Just like the Japanese version, it's mostly the same people who dubbed it the first time, but some are different.

Cause dammit this could use a television broadcast.

From Wiki:

>Like all other Dragon Ball-based anime, Funimation Entertainment has licensed Dragon Ball Kai to be released in North America, airing on Nicktoons Network starting in May 2010, under the title Dragon Ball Z Kai.

Well I guess I'll download it.

Speaking of, did the series actually end in the same way the manga did (or was supposed to or whatever)?

I'm anxious to see how they handle the 'Over 9000' scene this time round.

No.40654
>>40651
Probably the same way they did for the DVD redub (I think it's 8000 in that version, since that's what it was in the original version and Ocean change it to fit the lip flaps, but I don't think Funi needed to).

>>40643
I'm not sure if Kai is over yet, but I think the ending and crap is the same, they just took out all the standing around and scenes which weren't in the manga (you'd be surprised which ones are).

Also, you may eventually be able to just watch it on Funi's video site (or not, not sure how it works with series actually on TV).

Nah, FUNImation has stuck with the 9000 line in all versions thus far , unless they changed it in the Dragon Box (though I don't think they did since OVER 9000 was actually a line in the commercial for it.) Honestly I don't think they've done much to change the script since they did the "Ultimate Uncut" dub back in '05. Why keep rewriting the dub and spending money when you can just use an older one and make that much MORE off of it? Because really, that's all Dragon Ball Z is for the company anymore; the prized cash cow.

Anyways, I'm not crazy about Kai in Japanese to begin with, so I doubt I'll be watching this for much more that listening to the English versions of Dragon Soul and Yeah Break! Care Break!

WAIT, YOU MEAN FUNI IS DOING A FAITHFUL DRAGON BALL Z DUB? HNNNNNNNNNG. I can't believe it, but I think I might have to BUY the Kai DVDs... since the TV version is probably gonna be a good bit different.

Chala Head Chala wasn't in Kai to begin with. Besides, multiple attempts have been made to make an english version of it, and even Kageyama himself cannot do it. Or would you like more mediocre Bruce Faulcnor music or another STEP INTO THE GRAND TOUR?

>>41058
Wow, that wasn't too bad considering the audio source. Schemmel singing is a bit of a surprise; thought for sure they'd get Vic Mignogna to sing it. But it's not Faulcnor so I'll take it.

No.41077
>>41070
Yes. FUNImation managed to some how make Dragon Ball GT worse that it actually was. If that rap wasn't bad enough, they cut out 20ish episodes worth of material, made the first episode a recap mixed in with a mediocre fight, and later released those cut episodes as "THE LOST EPISODES". Oh and all of the in show music was the same kind of shitty generic hip-hop bullshit as that video.

No.43270
>>43269
They're not being thorough because they don't have to, really. Kids aren't gonna give too much of a shit, and it's not like they're releasing this TV version on DVD. Why spend the time checking to see if it all matches up when they can just get it redubbed with english attack names and out and get their money.

>>43255
Dunno, probably just nick being lazy.

Anyways, I'm honestly impressed with not only the dubbing, but how much Nick is letting by with these episodes. Blood is gone, but shit like farmer with the shotgun getting killed actually got left in. It's also nice to have the original score. The actual episode names are something I could've cared less about, but it's nice to see those kept in too. Gonna stick it out through the Saiyan arc (only 16/17 episodes!). The real test will come with the more emotional scenes, like death scenes, or Goku and Vegeta's big fight. If they can nail down the vocal performances there, I'm in this one for the long run.

No.43305

>>44880
There are two pieces of Faulconer's (don't even know if I'm spelling the name right) score that I actually like; the Super Saiyan 3 music and Super Saiyan Vegeta's theme. Outside of that it was non-stop generic guitar crap. Also, the music in Kai is REALLY GOOD. Never paid attention to it as much when I watched the fansubs, but I'm really digging it this time around.

>>44880
She was going to stay on as Freeza, but she couldn't do the voice with the new script for whatever reason so the had to replace her.

>>44872
Not at all, kinda sad that Lani isn't doing him like they had originally planned, but LK is just as good a choice.

>>44865
Yeah, Namek's actually more awesome than most people seem to give it credit for. It gives Vegeta a lot more character development (and is arguably his peak in the series as a character), Kuririn gets a few moments to shine and show that he's not COMPLETELY worthless, and there's even a bit of a theme about how relying on technology too much can be bad. And thankfully we don't get to see the filler in the arc this time around (because this is pretty much where all the really awful filler episodes happen).

Yeah, my big problem with Kai is just how noticeable the reanimated stuff is in comparison to the rest of the show.
