Thought I'd try out for a little activity. How about a drawfag competition. Drawfags can sign up here and compete against each other, one-on-one. Take a request for a thread on /co and see which are more well-received.Let the rules and guidelines be ironed out here. Anyone think they would be interested?
>>35675I'll go back on what I said before and participate in the next one. I draw so slow, though, that my opponent will probably win by default when I don't turn my entry in on time. But in the interest of... well, showing interest... I'm... interested.God damn, did I just type that? When did I become so lame?
HAVE AT THEE!You guys name the time, place, and opponent, and I shall give it my all.
Actually, it just occurred to me. There's quite a few latecomers (myself included). Would it be possible to fit in a mini-bracket for a wild card slot?
>>35688That sounds good, but a few concerns I have is we're pretty much at the finals already, and I didn't plan on more things for this particular one. If we do it again, then I can plan ahead for such events and do a better job next time. I'm sorry.
>>35698Well fine! I'll go make my own competition! With blackjack! And hookers! In fact, forget the competition and blackjack!
Prehistoric Batman
>>35705Good job!Remaining entries due tomorrow night as a reminder.
>>35602
>>35720Good god... it's..gorgeous
>>35720Well done!
>>35720I dunno what I like more. Sexy Roberta in a bikini, Pepper being jealous in the background, or the fact you managed to fit the 'abloo bloo bloo' joke in there.
I'll post mine later tonight, just like last time.>>35720Whoa...
When I hear prehistoric I think caveman. When I think caveman I think of the Captain. When I think of Batman... well... I think of Batman. Here is my second chance entry. I must be a glutton for punishment because I would like to sign up for another round of this.
>>35765 Pic with a background color
>>35603
I actually had no idea who Roberta was until too late.I knew Geers was going to use colors to their advantage, so I focused on blacks. Still, I kind of wish I learned how to use Photoshop.
>>35769Sorry, I suppose I should list as much info with the request as I can and do research myself if it'll help the artists rather than make them research themselves. It'll makes me more useful.I'd also like some feedback on some things.1. The Sunday deadline: I figured it'd be nicer than Fridays since since artists could work on pieces during the weekends, since they might be busy with work/school during the week. Is that okay with everyone?2. If there is another competition, I'm also going to do a "1 request per character" rule. Mainly because it's become increasingly apparent 70% of the requests in drawthreads are Adventure Time spamstuffs (and 20% fetish stuff and 10% legitimate requests) Plus it'll lead to more variety in what gets drawn.3. I was tossing around the idea if we should have people note me their entry on DA in the future rather than post it here when they get done. Some people when we started expressed concern about it, and I figured maybe they were afraid of being copied or we'll end up with a 'Oh crap, I had that idea but he posted it first and now it makes me look like I copied it' or something. Then I'll post them at the deadline night myself ( or sooner if all of them get in before then). The only drawback I see is if not everyone has a DeviantArt. I mainly made the DA so people could note me personally (which a few artists looking to get in on the next contest have already)
can we seriously delete this thread? We all know that referee is asmodeous, someone who we all know for harassing a lot of the artists here because we don't want to draw her requests. And here she is, basically having a request drawn by two artists at a time with no strings attached, and we're basically overlooking this fact.
>>35771I like the Sunday deadline idea for the exact reason you said.
I don't want to be 'that guy', but I was wondering, do we let the people who kind of dropped out without an excuse compete in future ones?Free Glass said he had computer troubles, so that's understandable, but Astro never really showed up after saying she was ready, and it'd be kind of unfair to have the other artist work on something for them to do it again. I don't really want to ban anyone from it or something, but it's just something I think we'll have to address sooner or later.
>>35772The referee is asmodeus? Unlikely, since referee is much more considerate, forgiving, and picking requests that are pretty random and are completely unlike the requests asmodeus was asking. And even so, does it really matter? The drawfags are enjoying the competition and more and more are coming in to join the fun. Who cares who is running the thing if the people are enjoying it.Get that stick out of your ass. You sound just like Rametarin.
>>35771 I like the Sunday deadline. I am busy with work during the week and really only work on a finished art during the weekend.I also support the second idea. For the third point it really doesn't matter to me.
