A while back my friend brought to my attention a series of pictures with various Gotham Rogues blended together to create a new group of distinct villains.
I don't know who the original artist is, but that's not incredibly important. Based just off the drawings we had, my friend and I tried to come up with some names and backstories for these new villains.
Now I come to /coc/ to try and solidify and flesh out these ideas, give the characters more definitive stories, and create a new batman universe based around these character concepts.

Then there's Punchline's right hand girl and possible love interest, the Scarlequinn. Pic related.

original backstory was that she was the main act at a popular comedy club, when one day she invited a pre-Punchline Punchline on stage. when he was booed offstage, Scarlequinn was furious. Shit happened, sided with Punchline.

My version- Scarlequinn was the daughter of one of Gotham's biggest, meanest, and wealthiest mob bosses. Jokingly nicknamed "Scar" due to his clear complexion and handsome face, the mob boss made a name for himself for doing anything to protect his only child and his business. One day, Scar is gunned down in front of his 12-year-old daughter, causing her to go a little crazy, wandering her home for days in a sort of trance, her father's empire crumbling around her, until she finds a beautifully handcrafted ventriloquist dummy stashed away and forgotten about in some chest somewhere in the house. Thinking it resembled her father, Scarlequinn picked up the doll and put all her memories into the doll, in essence giving it a life of it's own based off the original Scar. Through her "father" Scarlequinn re-forged the criminal empire through more cutthroat antics than her father could ever dream of. Now the youngest and truly most ruthless mob boss in all of Gotham and most of the surrounding area, Scarlequinn set out to recruit some major players- beginning with Killer Bane. Now, before I continue there, I'll move on to when she meets Punchline. When she hears of a fast thinking, joke-loving, riddle leaving madman, Scarlequinn seeks out this man, believing he would be vital to her criminal empire. When she finally meets up with him, she instantly falls in love with the man's cunning and tenacity, and adapts herself to become more of a harlequinn-esque figure, hoping to catch this Punchline's eye. She then takes on the name "Scarlequinn" as both an homage to her father and this new man in her life.

her powers are- a vast criminal empire stretching across several major US cities and few foreign ones, incredible deal-making and intimidation skills garnered from her charismatic nature, high level of proficiency with revolvers and pistols. Whether or not the dummy Scar is just a vessel for her fathers spirit or an incredibly convincing act put on by Scarlequinn herself is unknown, but the dummy does seem to have his own voice, thought process, and personality drastically different from Scarlequinn's. Since the two are never separated, this allows them to formulate plans and create ideas as two symbiotic partners, and the two always work together to accomplish the task at hand.

Next is the assassin-for-hire Killer Bane.
Born in the swamps of Louisiana and left for dead by his alcoholic father and drug addict mother, Killer Bane was found and raised by a gypsy clan. The clan lived so deep within the Bayou that they went largely unnoticed by the rest of the world. In an odd twist, the gypsies believed that gators and crocs were avatars of their deity, and so worshiped the creatures. Killer Bane grew up believing that the crocodile and alligator were the perfect creatures, and began secretly training in a way that he hoped would make him as tough, strong, and fast as these creatures. What he didn't know was that he had mutated DNA, which granted him (GASP!) various powers similar to that of the gypsy clans sacred animals. When the clan found out, they began worshiping Killer Bane, considering him a divine gift and an earthly embodiment of their god. After a few years, Killer Bane grew tired of the idle life in the swamps, and sought a challenge befit of a god. Wandering the globe, he found himself in a bad position when a powerful Brazilian villain captured him and decided to test a new, experimental drug on him. The drug, known as venom, was incredibly toxic to most regular humans, and also incredibly addictive. Killer Bane, due to his unique mutant physiology, was immune to the more fatal effects of venom, but not immune to it's other side effects. The drug doubled his physical capabilities, but at the cost of rational thought and care for his own personal safety. Contained in an iron prison for his first dose, Killer Bane was unable to break free, despite his incredible strength. he was only calmed once the drug ran out of his system a few minutes later. Further tests proved that his body would begin manufacturing the drug itself on a small scale, but needed specific machinery to increase the rate of production and level of venom-blood content. The scientists that had created the drug built Killer Bane a portable device that would store and refine any venom his body produced over time, and could release it directly into his blood stream via implants in his wrists and neck. For some time, killer Bane was trapped in this prison, before the scientists made a mistake and he was able to escape. now addicted to this new drug and more powerful than ever, Killer Bane began challenging anyone and everyone he deemed a worthy adversary, defeating them one after another. Eventually, he found himself in Gotham City, where he was recruited by the Scarlequinn to help keep the city under her grasp. At first, Killer Bane denied the partnership, but after realizing the amount of carnage he'd be able to cause after siding with the girl, he accepted under the condition that he only had to take orders from Scarlequinn herself. Since then, Killer Bane has created a name for himself as the most bloodthirsty villain for miles, causing fear in full grown men with just his name.

