New thread. Old one is even more giant then the one before. Episodes if you need them.http://vialou.ovh.org/wakfu/doku.phpLet's try a bit harder to keep this a thread about subbing the episode and take the discussion of the episodes/things related to Wakfu over to +/co/ so the thread doesn't fill up so fast on this end.
Is there an ETA for episode 21 subs? Weren't they almost finished?
>>21832EXACTLY.
Up
>>21832>>21834They were progressing, however as I set aside time in my schedule to do an episode a week, playing catchup has to happen when I get free time.Still planning on having it out before 22 airs.
i thought there was only going to be a new thread when 21 was donei was all excited then you kicked my hopes in the balls :<
>>21850You may note, I didn't make the thread ;)
>>21845great pic
>>21852
>>21850Yeah sorry about that. The old thread is now at 749 posts and has gotten way off topic. I figured a new thread was needed in case Caedo wanted the throw updates our way and people not have to sift through MMO discussions to see what is going on.
oh boy oh boy , ep 22 in two days.

Just saying, Phorreur (Or whatever the fuck that is in French) was translated as Drheller in English. See: http://www.wakfu.com/en/discover/bestiary

Thanks for waiting guys; this is one of the most forgiving audiences I've worked for yet! Here is EP21, softsub first, hardsub when it's done crunching. New font, comic sans wasn't meant to be a permanent solution, and I like the new one; a bit more blocky, bit bigger. Anywho, here's the linkSoftsub EP21: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=8SJU8IYG
>>21933Holy balls, Caedo, you made it! Thanks!

maybe it's just VLC but on episode 21 the font is showing up incredibly small x.x
>>21951It is on WMP too. This wouldn't be readable in a stream.
>>21954MCP + CCCPit's good
>>21951I do have to say, I use SMPlayer and I had to turn the sub styling off to actually see the English subtitles (the French OP karaoke was fine, for some reason).Otherwise, great work and great episode. Now Yugo's Thinking With Portals.
I translated the remaining Mini-Wakfu transcriptions that were on the wiki (6 & 8), but Megaupload's not working for me. Can I just copy the text onto the wiki?
>>21964Awesome, I've been wanting to look at the Mini Wakfus with translations. Don't know about the wiki thing though.
Diggin' the new font! :)
>>21951I'm not even seeing the subtitles on VLC...
Three hours approx. Until RAW.
>>21967>>21951Turns out it's really small for me, too. So small it wasn't even visible at first... Maybe one or two pixels high, and none of the size fields in the subtitles options seem to be doing anything.
>>21970Got it working in SMPlayer. Fuck VLC from now on...
>>21951 >>21954 >>21959 >>21967 >>21971 VLC is essentially considered taboo by most int he video encoding/fansub community. it's so full of bugs and fail that people gave up on bothering with it years ago. The font issue stems from the fact that teh styled sub is built around VSfilter, players like SMplayer use their own internal filters that aren't full compatible with the most modern subtitling methods. Most people will not have the fonts I use, so for the softsubs they're 'packed into' the .mkv, and the player has to be smart enough to know to look for them there. I know I've said it a few times previously, but my releases are tested for full and complete compatibility with CCCP (http://www.cccp-project.net/). If you can't/won't use it and are experiencing troubles, I'd just suggest you wait for the hardsub, as that requires no specific software to play back except a decently modern video player (I hear even VLC can play it without blocking the crap out of the screen on occasion [pic related])
22 is out. I guess you all know that.

Is anyone working on mini-wakfu? I'm starting to think we should at least try to collect the RAWs so if other people come along who can sub/translate we can put them to work. Seems a shame to miss out on this content.
>>21986I can't be the only one that starts humming the tune from Carmen when I see that, can I?
>>22001The raws are all on Vialou's wiki, which is linked in the first post. Mini-Wakfus 1 has been subtitled, and I have made up English translations of the transcripts of 2 through 5 that are also on the wiki. The remaining translations, 6 & 8: http://www.mediafire.com/file/yotynqmehja/Mini-Wakfu6%268.zipUnfortunately, my French listening isn't good enough to translate the raws directly, so I can do no more until someone posts transcriptions for the ones that haven't been done.

