So here's Jim Kirk, hanging out with our loveable OC pan-fandom bartender, Aidan. Aidan is married and is touting the idea of monogamy with much pride and joy. Jim is just wondering if it comes in pints.

Jim is, in fact, scared of commitment. However, when Mr. Spock informs Jim he "would like to achieve sexual completion together" Jim doesn't find it scary, he just finds it funny. Poor Mr. Spock. It's not easy being vulcan.

Dr. "Bones" McCoy likes Jim too, but he doesn't fare much better than Mr. Spock. However, he has discovered a mysterious sock has been mixed up in his laundry. Who does this damned sock belong to, anyway?! He can't stop thinking about it.

As it turns out, it's Mr. Spock who is missing a sock. In fact, in light of his recent rejection by the captain, he's been morosely fixated on the tragic symbolism of his un-mated sock.

Shortly thereafter, Bones discovers the owner of the errant sock... and Bones and Spock are suddenly sock-bonded! They find this somewhat pleasing, if awkward, and they start getting together to have tea and chex mix, and to whine about how the captain doesn't love them.

Amidst all this, they are suddenly inspired to adopt a kitten and become cat-parents together. Somewhat predictably, they name her "Socks". Or in Vulcan, "T'Socks". (kidding, kidding.) It seemed like a good idea at the time, dammit.

Socks loves wiggly bits of string.

...But Spock and Bones have to buy kibble and kitty litter and toys, and when they adopted her from the shelter she had a cold and Bones had to come up with the proper antibiotics, and it was all very exhausting. Dammit, he's a doctor not a veterinarian!

Spock is grateful, however. In fact, he's become illogically sweet on Bones. Bones is shocked! ...but not entirely displeased.

Jim is still blissfully oblivious of all the goings-on. For now. The End.
