything that moves?
>>17572He's less cheerful, less playful, etc.
series one for the first time since it aired here. the good episodes along with the bad.also lol
>>17572He... kinda sorta... brain-fried his grandson.
Torchwood sucks. It's so fucking boring godddddddddddddd
>>18039well having the lead be an "acquaintance" of the Doctor instead of a true companion like other shows might be a problem. Maybe bring in the time displace plastic Rory into the show to start and as River stated swap his head so that he can continue on.
BUMPING WITH ARTS
Two things. One, WHY THE HELL ISN'T TERROR OF THE ZYGONS ON DVD? It's not lost or anything, BBC has all the episodes, or they wouldn't have been able to make the VHS back in '91, and it's the episode with the departure of Harry Sullivan, that's important. So why the hell not? Not even plans for it? What gives?Second, Torchwood Season 4's been announced as officially happening. Called, Torchwood: The New World, it's going to be set in America, (Hurr hurr I see wut u did thar RTD) and it's supposedly going to be darker than Children of Earth.
>>18481British TV companies are pretty shit when it comes to DVD releases
>>18481>DARKERWHAT ARE YOU DOING TORCHWOOD? YOU LEARNED NOTHING? REALLY?
>>18485heh its gonna get soo bad it'll become a super parody
>>18481>set in America>British Tv showOh God
>>18508Are you heavy happy or medic unhappy?
>>18514They're implying that this shit's going to be a tragicomedy.
>>18019what happened to my "rewatching"...

>>18575DDDDDDD: OH GOD
>>18575oh shit, he's a mouthbreather too!
>>18575wait, wait, GET AWAY FROM ME.
>>18575>>18581>>18584>>18601Wonder if Spoony could be talked into doing a play of this. Also I've got an idea for the 12th Doctors Introduction in which he could come in right now as a secondary who stays off in the back or as a way to transition to him in a future time (hopefully a good number of years from now) Alright my idea is that the Genesis Ark was empty and flung back in time by the cataclysm at the end of the battle. It was found by UNIT in the wake of the death of the Third Doctor and a division put the Ark together in a process of using its technology (which they somehow gleamed to be Time Lord in origin) to Clone the Doctor, project was then abandoned since they could not come up with a Catalyst to start the process. Jump to current timeline and 11th Doctor who stumbles over the Ark while chasing something or not and bumps into it which kick starts the regeneration cycle with the Doctor Material inside the rigged Ark. At that point there could either be two Doctors running around or possibly at some future point in time when Matt Smith Passes the Torch in the again somewhat distant future the Ark then opens revealing the 12th Doctor which would be nice to be Sean Pertwee.
>>18605>Sean PertweeHe already went for the job and they picked Matt Smith over him.
>>18609Well maybe they'll decide to start aging up again.
So, it seems iTunes has some of the serials that have yet to be released on DVD on it.For the American releases, they are:Second Doctor - The KrotonsThird Doctor- Terror of the Autons, (First Appearance of the Master.)- The Mutants- Planet of the SpidersFourth Doctor- The Sun Makers- Nightmare of EdenFifth Doctor- FrontiosSo, in case you can't find those on whatever sharing site you use, or in DVDs, this might be the place to look for them. Granted, not all of these ones are smash hits, but if you're a completionist like me, you'll need any source you can get, considering how long BBC takes to put these things out.Note that these are only the serials that don't have PLANNED DVD releases, even vague ones like Meglos. ("2011 or so" was the official announcement on that one.)
>>18623Speaking of official releases, three serials are going to be available in the US in about three weeks.Creature from the PitFourth Doctor serial with K9 and Romana II, involving a blob-like creature named Erato. The Doctor has a rather awkward moment involving Erato that's considered to be one of the most disturbing moments in Classic Who. Already available on iTunes. The King's DemonsFifth Doctor serial with the Master attempting to stop the Magna Carta from being signed. Also robots.Planet of FireAnother Master serial with the Fifth Doctor. More robots and junk, I don't know much about this one.So, if you plan to buy them, (or download them off somewhere, whatever) that date's what you're aiming for. Although they might be available now considering they're already out in Britain and Australia...*checks the usual suspects*Nope, not there.