Powers & Abilities: Without Venom, Killer Bane has twice the strength, speed and durability of peak human potential, making him incredibly dangerous. Venom doubles each of those abilities. Sober, he is rather brilliant and an apt tactician, however even the smallest dose of Venom will reduce his rational thinking immensely, sending him into a more feral state. He has created his own dangerous fighting style used to combat the wildlife of the southern US swamps, and is capable of maneuvering alarmingly fast in enclosed environments. he can hold his breath for up to an hour, has senses sharper than most animals, and can swim twice as fast as he can run. His tail is strong enough to shatter concrete barriers in a few strokes, and can hold aloft several adult men. The claws on his hands and feet can rend sheet metal up to a quarter of an inch thick, and his teeth and jaw are strong enough to pierce sheet metal up to half an inch thick with ease. Venom merely enhances his physical abilities, but aside from a faint green glow to his veins and red eyes, there is no discernible difference. In part due to his abilities and also because of how he was raise,d he is an adept tracker and has been known to follow a single scent across entire states before finding his target. He dislikes using any weapon other than his own body in battle, and will only ever travel on foot, often suing Gotham's sewer systems to travel quickly around town. he has hand-picked and personally trained his own small squad of soldiers who swear their loyalty to Killer Bane and only Killer Bane.

Then there's the MadHatCrow, who is my personal favourite (Scarecrow being my favourite villain of all time) of the bunch. When I first went through his power set and backstory, it ended up being very convoluted and just didn't feel right, so I'll be tweaking everything as I type this up.

Jonathan Jervis Crane was always taller and thinner than most his age, and most above his age as well. By middle school, he was already pushing the 6 foot mark, but barely weighed in at 140 pounds. Despite this, he was stronger than he seemed, and possessed double-jointed hips and shoulders, allowing him an incredible range of movement. From a young age, Crane had a fascination with the human mind. Specifically, hypnotism and how fear plays a part in peoples lives. The idea of fear first struck Crane at the age of 6 when he wandered into a field of highly territorial ravens. The ravens attacked the young boy, attempting to drive him out of their field. Afterward, even at that young age, Crane became addicted to that feeling, and then sought to scare not only himself at every possible chance, but others as well. He became a prankster, trying to get the biggest scream out of those around him, developing a bit of a cruel streak in the process. As a result, the other kids around him grew to hate him, teasing and bullying him every chance they got. This only exacerbated Crane's cruelty towards others. It wasn't until high school that Crane learned of hypnotism. He was watching a late night program about fear and how easy it was to let go of ones fears through hypnotism. Watching the program, enraptured by the master hypnotist's words, Crane found a new calling. Training himself to hypnotize others in various ways, Crane began testing his skills by hypnotizing his classmates. He learned to manipulate people, and learned how to hypnotize them instantly, and often without even touching them. Crane even began carrying a pocket watch in a small act of theatricality. It wasn't until his senior year that he realized he could mix his two passions together, and hypnotize people into reliving their nightmares and suffering from their phobias. With his great intellect, Crane managed to receive a scholarship to attend the local Gotham university, where he excelled in psychology related subjects. His turn to villainy came when he was demonstrating the power of suggestion to a class of high schoolers and caused one student to greivously wound another. Crane, arrested and sentenced to jail for 20 years, retaliated against the court and the law. Swearing that he was merely trying to help the students understand, and that the judge and police were all fools, ran and hid from the law. Several weeks later he resurfaced, wearing a torn and tattered suit and top hat, resembling more than ever a scarecrow. With his considerable skill with hypnotism, Crane managed to convince the judge to release several criminals. Regressing into a state of madness, Crane took on the name 'MadHatCrow' and began spreading fear across Gotham partially believing he was helping others overcome their own fears as well as getting the rush he desired from creating and feeling fear. He does retain his original brilliance, and resorts to some cruel and twisted scientific "experiments" which has led him to create a nerve toxin akin to LSD which enhances his own hypnotic effects.