>>22030Frenchy Anon? =P
The anon never said his name, beyond replying to "lotsa frenchfags here today" with "indeed I am one, would you like some translations before the subs are released? ;)".I thought I'd ask his name, but now after the translation is done, anybody could reply with his own name... Maybe you could just credit "frenchy anon from /co/". Also, if you need I saved the thread.
http://www.mediafire.com/file/mwmk3mmkicg/22-Rubilax.txt22 script!
How long does it usually take between getting the script and soft-subbing the ep?
>>22042Depends on how much free time is to be had.As always, it's done when it's done ;)
>>22037 >>22028 Well, now I have to wonder which one is more accurate.
Actually, couple of weeks...
>>22045Actually, I'm totally loving having two takes on the dialogue. lordKelson1 spoils the hell out of me with his excellent formatting and good sense of sentence breaks.Having the other script to check my editing on is awesome, as often there are alternate ways of expressing various things, and trying to keep characters all sounding 'like' themselves is quite a chore.
>>22028This one sounds better, at least closer to the original.
>>22049Eh, it's all relative; still requires comprehensibility and localization edits aplenty. Just different takes.

>>22053So that's a third?
3 scripts right? Everyone's like dying to see this one.. hehe :)
Caedo, I don't have a script, will flowers and chocolates do?
I don't have any script either, but I have some raw for Wakfu and Mini-Wakfu #22.This is a personal recording I've made from France 3's DVB-T broadcast.http://www.megaupload.com/?d=6WKYKXSOWell, it may not be perfect; and France 3 kind of spoils it by adding a fucking big dumb logo at the bottom right corner of the screen... -_-However, I do believe the video quality is far better than Ankama's web broadcast. So just download the whole thing, and see for yourself! ^_^>> Caedo:Feel free to use this raw for your subs if you happen to find it good enough.
The quality is definitely better! Thanks for that!!
Hey guys, Lord Kelson says on the wiki that next week would be the "Moon Island" episode again. It looks like we won't get to see episode 23 yet next week.
>>22073:[
>>22065Just grabbing it now. In all likelihood I will release a v2 just like when Vialou provided his tnt's. Those turned out quite nice; only needed a bit of sharpening, no blocking at all.Only reason it'll be a v2 is due to encoding time needed and all that. v1 should be out quite shortly.
>>22075Sweet, can't wait!
>>22073Looks like we'll have to wait for at least 3 weeks to get some new episodes.Basically, there was a special episode planned to air on next saturday; but it seems France 3 found it a little "too" special. So they have talks with Ankama about whether airing it at the end of the season or not.Looks like it's a Nox special episode called "Nox the Watchmaker". Tristepin's voice actor on Ankama forums says it's "very surprising".Then after comes the Winter Olympic Games broadcast, which means no Wakfu at all for 2 weeks.Well, we'll have to be patient again... There's somewhat something good about that though: Ankama guys say this will give them time to refine the two last episodes of the season.
>>22053It`s subtitles, not the script. :)
>>22084But what video do we use it with?

