Hell yes Gash Bell.My very favorite "mon"-type mango. How did /jam/ like it?
I used to watch it on TV, but then it suddenly stopped being on TV.Which is a shame.Suddenly Anime on YTV petered out.
>>44563It lasted much longer up there than it did here in the US. YTV had the decency to air at least up to the climactic fight with Demolt, meaning you got to see Gash's final spell (at least in the anime) and the two best heroic sacrifices in the series. Cartoon Network abruptly axed the dub, from what I remember, around the Dalmos fight and the first appearance of Sunbeam.
I heard the anime is a terrible adaptation anyway...
I don't know why Japan loves little boy nudity so damn much...
>>44566Not exactly. It's nearly to the letter bar a few filler arcs here ad there (which tend to be extremely reviled, by the way) up until about a quarter of the way into the third arc, at which point all the evil stars lined up: they were given an exceptionally cruel deadline to finish the series in AT THE SAME TIME AS they were in the middle of adapting the longest and most complex arc of the series AT THE SAME TIME AS the mangaka broke his writing hand, and they had to finish without him due to the deadline.
Obligatory.
I watched like, I don't know, three seasons of this.I still have the boobs song stuck in my head.Hella fun and hella Ikue Otani.
>>44573Oh, the boobs song isn't even the best song.BEEDUR BODUR HENDERO HWANDING!
Gash Bell, literally, made me cry on every. single. chapter.Whether it was from happiness or sadness.STUPID GASH BELL AND THEIR STUPID BEAUTIFUL FRIENDSHIP.
Also, this was the only time I ever went from bawling like a baby on one page...
>>44595...to simultaneously laughing my ass off on the next one. And it huuuurt! It felt like my stomach collapsed in on itself
>>44594Gash Bell is good for BAWWWWWing. The anime even has its own music, which I know only as "that really sad song," that plays whenever someone's about to go out in a blaze of glory.
Why are you so cool, Brago?Part of me sort of thinks he should have won, actually...
>>44599Found it!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i17tip1X5j4When this song plays, you know someone's about to go out in a blaze of glory.
I never watched/read it.That said, the youtube clips are amazing and I really should read this some day.
>>44727Hell, I cried just from that. This series has made me such a girl.
I don't care if she's the most useless character in all of anime, I love Suzume and her cankles so damn much.
I kinda stopped at some point and I don't know why since I really love i>>44595FFFFFFFFFF
>>44740I love her fruit.
This was the saddest moment to me. Especially in the anime. THAT SONG was playing. And if you look closely, you can see that, in addition to his book, Demolt burned Byonko's favorite toy clock, too. ;_;
Hey, here's something cool:Occasionally, in certain closeups of Dr. Riddles, his eyes look very different from how they usually do.Notice anything familiar?
And now, some general badassery:
Some original concepts for one of the villains, apparently considered too weird even for this mango.
>>44810They shoulda kept this idea though. It woulda been awesome.
I loved this fight.
>>44818And this dragon.
>>44819And this song.
>>44820VERY SHIT
>>44822No, that's Victoreem's thing. This is Keith.
>>44823NO! MY GEEK CRED! AAAAAUUUUGH!
Anzu Mazaki, eat your heart out.
PUNT!
The final baddie in this manga would make Aizen run away like a little girl.
And now, some statistics, since I'm apparently the only one in this thread and I want people to notice it. Number of named current battle Mamono in the manga (including Faudo and those only named in the anime): 59. Number of current Mamono spells in the manga (counting Faudo's powers): 355. Longest fights: Gash and Brago vs. Clear Note (9 chapters) Every-fricking-one vs. Demolt (9 chapters and a few pages of a tenth) Gash, Tio, Kyanchome, Umagon, and Momon vs. Rodeaux and Jedun (11 chapters) Gash, Cherish, and Rodeaux vs. Zeon (15 chapters)
>>44854Clear Note was actually pretty lame compared to say, Zeon and Zofis, who were actually relevant to the story.
>>44901Yeah, I thought he was kind of boring, too. At least compared to them.
>>44904I mean, his powers are cool, but he's not all that much of a character, is he? He actually sort of reminds me of a Final Fantasy end boss: shows up out of nowhere wanting to return everything to nothingness for some vaguely-defined reason, more powerful than anything else so far, has a barrage of "true ultimate forms" ending in a big demonic thingamabob straight out of H.R. Giger's nightmares.
Also, Elly, who may be the most adorable character in any mango.
Isn't it interesting how... open this series ended? We've got Gash trying to meet Kiyomaro again, even though there doesn't seem to be a way back to the human world; not even Faudo works anymore. He's also debating whether or not to actually end the battles, having realized how much good comes from them in addition to the bad, and it's arguable whether he'd be able to at all, given that the battles come from a power even higher than the king.It looks to me that if Raiku wanted to do a sequel, he's well-equipped to do so.
