Continue Protomen discussion here.https://plus4chan.org/boards/rad/res/2876.htmlWhy the hell don't they use the Proto Pancho any more? I loved that thing.
My only complaint about Act 2 is that it's much harder to tell what's going on without consulting a synopsis or something. In Act 1, the lyrics lay the entire story out in front of you.
>>17162A few lyrics confuse me, like>Works her fingers till they bleed. Some of the pain that she endures would bring a strong man to his knees. What the fuck did Emily do for a living? And how exactly did Wily manage to pin Emily's death on Light? Take into consideration this was a small mining town where they still hung people as execution, so everyone would have known about Light and Emily's relationship. Or by this time it was a larger and more technologically advanced city where forensics would have no problem figuring out that Wily dunnit, or at the very least that Light didn't.Also is it just me, or is the general populace of this world dumber than a sack of shit? Hurr that girl's fiance who made robots to keep us from getting killed must have murdered her, let's do what the creepy crazy power-hungry guy says and hang him. Durr that robot's getting his ass kicked by our oppressors, we should make sure to give him a nice grave when he dies. Hurpderp thanks for killing your brother for us, would you mind kicking Wily's ass as well? A-HURRRRR.
I hate you all for not forcing me to pay attention to this shit sooner.
>>17163Emily worked in the mines/refineries with everyone elseWily was able to pin the crime on Light by using his robot and murdering Emily in Light's apartment.
>>17163>people wanting some other person to fix their problems for them...No, that sounds like most people, actually.
I'm a little frightened for the amount of attention they're starting to get. I mean I'm happy that they're becoming more successful, and lord knows they deserve to play somewhere other than cramped smelly bars and basements, but I don't think I like the idea of them becoming completely mainstream, and thousands of screaming teens loving them only because omg grimdark srs business songs and panther have my babbies, and then a couple years later they all move on to the next thing in black jeans.A hundred loyal fans who will love their musical bros forever > a thousand trend hoppers who like them because they're the hottest new thing. And they are bros. I hear tell they have a habit of hanging out with their fans personally and eating and getting drunk together. They are The Brotomen.
>>17194I would willingly tolerate the trend-douchebags if only because of the well-deserved success it would bring them, but yeah, these guys are fucking awesome when it comes to interacting with their fans, and I hope they can get an even bigger following while still staying somewhat low brow....As long as they hurry up with Act 3 man, it's already killing me! Fuckin'... fuckin' musical geniuses. It's not like I w-want to listen to more of your sicknasty jams or a-anything.
>>17194From the Comm, yeah they're very friendly with their fans.
Also, Act III, given the timespan between 1 and 2, is probably dropping 2013 at the latest.
>>17195Same here. I wonder what they'll do once they're done with their Megaman story. I vote Metroid.
You know, a Protomen movie or stage play would be pretty fucking cool if done right.
>>17163>Durr that robot's getting his ass kicked by our oppressors, we should make sure to give him a nice grave when he dies. Hurpderp thanks for killing your brother for us, would you mind kicking Wily's ass as well? A-HURRRRR.That's... That's the whole point. The city wants to be saved, but they're putting all their hopes on one person because they can't be assed to do it themselves. Hope Rides Alone.
Let's post some content once in a while, eh bros?
>>15137this image on /v/ and the subsequent googling of lyrics got me into themalso, i was suprised about how much of act 2's plot i'd got right when i read the synopsis
http://bit.ly/bIayw1Never heard them actually talking before. God I want to meet them so bad.
>>17163a: i think the rope is just a metaphor for public outrageb: my view is the city had become such a peaceful utopia that crime rates were ridiculously low, especially ones of this nature. then circumstantial evidence would have been enough to spark the public outcry. Lights place, Lights knife, Lights girlfriend. no one else was there so it must have been him
>>17804There is no way to NOT make this sound sexual.
I AM THE HERO THAT GOTHAM DESERVES
God Bless you, Facebook.
>>17816This is not a bad thing.
Just found this on regular /co/. Discuss>Megaman represents hope, he is blue.>Protoman holds rage against the people, he is red.>And Sniper Joe was fearless, he is green.