JESUS SHIT I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR EXACTLY THIS SINCE THE BEGINNING OF THE SHOW, IT'S ABOUT FUCKING TIME GROVY DID THE IOP THING AND WENT BATSHIT WHITE-EYE BERSERK
Here is EP22. There are some video issues, that are due to the ankama raw. However due to the awesome >>22065 I will be releasing a v2 as soon as it's done encoding. Hardsubs will be based on that. EP22 Softsub: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=LQZL8WWCOn another note, if the next three weeks are going to be reruns, this might be the perfect opportunity for those with the capability to capture some HQ raws of older episodes. I'm looking to go back and start on the earlier episodes to refresh them a bit. Better source would be most awesome.
>>22092Cheers, Caedo. You are credit.Man I am bummed about the "No wakfu for 3 weeks" thing.
>>22092I know it's been said before, but you and everyone working on these subs is fucking awesome.I dunno if it's been seen before, but I believe a drawfag made this on /tg/ and I just remembered I had it. Take it as a reward or something, I dunno.
So... how does one get softsubs to work properly?
>>22100Google MPC and/or CCCP.
>>22096the cra of battle using bows designed to fire inferno missile arrows it would be glorious and probably overpowered as fuck its nice having a single sub group working on something so i don't have to check everywhere panicking till i find one with an update
I've still had -NO- luck with CCCP Installed it and still no subtitles. Clicking on the video as it plays, the 'subtitles' option is even greyed out.
>>22112I've had luck with watching it with subtitles functioning properly, by using Media Player Classic. It's a small player, but a really decent one.
I'm using media player classic as well, since it's included in the CCCP. I've used it to watch other series soft-subbed with no problems, but I've switched to Windows 7 since then. perhaps it's an issue with win7?Regardless, I don't want it to sound like i'm bitching about the videos. I can't thank everyone involved with the subbing enough for helping us all get to watch this series.
>>22115 1. uninstall cccp, and everything else codec related.2. Install MPC-HC from http://mpc-hc.sourceforge.net/3. Under the MPC-HC options, go to Playback -> Output, and pick EVR Custom. This alone will play everything for you that is not quicktime or realmedia. If you want better quality, you may grab an uptodate ffdshow build, and use that instead of the MPCHC internal filters (which also use ffmpeg, but a daily ffdshow build oughta be more up-to-date). You may also want to set up ffdshow to only display RGB colorspace, so you get proper colors (some movies randomly may have too much brightness, this is cause automatic yuv to rgb conversion usually eats balls in every player).
>>22112>>22115You should have something like this. Do you?
I don't get why everyone says they find trouble with VLC. I use that for everything for so long now and it never fails me.
>>22119Afraid not. I'll scrap CCCP and start over trying MPC
>>22120I haven't had a problem with VLC as well until episode 21. actually, checking it now even 22 is working fine softsubbed for me.
>>22119 You don't need to use DirectVobSub, mpchc already renders all subs fine...
I just wish I could get mpc to override my subtitle colors properly... my eyes are not so good ³3³
>>22092FUCKING AWESOME!
i need Wakfu subtitles separately I would translate to another language plis send me a my mail
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=6RRLDCUQHere's the avi hardsub for ep 22 (with checksum). Subs are on black bars. Enjoy.
>>22141I can offer you only russian version of subs - http://rapidshare.com/files/341080578/Wakfu_Russian_subs_1-22.rarBut, I suppose, one of the venerable Wakfu fans can upload the same archive with English subs.
>>22141You can extract the .ass from the styled softsubs very easily.
Looks like Grovy has a new nickname. The first softsub we got translated it ('Pipoun') as 'Groggy', though Caedo just left it Pipoun (in spite of kelson using Groggy as well). So we have two people who know french using Groggy; anybody else think we should use that from now on?
>>22150As far as I understood, "Pipoun" (Groggy) is the nickname, given to Sadlygrove by his master. In all other cases, nickname should remain the same, as earlier - Pinpin - or - Grovy.
>>22150I chose Pipoun because it's specifically meant to be super diminutive and embarrassing. Sorta like a horrid nickname that a tacky great aunt would give you, and subsequently use in front of others causing you to want to die of shame. Groggy didn't seem to convey that all too well. In all honesty, had I been subbing from day 1, I likely would not have used the Anglicizations of the names at all, and instead would have stuck with Pinpin etc; the only reason I use Grovy is that it's been established.
Holy shit, you guys are fast workers. I can't thank you subbers enough for helping relieve my IB-besieged sanity with awesome French cartoons.
>>22152Established by Ankama itself, mind you. That particular name change was them, not us.