>Turn on TV, open program guide>BBC America showing Doctor Who>Info says its Ambassadors of Death part 5>Change channel like the Fist of the North Star>It's actually Rise of the CybermenGODDAMMIT BBCA GIVE ME MY CLASSIC WHO YOU FUCKS.

>>18702Oh come on, he wasn't that bad.
Dr. Who is such a strange show for me. I love it, I really fucking do, but I don't know jack about it. All I know is that every single time I have sat down in front of my TV and watched it, I loved it so much you'd think I'd been watching it for years. But I don't watch TV here at school and I've only seen, at most, about 15 episodes. So I was thinking of torrenting it but ... holy shit, i don't even know where to start. all I've ever seen are episodes with the Tenth Doctor and I love him to pieces and I've seen some with the Eleventh and oh my god wat do. Do I watch the old ones? Or just the new ones? Does that make me a bad fan? D: But i really want to watch Dr. Who because I REALLY like it so wat do
>>18762Sure I can help you out.My recommendation is to start off with the beginning of the new series, and work through those to catch up.Now, you're at school, right? So I'm guessing torrents and filesharing sites aren't really an option there. So, here's some streaming options.http://www.youtube.com/user/laurencewhoYes, I know Youtube's not usually the place for the best picture, but this one has the first two seasons in pretty damn good quality, as well as the first two of season three. Pick them up while you can, though, BBC usually searches for them every so often.http://www.doctorwho-episodes.com/watch-doctor-who-episodes/doctor-who-series-3http://www.doctorwho-episodes.com/watch-doctor-who-episodes/doctor-who-series-4http://www.doctorwho-episodes.com/watch-doctor-who-episodes/doctor-who-series-5http://www.doctorwho-episodes.com/watch-doctor-who-episodes/doctor-who-specialsThese will give you links to the rest. Not as good quality as the videos before it, but good nonetheless. The Order isSeason 2Runaway BrideSeason 3Time CrashVoyage of the DamnedSeason 4The Next Doctor (Skip it. Seriously, it's awful and not even remotely connected to the others.)Planet of the DeadThe Waters of MarsEnd of Time Part 1End of Time Part 2Season 5.Now if you can download with those programs I listed earlier, post again, and I'll compile some solid links for you. (Lots of broken links and German dubs to slog through, they like the show a lot for some reason, so it'll take some time.)
>>18764And about classic Who.While most big fans have seen a lot of the classic series, you really don't need to to see the new ones. But if you really want to go through them, I'd start at Spearhead from Space, the third doctor's first episode. He's the first Doctor to still have all his serials available in some format, DVD, online or otherwise, has copious amounts of Brigadier, (see video for info on him) and the companions were actually consistently interesting, instead of just being damsels in distress of the season. Plus, the Third Doctor's got a cape, and people with capes are awesome.
>>18762Watch 9, 10, and 11They are all very, very good, each in their own way.
Found an "Eleventh Doctor's Sonic Screwdriver" today. This thing is so much fucking fun.
>>18859Soon I will have the Trio and then a Tardis. Now all I need is a Matt Smith from the 11th Doctor set since Brits are selling him cheap as a separate.
>>18868...are you doing what I think you're doing?
>>18871oh yeessss. I guess I can have then hang out with Pertwee till I can get a David or Matt figure. And once I get my Grant situation sorted out and my refund proceed get all my books, I'll use a little of what I have left over to get a camera for myself and set up some nice shots of their meetings.
HAHA WAT
>Dirk Gently, the bumbling detective creation of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy author Douglas Adams, will come alive on the screen for the first time in a mystery that stems from his attempted rescue of a cat from an old lady's house. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-11075419
>>18909I never did read Dirk Gentley's Holistic Detective Agency, but I loved The Long Dark Tea Time of the Soul so this makes me so damn happy.
>>18909
Here's a little idea to mix up things for the thread. Let's list ideas or places you'd like to see Doctor Who tackle. I know Centurion just came out, so it might be considered stealing to do something on them right now, but the disappearance of the Roman Ninth Legion would be a great thing for Doctor Who to tackle. Also, please, PLEASE. Enough with the Daleks. I know everyone loves the Daleks, but this is the same problem that happened back in Dalekmania. Everyone got sick of them when they showed EVERY year. Give them a few seasons out of the spotlight. Then in the finale of season...9 or 10, bring them back for a big finale as a surprise like how Earthshock did with the Cybermen, people would love it.Finally, Victorian-era companion. DO IT.
