What does /coc/ think of Boph?

I don't think there's been a Boph thread, so here's one. Questions, comments, etc.

This is what Boph would look like with a nose.

Frankly, I think she looks even weirder with a nose.

I'm confused on how it could be such a big deal as far as fan characters go.

She's an albino waterbender with a beak?

Even if she's just an icebender, it could be construed like a mental defect.

I had a cousin once who could beat Megaman games blindfolded, but that god damned first TREE boss in Kirby's Adventure just threw him off. He couldn't beat it.

So bending ice like an earthbender isn't really off in Weird Fanfic Character land. She'd just suck at bending liquid water, or something.

Not a beak, just a crappily drawn mouth, also Boph should not be critiqued/taken serious because she was created to parody the "ORIGINAL CHARACTER, PLZ DON'T STEAL" characters from DA

Icebenders aren't crippled waterbenders, though. Icebenders can do things with ice that waterbenders couldn't even dream of.

Quit saying icebending is a lower form of waterbending. It's different from waterbending like sandbending is different from earthbending. Each can do stuff the other can't. For example, when was the last time you saw an earthbender make a dust devil?

No.2930
>>2925
sand benders ARE earth bender its just the fact that they live in the desert and have nothing to bend but sand are that they called sand benders. also they became experts in using the fact that sand is so grainy like blood bending is just water bending the water in the blood and metal bending is just bending the earth impurities in the metal both are just earth and water bending but not only bending the element its bending the whole environments its in

nothing more

And icebenders are waterbenders who live in a super-arctic world where there's nothing to bend but ice, so they bend ice and are called icebenders.

No, she can see heat.

No.3065
>>3059
Why heat? What does that have to do with Water bending?

Could an Earth Bender who bends Cold Earth see heat? What about an air bender that bends cold air?

No.3067
>>3065
It's a stretch on Boph's side, but hypothetically an airbender could see "NOT-air", IE, particles of earth, things with greater mass and volume than air, or the presence of energy interrupting it's flow.

Or liken to the way perhaps a firebender could detect lower concentrations of energy (infrared?)

So sure.. cartoon-physics, it might be feasible for a waterbender to see stuff that's anomolous to below-zero temperatures. And it's not a stretch to think they could see the liquid in people.

It would definitely be a stretch to go down the line of thinking behind the swamp waterbenders, and their discipline of bending plants.

So..sure.. Waterbending probably only covers the liquid fluid state, down to the solid. It probably doesn't cover heating it into a gas. Sort of a one way conversion.

The only problem is in the sense..
On the one hand, 'IT-ISN'T-COLD' vision would mean that they could see things based on their temperature. In Waterbender's case, that'd mean everything from sub zero to the temperature that water attains a liquid state.

So they either see things based on their extreme cold (which would make living creatures and such stand out like black shadows in a world of light), or they see things based on their warmer temperature..which.. for an icebender wouldn't make much sense, since that'd mean they were blind to ice and snow, but could focus in and zero in on warm blooded life. o.O

No.3122
>>3067
No my point is that Coldness is not an inherent quality of water. It stinks of the stupid fanwwankery logic Boph-Anon is all about.

Boph's thermal vision isn't an icebender thing though. It's the result of her race having evolved on a world with very little visible light (which, incidentally, is also why it's so cold). Her whole race has thermal vision, not just the icebenders. Even the nonbenders.

And of course, as all true Boph fans would know, Boph does have powers besides icebending. For example, she has a stand. Her stand can also icebend, so she's like two icebenders in one.
