FLCL's a good show, it's just not as world building or story filled as Royal Space Force was. It's really for the animation first and foremost.

The second half of TTGL just felt unnecessary. It looked nice, and it was fun to watch, but it really wasn't needed, and I think the series as a whole suffers for it.

TTGL, FLCL, and Nadia are good works. They're just not as good as Royal Space Force. Like I said, "truly great", great being a step above good.