>>22119That's exactly what I have, even though I never touched any settings.
>>22154I was referring to the earlier subtitles of course. If I had started this project I would have ignored the Ankama name changes, as the way I see it, a name is a name and the apparent language should't change that. 'Sides the Anglicizations are often quite....silly sounding, and don't seem to really 'fit in'.
>>22155Neither did I, subs worked fine.
>>22156Besides, Phorreur or whatever it's called works for our language too, as it's so close to 'Forager'.
>>22150>>22154Inconsistent subs are low quality subs. It's been established by Ankama, they made the bed for anglophones, we gotta sleep in it, no matter the personal preferences.
>>22156An entire race of warriors is named after a yogurt brand. Are you honestly worried about silliness?
>>22159If I have the option to set a precedent in a series I certainly will choose the one I feel fits best.We have no data from Ankama regarding names outside of the English character profiles, and certainly no concrete information about nicknames or diminutives. We have no official English scripts, so saying one translation of a nickname is more official or consistent is illogical.I fail to see how I've been at all inconsistant in my work. I continued use of the English names only because previous subtitle producers established them in the 15 episodes preceding my involvement. If Pipoun had been previously translated in an episode as Groggy, for sure I would have retained it.>>22160There's silly, and then there's making things distractingly ill-fitting. Spelling it Yop would be the latter, Iop is a similar pronunciation but is obviously something different. Groggy is also the latter, as it's so obviously a foundation-less pun which has had no precedent in the series, which has already established the gags common to a prominent character. It's totally out of context, and would only work if English non-sequitur was a common theme, which it obviously hasn't been (and even then it fails to contribute much of anything).
>>22161If it's foundationless, then why did kelson use it?Besides, if you're trying to avoid confusion, having a character suddenly be referred to with a french word that none of your target audience will understand has the opposite effect.
>>22162 You'd have to ask him, my guess is he needed something that sounded like 'Grovy'. Also, it's a name, not a word. There is no translation. You can translate the meaning of a name, or the definition of a name, or even names formed by words that have direct translation, but in this case Pipoun (at least to my knowledge and research) has no formal translation. It's just a nickname.Tristepin is a perfect example. It has the literal translation 'Sad pine' So we should obviously call him Sadpine from now on yes? And maybe make his nickname amongst his friends 'Piney' for the sake of consistency. There is no rule for names across languages.Despite how bad 'Grovy' is, I'll take it over 'Piney' and for darn sure will use originals whenever it is remotely feasible and sounds superior in context.
>>22152>Sorta like a horrid nickname that a tacky great aunt would give you, and subsequently use in front of others causing you to want to die of shame.So......"Sadily Gwovily"?Nah, too many syllables...
There are too many of these threads to keep track of now! I have no idea which one I should bookmark!
>>22176This is the current thread, though honestly if you're just interested in releases, you should bookmark http://vialou.ovh.org/wakfu/doku.php instead.
>>22177Straight from the horse's mouth, people:>Yes, I decided to translate it into "Groggy" because of the Sadlygrove/Grovy change but keep "Pipoun" for the final version. ^_^You'll hear no more complaints about this from me, Caedo.
>>22160By the way, if talking about the brands - did you notice, that at least some of the Wakfu races called after brands, but reversed? For example: "Sadida" = "Adidas", "Xelor" = "Rolex". Also I don`t understand, why they mocked Ozamodas so much... :D
>>22180 >By the way, if talking about the brands - did you notice, that at least some of the Wakfu races called after brands, but reversed? Try spelling Rubilax backwards.
>>22180>"Sadida" = "Adidas"The full name of the Sadida class is 'Sadida's shoes', which would make no sense without this association, because the Sadida go barefoot. But yeah, most of the names are backwards or backwards corruptions of something. Crâ is 'arc' (bow), Enutrof is 'fortune', Éliatrope is 'portail' (portal). The world itself is Amakna, which is of course 'Ankama' backwards.
>>22183I thought Amakna was just a town in the Dofus universe? The Temples of various gods are situated there, as well as Amakna Castle, and it seems to have more Zaaps-per-capita than anywhere else in the World of Twelve. Also, in the first episode Ruel speculated that Albert had fathered Yugo with "that lovely-looking Eniripsa from Amakna", so the town still seems to be around in Wakfu's time, albeit probably in a far more diminished state.I feel this is something that should go in the discussion thread: >>40487