Powers & Abilities: aside from being a master of psychology and hypnotism, Crane is an incredibly nimble person, able to dislocate several joints at-will and being quite strong despite his thin frame. By no means is he in peak physical condition, but he can hold his own against other fighters. Also an accomplished stick fighter, Crane always caries around a small walking cane to add to his fighting prowess and reach. He has developed a dangerous hallucinogenic that makes his own hypnotism techniques more terrifying as well as a small device which compresses the substance and expels it in a fine mist. A mad genius in every sense of the word, Crane is also highly addicted to the feeling fear, but over the years has proven to be less and less afraid of everything around him, leading to more and more desperate acts of cruelty in others.

the next few don't have names or solid backgrounds yet, so I'll just post their photos and a couple bullet points.

this is Mr. Penguin. His story is the most tragic of all. Born disfigured and ugly, constantly teased, bullied, and made fun of, all he wanted was to be happy. Then, while working at a cryogenics lab, he met a tall, graceful, lovely woman, his physical opposite in every way, and the two fell in love. Shortly after their marriage, the woman grew sick from an extremely rare and fatal disease, and Mr. Penguin worked obsessively to find a cure, placing his wife in cryostasis. He will do anything to see his wife returned to the way she was, including break several laws to do so, but he is by no means evil himself. Eventually, the people Pengu is working for decide that they can no longer keep his wife under cryostasis, and in their attempt to thaw Mrs. Pengu, Mr. Pengu runs in to try and stop them. Things go awry, her pod explodes, and the scientists blame Mr. Pengu for his wife's death. The explosion also further mutates Mr. Pengu (who had a somewhat dormant metahuman gene) further, giving him thew ability to survive in subzero temperatures and minute control over ice itself, but as a result he must stay within the confines of a subzero suit when in any environment warmer than 32 degrees Fahrenheit. With his wife gone, Penguin still obsesses over finding that cure, but is even more reckless in his attempt to find it. He also seeks revenge against the few scientists that led to his current condition. Of all the villains, he has the best chance at a heel face turn. Consider him somewhere between neutral evil and chaotic neutral. He doesn't have a name yet, and his powers are scientific genius, subzero adaptations, cryogenesis and cryokinesis on a small level (think intermediate water bender)

this is TwoClay. Or FaceClay. Or ClayClay. or FaceFace. Or, well, he doesn't have a name, either. not even anything close. Originally a very good actor, a "man of a thousand faces," TwoClay was sabotaged by a jealous rival who replaced a normal vat of dyed water with an unknown chemical. During the scene, TwoClay, covered in mud, was meant to jump into the vat to hide from a creature. When he dunked himself in the liquid, it triggered a dynamic change, and twisted half his body into an ugly and disfigured mirror of himself. After the accident, he could no longer find a job acting (for some obvious reasons) and grew to hate the world. His turn to villainy began when he killed the man who ruined his life. TwoClay then went out and killed any director who turned him down for a role. A mass murderer, he simply wants to look like his original self, but despite being able to shapeshift into any other human, retains a mud-like look to half his body when in his "normal" form. This has driven him mad, and he constantly shifts into the form of others against his will, taking on aspects of their personality. Over the years, he has all but lost his original self, and now killing has become a compulsive obsession as he believes it will allow him to recall his original body. However, it only accentuates his multiple-personality disorder. other than shapeshifting into any other human, twoclay can shift his own body parts around and create various melee weapons from himself. Before the accident, he was a master of disguise, able to emulate hundreds of other voices.

Mother Nature, who is the leader and founder of an incredibly active and dangerous environmental terrorist group she calls "Yggdrasil." Wants to see nature preserved and works to stop cities from being formed. has all the physical capabilities as Catwoman, with the plant controlling powers of Ivy, and the seduction powers of both. Can also speak to animals.

This is Jester. he is the Joker and Riddler rolled into one. He is mad, maniacal, and able to come up with incredibly detailed and brilliant plans without a moments notice, and adapt them depending on what's needed. He is a Magnificent Bastard and a master of the Xanatos Roulette and Xanatos Speed Chess. If there is a plan to be made, he has already thought of it and anything that could counter it, and has planned for those accordingly. He is a genius in every sense of the word with a love for the theatrical. He is ever changing in his goals, and his alignment shifts depending on what role he is needed to fill. That is the Jester. He is not to be underestimated.

Of course we're changing twoclay. wtf kind of name is twoclay? Perhaps we could drop "hat" and make it simply the "MadCrow"?
All names are subject to change, should enough people vote for a different one. As it stands, the only ones I really like and will have problems changing are are the Scarlequinn and the Jester. Mother Nature MIGHT change if anybody can come up with something along the same lines but more crazy/evil villain/eco-terrorist sounding. Killer Bane and MHC can be changed if, again, enough people come up with better names.
The only two that NEED NAMES are "mr. penguin" and "twoclay" since neither my friend or I could come up with something suitable. He asked /co/ a while back, but nothing really stood out.

Shame on me, i wasn't even thinking of him :(
I was focusing on just the amalgam characters listed and Bats himself, to which i ask again- should Bats be simply Batman/Bruce Wayne, or should we combine him with another character? Personally, i want to leave him alone. it'll make him more dynamic if our heroes (Batman, Nightwing, Robin, Oracle, Batgirl and Gordon) are the only ones not combined with some other character. Same people fighting against stronger, more capable villains.
