ITT: how many times you came when I told you the former Ensemble Studios founders are making a free TF2/Battlefield Heroes-esque Age of Empires.http://www.ageofempiresonline.com/

Blowjobs from heaven.
Dat artstyle.
>My face when there was already a thread about it on the front page
>>90262This is the superior thread.
I cannot comprehend how are they planning on making this a persistent world.
Why would I come at Microsoft raping the corpse of Age of Empires?
Okay, I'm posting this:http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3339872&userid=0&perpage=40&pagenumber=1Which is the Something Awful thread regarding the game. As it's still in closed beta there's not much information that can be given, but Robot Entertainment developer Dunkman has been answering as many questions as he's allowed.I was extremely worried when the announcement was first made, but much less so after reading that. Robot was originally made entirely of members of Ensemble after Microsoft disbanded it, and all those members are still there--some of whom have worked on every single AoE.The art direction looks great, and it doesn't look like the mechanics are going to be at all different from classic Empires. Until information comes out that this is going to be mind-bogglingly awful, I'm going to be optimistic.
>>90320I think you're being overly dramatic.
>>90343Indeed. Age of Empires was already murdered by 3.
>>90346/cog/, kings of hyperbole.
>>90346Was it really that bad?I didn't hear much about it.
>>90410Do not believe this man. 3 was AWESOME. I've owned it since it came out, and I've loved it endlessly.
>>90411So I guess you never played 1 and 2?
>>90455I've played both, actually, and the expansions. Though I played 1 well after 2, but Age of Kings was my very first RTS. I've never lost my love for it--but I love III just as much!Seriously, why do people assume you can't like both? It's this sort of goddamn pathetic infighting that has ruined the Fallout fandom, and it disgusts me to watch it happen to Age of Empires.
>>90469Because both games betrayed their series. Although to be fair, Fallout 3 is a good game on its own, but not in the way that 1/2 was. It'd be better if it weren't a Fallout game at all, because it'd be easier to ignore the awful writing.Age of Empires 3 is just plain bad. Both as an Age of Empires game and as an RTS game in general.
>>90470"Betrayed"? You're talking about the games like they have Snidely Whiplash moustaches and cackle about how they love destroying Cherished Childhood Memories, TM.
>>90470Can you structure that argument or are you just going to make an empty claim?
>>90482Different anon here:I'm with him on Fallout 3's writing if that's what you're talking about. Can't say on Age of Empires 3 since I haven't played it. Which were you asking about?
>>90486The on-topic one.