Is a modicum of common bloody sense too much to ask for?It should be all right here, since we're essentially a tiny treehouse club that can share episodes without distributing them en masse, but in the future we should be more careful about where we sprinkle links. We know Ankama's going to be releasing the episodes in English eventually, and we can do our bit to spread awareness, but just throwing around the episodes for free rather defeats the point of the whole exercise.

>>22206 I wouldn't be surprised if that someone was an ankama worker. Many companies specifically get people to look on the net for these kinds of things. Also, I've said it many times before, and I'll say it again - those guys are visiting the chan boards.
>>22190That person you replied too was probably linked here from the Wakfu forums. Someone was stupid enough to link the original subbing thread on there. I wouldn't be to surprise if we get a C&D either way.

i mad.what now? someone should dig through the forums on ankama to see if people start posting +4c links. If that has happened, then ask for a mod to delete these threads, and move it somewhere more inconspicuous.
>>22213Ach, I just had a brainstorm about us supplying only softsub files instead of the episodes themselves, so that you need to download direct from Ankama's site and apply the subs yourself, giving you the episode and them the traffic. Then I remembered Ankama takes the episodes down after a couple of weeks.Foo. Although if all else fails, that seems to be the likeliest and most legal way of keeping this project going, just requires a bit of initiative and effort on all our parts.Just had a check, and the +4c-link-giving threads have been deleted from the Wakfu forums. Reason has prevailed, for now, and threads that are actually discussing the show are finally gaining traction.I'm sure there's some compromise we can reach about this...
Do they even have any authority over the plus4chan threads? It wasn't the plus4chan topics that got mod's attention, it was the wiki being posted in a titular topic. I would say that their admins are slow since the forum averages 2 posts per day.
>>22214We could just distribute them over torrents, but that risks people not seeding them.
>>22214> just requires a bit of initiative and effort on all our parts. Yeah I think I can see the problem. Speak no more of this.
>>22208I know as much. My friend Drunken-Novice from deviant art is applying for a job there and have talked to some ankama dudes that are obviusly aware of our existence
>>22215Is Wakfu licensed in the same country the +4c servers are located?
Episode 20 at 7:42> It's starting to get hot and dry.> Something something something something*fall off cliff*What was said there?
>>22220Meant Episode 21Same episode at 12:05 now.He is thinking something about Xelor magic that Nox is using but, that is all I can get from it.The softsubs seem to be missing the translations at these parts.
>>2222121 again at 13:51, not translated for some reason.
>>22223>>22221>>22220Just checked all three, and the subs are all there. Are you using VLC?
If they would just release English episodes (subbed or dubbed) we wouldn't have this issue. They're going to anyway, might as well do it sooner rather than later.
>>22223>>22221Verified as well, and checked the files. The only thing I can figure is at those times I incorporate italics to convey thought (not spoken dialogue). perhaps whatever sub render filter you're using has issues with italics. All fonts are packed in the .mkv as well.
I has a question:http://www.ankama.com/fr/60-video-ankama/2385-inside-ankama-0Is this worth translating?
>>22210Shiiit... too bad about your page Vialou. :( This should not have had to happen.

