Yet another series I keep telling myself to find time for. The fact that it has a sexy scarred lady is itself plenty of reason, but it I know contains even more awesomeness that that.

No.48276
Show was pretty awesome. Never understood why people don't try to turn something like this into a live series and go for DBZ and Cowboy Bebop

No.48277

Because adapting anime into live action series is a bad idea?

Actually, considering how much Hiroe HATED the DBZ movie, I don't think we'll be seeing a Black Lagoon movie. Ever.

I've heard the Great Teacher Onizuka live action series was pretty good.

I never had much interest in Black Lagoon- you could see it had plenty of style, but not much else. Then I caught some bits of pieces about Rock's ongoing character development, which got my attention enough to give the series a closer look.

That's when I realized the shocking truth: Black Lagoon is actually one of the smartest mangas I've ever read. It doesn't try to act like it's intelligent/realistic/sophisticated- if anything, it loves to behave in the opposite fashion- but it has those qualities all the same.

JESUS CHRIST. That was the most depressing thing I've seen in an anime since... fuck, I dunno, Hughes dying in FMA? I CAN'T STOP LOVING YOU from Metropolis?

Fuck, I'm going to go play Tales of Destiny or something.

No.48308
So...Manga, Anime or OVA? I'm only doing one for now.

No.48309
>>48308
Anime. It covers a good deal of the manga, which is heavy on action scenes anyway so you might as well go with that.

The OVAs are effectively a 3rd season, but they aren't all out yet.

I disagree, though not too strongly. My two reasons, beyond a general preference for manga over anime:
-I like the art style. Rei Hiroe's got some nice stuff going on with visual storytelling and does neat stuff with faces.
-The pace of the action in the anime is too slow- not in the visceral sense, but in the sense that Revy & co. are moving too slowly for their heroic bloodshed antics to be vaguely feasible.
-When the discussion turns to underworld politics, I like to be able to take my time & reread any lines whose meaning isn't clear to me the first time around.

All your arguments are blown away by the fact that the anime has Red Fraction.

Same thing happened to me. It didn't help that those episodes happened to be the first ones I saw of the series.

Why... ;_;

I've got mixed feelings on it. First off, there's >>48312

That said, stuff with this style of action seems better off with awesome-tacular smooth-as-fuck animation which I kind of feels the anime lacks...note that I've only seen the first few episodes so I don't know if they pull out all the stops later with their animation budget or not.

But of all the anime series there are Black Lagoon actually lends itself to Live action Hollywood movie the most. Makes a hell of a lot more sense than making a live action Bleach movie.( Which they are doing btw)
