So I'm thinking that her powers are entirely in the Giant Robot Hands. Either she invented them herself or got them through SCIENCE! Either way, when she wants to turn into /co/lette, she'd produce them out of nowhere or through a portal if we want to collaborate with /v/, I guess, and she'd grow out of her clothes before the costume appeared. Something for the weirdoes with a transformation fetish.

But enough about me, let's talk about origins.

yeah, so /co/lette was a collaborative effort design wise... but i did name her and i do host the archive of images/collect them so i do feel at least a bit of attachment to a character.

i'm a drawfag without a scanner or camera atm as well, and she's fun to draw.

but, yeah, my idea for the origin? not much of one. she is a girl. not super timid like some are making her out to be, but not outgoing and ridiculous, either. gauntlets give her powers. those powers are plentiful and ridiculous. the gauntlets just came into existence. no need for a complicated creation.

she's a joke character, no real need for a long, complicated backstory, imo. she's fun to draw, she's fun to see, and she's original content. thats all that really matters.

About origins... what about this? She discovers the gloves one day. The gloves are forgotten alien weapons, or something like that, and, as you said, they transform her (make her bigger, curvier and brown).
Also, why getting them out from nowhere? If it's alien tech, they could be absorbed by her body, at will.

the gauntlets have a mode which while giving her luke cage-tough skin, make her skin brown. or some other power.

Well, about her past, we have something to consider: She's /co/'s perfect girl.
So, maybe, we should make a brainstorm on traits of her past. But, this time, things she should have and things she should not have.

Then, we should release the writefags, who would write about her considering these traits, and pick the best out of everything written to decide on her past.

Nothing complicated.

For my part, I would like her past to be related with:
· SCIENCE
· Magic
· Comics (orly?)

And for her past NOT to be related with:
· Rape
· Muties (too easy, too Marvel).

one possibility:

the gauntlets give powers, but not all of them at once. no invulnerability+secret identity=large room for severe wounds going untreated. one possibility is that she got her ass kicked once, managed to live, and was taken in by /co/'s perfect man (thread still ongoing), and healed up. another is that the gauntlets have a healing mode, but in her haste, they scarred over. one more possibility is that the first time she used the gauntlets, part of her body were changed. muscle mass and what not. not to make her SUPAH POWAH'D but to improve her a bit. in the process, skin was torn, but the gauntlets also healed her (part of the initial fusing process)

Normally a shy, timid nerd girl. Maybe actually make her genuinely plain looking instead of hollywood ugly. She's, in addition to being a comics nerd, she's a bit of a conspiracy theorist and paranormal researcher. One night she's out looking at crop circles when a real alien lands there, but the radiation from the ship does massive internal damage and causes a bunch of major lacerations.

The aliens are benevolent and bring her on board to fix her. They've never actually seen a human before, so their attempts at fixing her by accelerating her natural healing process scars her skin and gives her a deep tan. She still has lots of internal damage though, so they start scanning her brain to see if they can get any idea of how to properly treat her.

The end result is her transformation into /co/lette. Of course, they don't know if she'll like her new body, so as a freebie they give her any other superpowers we want to give her, and the giant robot hands too. One of the functions of them is to allow her to revert to her original body, because they didn't figure out how to do that until near the end.

Femanon wakes up, and they explain what happened. She's sent back to her home. She adopts a tsundere personality and starts having a social life as Femanon and as /co/lette, while fighting crime of course.

I like the idea of /co/lette having gravity powers. Lots of fun physics and stuff to be had there. It'd be pretty fun to see her go up against a "hulk" type enemy, making him weightless, then see him desperately try and swim through the air towards her while he slowly floated up and out of the city.

Howabout we make her gauntlets run on potential energy? That is, the energy a rock has stored up when it's right next to a cliff, that can be converted to kinetic energy by tipping it over the side. Only, her gauntlet sucks that energy right out of an object, rendering it temporarily weightless. A totally SCIENCE! idea, but one that can be a lot of fun. Plus, since her gauntlet would only RUN on potential energy, she still has room for lots of other powers that are fueled by that energy.

Um, example. She absorbs the potential energy of a truck. The truck is now weightless. She then uses that energy to fire a beam at a villain. The beam has the same kinetic energy of a falling truck, but with the surface area of a fist. Ergo, the beam is really powerful. Or, she could convert the energy into gravity, making an enemy really heavy. Or use it to make herself superfast, superstrong, etc.

I think her gauntlets should have a sort of deus ex machina vibe about them, similar to blue beetles, with the greatest limit on them being her own ignorance and inexperience.

Jackie Hunter was a normal shy nerdy /co/mrade, except of course for the fact that she was female. One boring, lonely night, she opened up /co/ during a bad thunderstorm, and, being either lesbian or bisexual we'll decide later, opened up pictures of various /co/ women. Jessica Rabbit, Velma, Batgirl, Empowered, Batgirl, Toph, and a few others, plus a Giant Robot Hands picture for the lulz. At that very moment, lightning struck her house's outdoor FiOS terminal, sucking her into /co/ and endowing her with all the attributes of the women whose pictures she was looking at, plus kinetic energy-powered Giant Robot Hands and possibly a tsundere personality while in this form! When released from her computer and finding she could change back and forth under her own power, she vowed to use her new powers to fight crime, uphold justice, and kick the SHIT out of DiDio and Quesada as /Co/lette!

One move has her jumping off a building, grabbing the creature on the way down simultaneously turning it weightless and transferring all the energy from her fall into a mega toss. How big is this monster? Also, keep in mind that she can absorb potential energy, not mass. It's an important distinction. In space, where everything is weightless, an astronaut can throw a five ton boulder. The boulder is very massive though, so he would have to throw it very slowly. It'd look like someone straining to lift something to no avail on earth, but...it actually availing. The catch is that if a person tried to catch the boulder, they'd be crushed.

Hmm...say it takes thirty seconds for a man to throw the weightless boulder. If the boulder is traveling rather lazily along through the air, a person might have three seconds to try and stop it and catch it. That means they'd have to absorb ten times the amount of energy the guy who tossed it exerted. Which means they'll probably be crushed into paste.

I say all that to say, turning a monster weightless isn't going to make it any easier to throw. It'd still have all that mass that wants to keep it where it is. Also, since you want /co/lette to throw him in midair, there would have to be an equal reaction acting against /co/lette. So if the force she exerts is strong enough to send the monster flying, she'll feel that exact force, which would be bad for her. The monster would be the shotgun and she'd be the bullet in terms of action/reaction.

my input for Origin: She's a normal nerdy plain girl, either in college or highschool, depending on how pedo you're felling. Her interests would be /co/ and drawing related. (her alt was drawn a few time with a sketchbook)

Her dad's one of those tip scabs who always comes back with a bootload of useless 'interesting' shit, and the gloves are one of his finds. (he found them in a fridge that was held shut with duct tape or something.)

Have to think of some reason why colette tried them on - perhaps they just wouldn't fit anyone else in her house.

As for powers - don't get tied up in the "How". She doesn't know so it doesn't really matter. The "What" is where we should be really interested now. Now sure we're all tempted to give her super-cool powers to save the day, but this can lead to boring stories and easily overcome obstacles. For each "can" have a "But"

for instance; She "can" reduce or increase the weight/mass of an object within 50 feet of her, "But" she must displace the weight difference elsewhere. so making a 50-tonne crane weightless would mean she would have to increase the weight of something -or somethings- else around her, and if she's not careful, the displaced weight/mass could more problems than the falling crane.