>>22210hey vialou, any way of reaching you privately?
So what gonna happen next? can still post series download here or what?
can we still download wakfu episode in megaupload or rapid?
What should we do?! if we can't download it... it's going to be BIG PROBLEM!!!! Not all country can watch this series! That's why people keep search to download!
>>22235>>22236>>22241one thing we won't do is spaz outwe were doing fine without the wiki, just with plus4chan alone. Just check this threadalso>>22188there's your linksand ep23 is 3 weeks late, so don't pop a blood vessel
>>22236tl;dr: yes. There have been times when RS removed content and reported uploaders' details, but they said they would stop.I'm not sure about +4c.If worst comes to worst and subbers can't continue on /coc/, then lurk /co/ proper for links. 4chan moves faster than legal teams (unless said legal team starts lurking 4chan like pros, in which case it'll cost them money but not bring any results).Even then, legal teams are likely to be sent on a wild goose chase. Data moves extremely quickly, and removing one source with legal action is likely to make several new copies of that source pop up. If this goes further (I hope it does not), there are a myriad of ways to get around it.Whoever posted them direct links is bad, and should feel bad about it.
>>22204Hardsubs would be nice.
>>22214>Ach, I just had a brainstorm about us supplying only softsub files instead of the episodes themselves, so that you need to download direct from Ankama's site and apply the subs yourself, giving you the episode and them the traffic. Then I remembered Ankama takes the episodes down after a couple of weeks. The only way to keep this legal is to just supply the softsubs. In a couple months they'll probably start releasing the DVDs, and then the softsubs will be legally useful. All it means is that the English (and Russian) folks can't watch along with the Frenchies.I'm not really sure what everyone's so up in arms about; obviously distributing the episodes for free is illegal, and Ankama didn't do anything wrong by busting us. Not to sound cavalier about it, but if you really want to support this show, buy the DVDs when they come out. Don't complain when the production company tries to stop us from illegally using their episodes.
>>22245An excellent point regarding DVDs. Yes, those would be a perfect reason for just supplying softsubs, since French DVDs are a) much more likely to be released sometime soon and b) represent a revenue stream for Ankama that can extend outside of France without costing them a penny. It would keep everything here above board and allow our little club to have a helpful reason to exist.Of course, this is all moot if the DVDs have English subtitles to start with. Which is hardly a bad result, when you think about it. When FLCL was first released, GAINAX was so impressed by the speed and scale of the English subbing community's response that they stuck English subtitles on the Japanese releases from the second DVD onwards.
>>22245FUCK SHIT BITCHTHEY ARE NOT SELLING DVD'S YETARE YOU IMPLYING I WON'T BUY DVD'S?This is a pointless assertion of power. I checked the forums, there are still links to plus4chan, some half a year old. They do not care about stopping fansubbers, if they did, this project would have stopped at episode fucking TEN. They simply want to show us that they have... umm... "le grande willy".>>22246Well i hope you're right. Considering how slowly they're translating the game... (not even the training is translated)... i am slightly underconfident. But there's hoping. On a side note, the art book is 35Euro. Worth it? And if so, should i scan it when i buy it, or too unfair to Ankama?
>>22204Yes, I need hardsubs of Episodes 20, 21 and 22, if available. :(
Just continue as we were with this thread. I for one don't want dozens to questions regarding attaching subs to the raws if subs were all that we released. Legality be damned, it didn't worry us before, it shouldn't now.
>>22226>>22228I am using MPC with CCCP.Just check and they are showing up now. The only thing I can think of was that I was watching it while running some spyware checking programs. I guess those ate enough resources for those parts not to appear.Sorry for the concern.
Hi guise, can you point to me where are the hq episodes? and are they subbed?inb4 links arehere>>22199>>22203>>22204>>22188
>>22221I had a similar problem like this with the softsub for episode 21. Since I'm using Linux I only have MPlayer available (just like any OS X users). It starts outputting many glyph errors whenever there should be subtitles, instead of displaying the subtitle. Likely there has been a change on the encoding or typesetting side.In episode 22 something slightly similar happens. The subtitles largely use a default font (an ASS error is seen related to font request ("Gorilla Milkshake" lol)) unless two different lines are on screen at the same time (example at 12:38), in which case the later line uses a different font. Of course this could be on purpose, but I wouldn't know that. Thanks for the subbing to whomever is subbing the show.
>>22254Links are here>>22199 >>22203 >>22204 >>22188
>>22246>Of course, this is all moot if the DVDs have English subtitles to start with.In my experience, French DVDs of French material don't usually come with English subtitles; those are usually added for international releases. But Ankama is fully aware that there's an English market for Wakfu, so they just may include subtitles. Don't get your hopes up, though.>>22248>FUCK SHIT BITCH>THEY ARE NOT SELLING DVD'S YET>ARE YOU IMPLYING I WON'T BUY DVD'S? I'm implying that if someone's planning on buying the DVDs, they shouldn't be complaining that Vialou was told to C&D distributing raw episodes.Ankama's 'crackdown' might be a sign that a DVD release is forthcoming. Like you said, they've known about us for a long time, so they were probably allowing us to rake in an international audience and only stop us when it would start to hurt sales.
>>22256 All fonts required by each episode are packed into the .mkv as attachments. It must be a limitation of whatever flavor of mplayer you're using. Either it's not splitting properly, or it's not smart enough to know to look there. I'm pretty sure there's a patch for more complete .ass support, not sure about splitting though. Glad you like the name though, found it a bit amusing myself when I found it.If you need to it's easy enough to demux the mkv and just add the fonts to your mplayer font cache, as I plan to be pretty consistent from now on.
do want.
>>22266Well since we're talking 'projects' this seems like the next likely target for translation.Although I was thinking of just importing it and practising my French with it. It's not out till May.
We should download all the versions and episodes, so in case the links and this thread is going to be discovered and shut down we could re-upload the links.
What about the Dofus Mangas? I believe only one of them has been released in English.
I love you guys.
I just want to thank everyone who is involved in the subbing project. I love wakfu, and eagerly await every new ep. you guys put up. Don't let the copyright bastards get you down!
>>22265Yeah, it's likely just incomplete ASS support in the repository build. Most of the time it just works fine, and I don't really mind standard fonts as I had in ep 22 (they're still coloured so eh). I think I'll try and see if ep21 soft plays without problems in Kovensky's Mplayer builds. And who wouldn't like the name of that font file? It's hilarious.
So yeah, uh, the Megaupload links to 21 and 22 have really odd subs for me... They are there, but they are SUPER ULTRA TINYwat do
I've read through the last few posts but I'm not quite understanding them. Are the episodes after 22 out yet? Are you guys not allowed to subtitle them anymore? I just got caught up, and I'm curious as of what the situation is.
>>22287They were never allowed to sub anything, really. Ankama shut down the wiki-site with all the download links, but subbing will (proabably) continue here anyway.
>>22287just keep it on the down low.one site has already been killed, most likely due to people spreading the link needlessly.
Please do not link to this thread as well.
>>22290Is there a good rapidshare aggregate that we can link to instead?
>>22288I see. Well, what's the news with the episodes? Are there more than 22 in French, but no body has been able to translate them, or are there just no more for now?
>>22292The series is on a short break, and will resume in three weeks.
I'm not sure if the subtitler views this thread, but the "Phorror" (enutrof familiar thing) is a Dhreller. At least that's what they're called for the game.
>>22286Do: not use a fail media playerDo: be sure to use one with full .ass supportDo: be sure your .mkv splitter is fully compatible with the standardDo NOT: Use VLC (any flavor)If this is all gibberish to you, go: http://cccp-project.net. Get. Install. Play files with included MPC.>>22294Yes, we're aware of this, but as it's a name of a beastie, has been Phorror since the series started (before the retarded Anglicizations went that far), and Dhrellar sounds like crap, we've decided to leave it as Phorror.Yes, Dhrellar is a play in Driller, and it's still dumb. Besides, hearing them say Phorror and seeing the same thing subbed makes it more natural to associate name-->beastie,

