On this topic, do people REALLY cry while watching anime? I understand feeling stirred by exceptionally well tailored pathos and the resulting catharsis, when things are truly well executed, but crying in front of the TV/computer screen?

I break down sobbing when I watch sad shit in the days pre-period, but that's more from HORMONES HORMONES HORMONES.

Off the PMS I tear up occasionally.

When Rose died in Solty Rei, which was particularly distressing since I didn't even care about her that much beforehand.

Also Suitengu's backstory in Speed Grapher, specifically what became of his sister.

There are other things I've been really sad about, but those two events came pretty much out of left field from what I remember, so they caught me off-guard.

Deep breath, exhale.

The only time I can recall an anime making me cry was One Piece when they had to burn Going Merry. Because you need to understand my point of view on it... It was their home, where they became a family, it was the engine of their hopes and dreams. Imagine if you had to watch your home fall apart and be burnt to cinders... Then, in a soft, sweet voice, it thanks you for all the time you spent with it as it burns.

Gundam 0080...everything about the last episode.

Bernie and Christine fighting each other without knowing
Al trying to stop them, but is too late
Bernie's last message to Al
Bernie died without ever telling Christine how he felt about her
Christine is alright, but she has to move to another planet
Al can never tell anyone about what happened
"Don't worry, Al, there'll be more wars in the future!"

OH GOD DAMNIT MY EYES JUST STARTED WELLING UP
FUCK
Speaking of One Piece Luffy and Ussop's fight over Merry made my cry like a fucking bitch. Actually, One Piece has made me cry so many times it's not even funny.

That one got me too. That fucking sad ass (piano?) version of "We Are" manages to make me choke up every now and then.

The episode of Pokemon where Ash thinks Pikachu wants to stay with the wild Pikachus made me cry like a bitch. Shut up, I was like 10 or 11 at the time

Also, I tear'd the fuck up at "Bang" the first time I saw the Cowboy Bebop finale. Didn't help that I was dog tired from staying up to watch it.

I was re-reading One piece, and after already reading Robin's flashback, (which did wet my eyes anyway--"are you my mother? NO), this line made me she a few tears

Of course I've never full out bawled my eyes out from a sad scene, but I've had my share of one or two tears rolling down my cheeks.

I've mentioned this before, but my dad is basically like Hughes without all the knife-throwing-badassery. When I was born, everyone in my family was bombarded on a nigh-constant basis of pictures of me. I'm 21 years old and he still goes "This is my daughter, she is amazing."

...needless to say, THAT SCENE hit me like a brick wall. One minute, it's "YAY FMA" and the next, I'm crying like a bitch.

See it made me baw like a baby back bitch because Hughes turned into my sort of fictional surrogate father being that I grew up with no father and no real male role model. I looked at this guy and had fantasies of my dad being this kickass military guy who everyone loved because he is just the nicest motherfucker and so damn proud of the fact that I exist.
