“We should probably clean up here and get out of Jamie’s office before finds us on his desk,” Rictor reasoned.

it's mostly Ric being all jealous of 'Star talking to other guys/girls. 'Star even confronts him about it in a very Shatterstar 'I don't understand what you're doing, but here's my unemotional of why i think you're doing it.' way. The whole issue is really good, but I especially like what they do with Rictor and Shatterstar during it.

How exactly have things settled for this pairing in canon? It is kind of... old in fanon as I remember reading it years ago but it was good then so I'm... nostalgically interested?

it's a lot like the whole Luke Cage/Jesssica Jones thing-- no one really cares, or says much, except maybe for Guido but that gets resolved pretty quickly. In all honestly, they haven't really done much with them yet, but I trust Peter David to get things rolling after X-verse is all done with Second Coming.

They have also had a lot of moments in X-Force Vol. 1 and 2 that basically started the talk of whether the two were canon or not behind the scenes. Loeb was planning on having it go that way, but something happened(?!) and they weren't made official until X-Factor.

On one hand, I applaud PAD for making them canon. On the other, I'm wary of how he's writing Shatterstar.

And quite literally, too.What Rahne did was pretty awful (understatement). She was probably rather messed up emotionally. The real father of her child was presumed dead, and she probably had expected some comfort from Rictor.
What irked me was the way she looked at 'Star right before lying to Rictor. It ggave me the impression that she did it at least partially to upset Shatterstar by taking away Rictor from him. /Extremely/ shitty thing to do, but I guess the truth will eventually come out.

I must say I'm rather pleased with the direction PAD is taking the story into.
As PAD himself mentioned, the relationship between Rictor and Shatterstar is strained by the fact that they are at different points of their emotional development; Rictor is ready to settle down, 'Star is still figuring things out.
I've seen folks @LJ mentioning that PAD should make Rictor flirt with somebody to make him jealous - personally, however, I thought it was a bad idea. Shatterstar is too emotionally confident to be threatened by flirting; he would just see it as a confirmation that Rictor willing to experiment.
Pregnancy, on the other hand? Shit just got serious.

I have a feeling things are gonna get worse before they'll get better...

I think Layla totally knows the truth, but probably won't be too eager to share it with Rictor. If she was feeling charitable towards him, she wouldn't sent Rahne up to his room at such an inappropriate moment.
I have no idea what her motives are, though. Possibly she did it just for lulz.

Agreed, I think Shatterstar said to Ric that him being with other people wouldn't mean anything if he didn't get to share the experience with Rictor. Also in previous comics,when Shatterstar was without Rictor he would always be majorly depressed self-destructive.

And here comes Rahne with the baby saying it's Rictor's and you know Rictor will try to do right by Rahne and take care of her and that baby and possibly call it off with Shatterstar for them. And fuck you know Shatterstar dreads this also, I mean he had no problem thinking Rahne's baby was his but just see the face he made when Rahne was all "oh I wasn't with anyone else" and Rictor immediately hugged her.

I don't think Layla hates Rictor or anything- it was probably just a stupid mistake that she made. It didn't seem like she knew that they were about to have sex.

Something about Layla's demeanor in #207 made me think that she was aware that sending Rahne to Rictor & Shatterstar's room might result in Rahne walking on sexytiems. I don't think she did it to upset Rictor; I think she's making sure that the course of history goes unchanged. Perhaps the defenestration and subsequent emotional brouhaha was necessary to start a certain chain of events..?

Does Rahne even know that she's pregnant with Hrimhari? I read somebody's post today mentioning that she might not be aware that her gestation is faster than normal - she just knows that Hrimhari sacrificed himself for her. I can't check right now...