I need hardsubs because I watch on my XBox 360.
>>22295'We'? Who the hell is we? Only people who've made any decisions on Anglicization are you and Eurofag.

Fuck I love this show.
A previous wakfu thread on this forum is the 28th result for a Google search: Wakfu SubsAnd at the end of that thread, is a link to this thread right here. It's only a matter of time.also, while i'm here.../r/ links to SoftSubs (mkv) for episodes 5-15 plox.
>>22306I believe she is an iop. Notice her hair and sword skills.
>>22311She's a Cra. Notice she has a NOSE.
>>22311Not only does she have a nose but she also has blue eyes. I say she's a Cra, but the lack of a bow and the use of a sword says otherwise. Then again not every side-character you see can specifically match every race description down to it's finest detail.
She's an iop.Just because she has a nose does not automatically make her a cra. Many other classes have noses as well.
>>22308Meh, i don't think ankama are so serious that they are searching intensively for us.The link to the wiki just happened to end up on their forums and they decided to bring the wiki down. As long as no one spreads the link to this thread we'll be fine.
>>22318Yes classes other than Cra have noses. But Iops do not have noses thus she can't be an Iop.Because she is white with pointy ears, has a nose, and not covered in blood; she must be a Cra.
Is there any place where I can download an archive of the english subtitles only?I had the dumb and downloaded the raws instead of softsubs, which took me several days (slow Internet ftw)
Perhaps there are basic humans or something that haven't taken a class. I'm sure I've seen some background characters that didn't seem to be of a specific class.
>>22320Cra`s are the only one fitting:pointy ears, has nose, not covered in tattoos or blood, and hasn`t wings.Cra isn`t bound to the use of bows, they can also use other weapons.
she is a sram, out of normal garbbottom rightyou know you would hit thatalso, i suspect there may be "unclassed" people in wakfuALSO this belongs in discussion
>>22324Hooooooleeeeeeeee shiiiiiiiithot
>>22324I don`t see any unclased people,3-4 enutrofs(in the backround)1 sram1 ensripa(the kid)1 pandawa1 feca1 sacrier1 part of ecaflip1 part of iop
>>22324Ah, yeah, her being a Sram would make sense. Has the same hair and eye color, too.I never noticed anybody being "unclassed", but what I have noticed is that other than the main characters and a few other side characters nobody is ever dressed to look like their class. Which is what causes most of the confusion. The only people in Wakfu that I couldn't pin down their class were the bakers in that one episode.
juste watch episode 1, when Grougaloragran brings Yougo in his cradle through the streets of Emelka : lots of unclassed people here
>>22328Baker is the ultimate class.
>>22331Baker is a Profession, not a Class.I've been wondering about this myself, since in the games being a specific class is predicated on worshipping one of the Twelve Gods. I mean, is it like Judaism and Hinduism where you're born into it and can't really convert to it or from it? But you can become, y'know, 'non-practising'?I guess Hinduism would be the closest analogue to the state of religion in Wakfu. You've got a karmic life-force underpinning things that only a few cranks (i.e. Buddhists) are aware of, while a larger number of devotees vie for some practical intervention in their lives by a specific member of a personality-driven polytheistic pantheon. And then you have Yugo. Le Jude de la fantastique.
>>22332>I've been wondering about this myself, since in the games being a specific class is predicated on worshipping one of the Twelve Gods. I mean, is it like Judaism and Hinduism where you're born into it and can't really convert to it or from it? But you can become, y'know, 'non-practising'?In the Boufbowl arc there were Xelors in Bonta who were trying to convert others, so being a Xelor at least probably doesn't require a bloodline. However, other classes have clear racial features, so it makes sense that they are born that way and can't convert.Off-topic >__>
There a hardsub of 22? I have no idea how softsubs are supposed to work.