New Dr Who series to be split in two, cliffhanger in the middlehttp://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2010/aug/29/doctor-who-cliffhanger-series-split?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
>>18955I'm okay with this.
>>18955 I'm honestly more surprised it took 5the BBC this long to realize that blowing their load in April makes waiting 8 months all the more agonizing. And the cliffhanger probably involves teh Silence will Fall guy, maybe being the Valeyard or something.
>>18957 Oh god, we just watched that routine in Communications. Are you a wizard?
Oh hey, Who thread, I didn't see you there.I just watched Journey's End for the first time. WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT SHIT
>>19026Probably the weakest of the endings.Even so it was okay.Still MILES above Torchwood.
>>19029'Probably' nothing, that was Batman & Robin level bad.Fucking sliding Daleks around like air hockey pucks.
>>19030There is nothing bad about Batman and Robin, specify Forever if you want to get your point across. And really, it wasn't that bad. Besides, they make up for it ten fold later.
I can't be the only one who LIKED children of earth?
>>19036I dunno, your the first I've seen say anything positive about it though, so what'd you like about it?
And now for another great spoiler roundup by super commenter bluehinter. The biggest news is that one of the two-parters - probably the first - will likely be set in Egypt, and it's rumored to be written by an unknown new writer. (If I had to guess, that'll be episodes 5 and 6, because Richard Clark is directing Neil Gaiman's third episode as well as episode 4, so that means the first slot for a two-parter is 5 and 6.) The series is also filming at the 17/18th century house Dyrham Park, and some third-hand information suggests the story is about "the Doctor in a giant dollhouse!" (Who wants to start a return of the Celestial Toymaker rumor?) And Neil Gaiman's script was originally called The House of Nothing, which might suggest the Dyrham Park episode is his... or maybe they're just doing a lot of house-related stuff this season. Also, no more Daleks!Steven Moffat has given a strong hint that The Daleks will not be appearing in the next series of Doctor Who.Speaking at the Edinburgh TV Festival, the Who showrunner admitted that there are currently no plans for the famous aliens to reappear, although work on the 2011 series is not yet complete. He said: "There will be a Dalek story when we've got a good idea for a Dalek story. [When that happens], there will be lots of different kinds of Daleks."It was confirmed back in July that the festive special would be a Doctor Who twist on Charles Dickens classic, A Christmas Carol. Some had speculated that a former Doctor might come back as the Ghost of Christmas Past, but a trailer shown to a select audience at the Edinburgh TV Festival suggested otherwise, with Matt Smith’s Doctor saying in one scene, “I’m the Ghost of Christmas Past.”At the event Steven Moffat said actor Michael Gambon will play the Scrooge type character, rumoured to be called Kazran. Other rumours suggest the special will be set on an alien planet that looks Victorian, with an alien shark as the monster.
>>19040Actually, I loved Children of Earth Parts One through Four, they were awesome.Part Five was where everything suddenly turned to shit.
>>19036...I actually like most of torchwood. Especially because human error and failure factored into a lot of it's themes. Yeah, there were really stupid parts to it but at the same time there were good parts.
>>19152>No Daleks... Best news I've heard all day. Don't you be lying to me, Moffat.
Why do you guys like shitty tv shows? Dr. Who..Psych..such a sadness

>>19262O0O I WANT ONE!
>>19279Really hoping we see K-9 back with the 11th Doctor. And by see him I mean HIM not that shitty Kids Show nonsense...and it looks like I jumped the gun on payment on RC K9 and accidentally sent a pound less on shipping..but he's gonna foot it and send it anyway. He's earned himself a positive review if it gets here in good time and condition.

>>19374WHY DID I LAUGH.
http://www.comictwart.com/
I thought of something today. You know, despite all this bitching about the Sontarans and the Rutan Host at war with each other, we've never actually seen them in the same story.I think we need a serial where that happens. Have it be the thing that starts the Doctor down the path of the Valeyard, regenerating in a war, and starting to struggle with his now violent attributes. OOH OOH! OR, make it 31st century Earth, and have the heroes that help save the humans from the war, THE AWOKEN SILURIANS!
>Now I bet you're wondering if there's going to be any side effects, and there's not... Unless you've got your mobile phone on you in which case you're going to die.ilu Matt Smith