>>18323We talked about that a year ago and it ended in drawfaggotry that I lost in my old external.
>>18323Also fearless =/= willpower.
I really want to like this band. And I'm starting to.I wish I could make http://www.protomen.com/act2.htm my desktop, music and everything.
>>18452Don't we all.
>>18452You can get the music if you have realplayer.
Also here's just the raw .swf file which you can fullscreen and take screenshots of.
>30th - Hollywood, CA - CIA ••••••Act I>31st - Hollywood, CA - CIA ••••••Act IIYeah sure.
Too bad I have no idea who Emily would be.
>>13199They still use the poncho fyi. At least they did last they were in Texas.
I posted this over in /baw/ but i think it merits a reposting because wtf nurse you're crazy>I am seriously considering trying to save up 300 dollars so I can fly to LA at the end of the month and see the Protomen. Even with all my aforementioned crippling debt. Holy shit, what is wrong with me.you guys you don't even know how bad I want to see these motherfuckers in concert and I don't want to be patient and wait for Nerdapalooza to roll back around or whatever I want to see them in a bigass show god DAMMIT.
Hey, uh, have you guys checked out the Deviantart communities for these guys?becauseholy shit
>>18819There is NO way that picture was there the last time I looked. ...Because it's too awesome.
Fucking. Awesome. Gotta love a band that puts on an actual show. They played all of Act II and "Total Eclipse of the Heart," which is high-tier encore material.Nurse: Commander started crowdsurfing at the end so I held him by the butt just for you.
>>19019Truly, that hand has touched a powerful butt.
>Protomen>Journey coverMy life is now complete.
"The Hounds" from the show I was at.
Did I mention "holy shit"?
>>19060OH MY GOD. I AM SO JEALOUS. I CAN'T BREATHE.
Oh man seeing these guys at PAX in a fucking ORCHESTRA HALL, was the most amazing concert I have ever been too.
Anyone have any speculations/guesses as to what the next album will be about?
>>19492Clearly, a spinoff revolving around their "Beards Going Nowhere," an entire album of Light and Emily escaping Wily's tyranny and living in a man-made utopia of fabulous hair.
>>19019Editor's note: It was Raul Panther, not Commander. All these members and nicknames can get confusing.
i was thinking about HL: Full Life Consequences with a Protomen song stuck in my head when suddenly the two collided. a scientist who is trying to liberate an opressed society. a man who tried and failed and was corrupted by the bad guys. and of course his brother who has to fight him to save the day. and so this was spawned:No one was left who could remember how it had happened, how the world had fallen under darkness. At least no one who would do anything. No one who would oppose the soldiersNo one who would challenge their power,or so Dr. Breen believed...Deep below the dark streets of the city, Dr. Kleiner lived in a run-down tenement. An eccentric and brilliant man.Kleiner was a loner, a thinker, a man of ideas.Ideas forbidden in Breen's society. The society for which he worked. The society in which he lived. The society that he would set free. And so Kleiner worked, far into the night, when the watchful eyes of Breen's scanners weren't upon him. He'd set his skillful hands to the task of creating a device to bring about a change, to create a force to bring freedom, to create a man to save the world.Twnety years Kleiner worked and on a cold night in the year 202X, Gordon Freeman was awakened.A perfet man, an unbeatable machine, hell-bent on destroying every evil standing between man and freedom, built for one purpose, to destroy Breens army of super-soldiers. Ready, willing, prepared to fight
>>19510I... I want to grope one of the Protomen... Preferably Turbolover, but a Panther is fine too. Doom, you are a good man.
I've been told that they're performing in Madison Square Garden sometime soon. I called bullshit because I don't see anything about a New York show on their website or facebook or twitter. Can anyone else confirm/deny, maybe something I missed?>>19525If I was ever in close enough proximity to Commander I think I'd just hug him until I got kicked out. God that dude is adoramanly.
>>19536>small band who play small gigs for a small nerdy fanbase>playing madison square gardenyeaaaaaaaah i doubt that very much
