A year after promising to create a story during the height of the DuckTales 20 Years Later craze, I have finally come through, or am in the process of coming through.

Mickey Mouse, P.I. - Beating a Dead Horse is a hardboiled detective story set in the late 1920's chronicling the first big case Mickey ever took, trying to track down the missing Horace Horsecollar in the big city of Duckburg.

Open to suggestions, critiques, ideas, and instruction on how you folks normally do this whole /coc/ thing.

A little bit of art in the original post, and this one. Illustrations from the story that are up on the blog. Each chapter will have one illustration with it!

This story includes characters from all walks of Disney life, not just Mickeyverse!

You guys are kind of a tough crowd, here.

I guess I'll keep bumping this thing once a week.

Part 3 is now up, with this illustration as a teaser.

I like the concept, and the writing itself is pretty darn good.

However, the only problem I have, and this is really more of an inherent fault, is that I just cannot read Mickey's voice in an abbrasive fashion. It just doesn't seem possible for me to imagine him speaking like a hard-nosed noir dude.
But again, it's absolutely nothing to do with your writing, it's more Mickey's fault for having such a goofy voice.

Yeah, I can understand that. I'm just glad someone is reading!

But I'm actually working to keep everyones personalities intact. It's basically what if Disney and Iwerks had created a noir detective parody cartoon back in the day. The scenery behind the characters change, their circumstances change, but their essence stays the same.