>>35774I can't help but agree. If they couldn't take responsibility the first time, how can we expect them to stick to schedule next time?I may be more forgiving if Astro showed up, but she didn't give any warning, explanation, or even an apology, a week after her deadline. Her irresponsibility is ruining her future chance of joining again, if she cared.Free Glass at least gave us a heads up, and I'd be more willing to let this person join again.
>>35774>>35783I really don't want to ban people from this since it's supposed to be fun, but I suppose it's the only fair thing since it's disruptful for the tournament. So I guess we will.Anyway, no word from Tim, so H moves on I suppose. As for the other two:POWERGAL VS timmyhttp://www.snappoll.com/poll/339729.phpgeers VS Sirhttp://www.snappoll.com/poll/339730.phpVoting closes on Wednesday, then the finals will be given out and we'll go from there. Thanks to all who participated.
>>35786Anyone know why I'm getting a "You cannot vote repeatedly" message when I try to vote?
They worked for me, but here, try these, I unchecked one of the settings to see if it'll work.Hope it fixes it, or I'll switch to another site. They worked the first round.
It says I can't vote repeatedly.
>>35769>Still, I kind of wish I learned how to use Photoshop. What program do you use then?
>>35794Same. I try to vote and I only get the message "you cannot vote repeatedly."
Ok, we'll switch sites since that one is acting weird.geers VS Sirhttp://mypollcreator.com/vote/9880POWERGAL vs Timmyhttp://mypollcreator.com/vote/9881
Alright. geers and POWERGAL won the polls, and H advances, so I suppose the finals will be H VS geers. Congratulations to everyone. For the finals, I was thinking a more abstract subject. The subject is 'Hope'. Draw whatever comes to mind when you think of the word 'Hope' - something that embodies or represents that word, or feeling. The only rule is it must be /co/ related. Does that sound good?If so, entries will be due Sunday at 11:59PM.
>>35854i thought the contest was based off of /co/ requests?
>>35861It is, but I just wondered if we should do something more 'grandios' or 'special' for the finals. If people just want another request we could do that too. Up to you guys.
>>35862 I support this.
I assume by the lack of protest, geers and H are okay with it. If so, entries due tonight.
>>35930 can you make the deadline later? It's labor day weekend and I'm doing stuff
>>35933I guess since it's a holiday, it'll be okay. Is monday night okay?
>>35934Yes, please! Would help me out too
>>35854It might be lazy since it'd be the first thing you think of when you think about hope, but I guess all those lantern pics I did a while back took a toll on me.Anyway, here's mine.
"Hope for all the Aniverse"this is all I'm going to be able to do on this for now :( way too far behind on work. Also, I wanted to try and keep in /co/ related for the contest.>>35943Looks great H, it's been a pleasure.
>>35944Same here, Geers. A big brofist to you, man.
Interesting choices.http://mypollcreator.com/vote/9955We started with 8 (or maybe technically 6...) and now we're down to 2! So everyone gets to decides who wins this tournament! Voting will close Wednesday night at 11:59PM. No matter who wins or how far you got, thanks everyone for competing!
The votes are in and H is the winner of the tournament! Congratulations to you! You win absolutely nothing! Hope you all had a good time with this. (Any feedback comments would be appreciated. Maybe we can do this again sometime.)
Yay H!Also, this was fun to follow, Mr. Referee. Thanks for doing this.
>>35965Comments on the entries would be cool, and why people voted for them. And maybe critique for the drawfags.I also suggest making a new thread for the next Competition.
>>35965Holy crap!Well, I just gotta say thanks to those who voted and the folks who participated, especially geers (who I still believe would have won had he finished his piece). I had a blast!
I voted for H because it felt more fitting with the theme and the characters. Geers did a great job as always but it lacked any emotional connection for me. So I voted for H. Congratulations H!
Guh. I uh. Forgot about this, sorta. In any case, H should've won anyway because anything I would've come up would've been shit. His entry made me smile like a fucking idiot, hahaha.Good job!
Looks like someone felt that this needed nipples.
>>36072I support this line of thinking!
