Ok, well, I thought it was a little silly to make the thread here, but somebody was very insistent about it, so whatever, here we go.

The general idea is to create a nice image that represents the overall feelings of as many boards as possible that gives a semi-infographical and semi-illustrated account of the familial relationships of the boards of 4chan. For example, /jp/ could be depicted as the next-generation offspring of /a/ and /v/, /l/ would be depicted as a dead ancestor, and /b/ would be the crazy alcoholic uncle that nobody wants to talk about.

We ought to try to respect any existing board-mascots (e.g., /x/-tan) to get cues about both the appearance and the gender of the board's anthropomorphic personification.

Pic related, it's along the lines of what I want to do, except I'd like to illustrate the relationships somewhat more... infographically, to use that word again (it should look more like a family tree with pictures on it than an actual picture of a house or something).

Here's some more detailed "steps" I came up with.

The steps involved would have to be:
1. Determine _which_ boards to include. Not all of them necessarily merit inclusion.
2. Determine the relationships between the board through some kind of cross-board process. Ask the boards who they think their bros are, which earlier boards they think they spawned from, etc.
3. Compare information from #2 with objective historical information to identify "generations" (e.g., /jp/ was created after /a/ and /v/, so it is in a younger generation)
4. ???
5. Acquire source-imagery for board-tans for all boards that already have mascots, such as /x/-tan, so as to represent the boards (and their chosen gender) as they would most like to be represented
6. Drawfaggy ??? stuff that would involve rectifying all the different mascots into a single style.

Pic related, it's an example of #6, sorta...

Seems like a good idea. I mean-- it's as old as 4chan itself. But I'm okay with it, in case you're actually going to develop it.

I wonder what /b/'s mascot would be... pedobear? or just someone with add and down syndrome

I've been thinking about how to depict /b/ a bit, actually. Here's the thing: They already have a lot of faces.
I can think of awesomeface.jpg, trollface.jpg, guy fawks mask, cereal guy, that _other_ trollface, pedobear... We could probably come up with a dozen more commonly seen face-themed images, too.
My solution to this is to depict /b/ like one of those multi-headed Hindi deities (pic related), making each one of the faces based on a different image. This would be a good task some friendly drawfag could begin to undertake right now, actually, if anyone is interested in making a little OC...

Ah, yes, this is in fact very good!
Some updates or modifications aren't uncalled for, I think, but if anyone feels inspired to work from this, iamokwiththis.jpg

Just gotta get some willing drawfags... I had at least one when I brought this up on 4chan proper, but now I don't know what happened to them...

Does a plus4chan Family Tree exist? Because if not, it won't be hard to do, just draw a big house with one single room. That's all you need.