Think of finding the links as a quest. Therefore only the most noble and diligent may earn the right to watch the subs.
I tried the Wayback Machine but they don't have any instances of Vialou's site, so people wanting the links will have to resort to less convenient methods. For those of you doing old-fashioned link-hunting this is the first subbing threadhttps://plus4chan.org/boards/coc/res/11182.htmland this is the secondhttps://plus4chan.org/boards/coc/res/19725.htmlBetween the three threads, most of the download links should there.

I have a torrent up for grabs for episodes 1-22 with hardsubs. I believe many of you are tired of the filesharing sites. If I recall most of the hardsubs are by Caedo and some by ryukengouki. Big thanks for the work guys! (and to those else whom I don't know about)I'll be seeding with 500-1000kb/s upload, help with seeding would be nice.http://www.demonoid.com/files/details/2121449/?rel=1265134736magnet:?xt=urn:btih:5PWQUUO5DZ4KS6AVIEQ5XD2OGCFWW6TS(I reuploaded the torrent, I messed up the tracker list the first time around)

When people copy and paste the big old list of links when someone asks for the show, they should really include the torrent.
Regarding the torrent I see other clients are downloading at a 600kb/s rate, that's a bit faster than Megaupload/Rapidshare tend to allow. Torrent is linked about 10 posts up. :)
>>22442should i download it just to seed it?also, what's on the torrent? soft/hard or a mix?
>>22381Does the Epi 22 hardsub work on ECKSBAWKS Three-Sixty?
>>22443Hards only.
I like how someone earlier talked about using the wayback machine on a wiki. There's a button right there to see "old revisions" just like all wikis...I'm was hoping to find a ep22v2 that was promised but I guess it's still in the works. I appreciate all the work being put into this, and no one should really worry about the "crack down", it's going to be only a minor annoyance at most.
>>22377Thanks for the torrent, man. I already had most of Wakfu in a mix of soft/hard subs, but having all of the hardsubs is real nice to play through the PS3. I'll try to keep seeding as often as possible.
You're welcome. To those who're curious you don't need to download to help seeding, we're currently 12/8. Our forces are strong at this point. ;) Also as someone mentioned the torrent is hardsub only.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_aVctyDuWC8http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dy5EJQAXrgMits nice to see how its made.. could learn a thing or twom if you want to animate...
>>22456The first animatic is set to FFVIII battle music, and the second to Chrono Trigger's instrumental theme tune. Which made this interesting insight into the animation process several orders of magnitude more awesome than it already was.
FUCK YEAHI hope this means the other characters also get a "redesign" of sorts. I love when that happens!
>>22460I doubt itI mean at the beginning the four heroes were the iconic images of their races. Almost identical. I think he will get a new cross shirt and keep the cape., but i doubt anyone else is going "training in the mountains"
>>22461Well, Yugo's been training in the canyons, but now he's up on the mountain...
I think 22 episodes in is too early for a redesign. I'll miss Grovy classic.Redesigns would be good if they ever did a finale movie, or an "X years later" kind of thing.

>>22480there's another saying"hope is the first step on the road to disappointment"

>>22482so what is the new air date?
I don`t know that,they only said it`s rescheduled
Any info on Episode 23?
I think it`s aired next week
Funny how a show based on an MMO could be so damn cool.
>>22494i don't think they realised it when they started. They must have treated it like the goultard preview short. "so what, it might draw some people to the mmo. who cares"If you watch ep5 (the first ever) it's pretty awkward. But they must have taken note that there is money to be made of the show and taken significant strives.
>>22484Technically, they didn't event said it was "rescheduled".They just said they had to " change what was scheduled " (yes, very vague)post #7 on http://forum.wakfu.com/fr/discussions-generales-f20/episode-special-goultard-t60527.html

>>22737According to Wakfu's official website:- Yugo is 12- Amalia is 13- Grovy is 16- Eva is 17- and Ruel is "very old"!
>>22738They made Grovy younger than what I originally read, then. I was under the impression that he was 18, not 16.
>>22738Never understood how Yugo can only be 1 year younger than Amalia when she looks a lot older than him (Like 15 or 16).Maybe it's the species of Yugo, no matter what age they have, their body seems to grow in small size.
>>22740Girls mature a lot faster than males do, it's typical. When I was in sixth grade all the girls looked older and were taller than the guys were.
>>22738I'd started writing up bios on the side, and I placeholdered Ruel's name as "OLD." Looks like I wasn't far off.I like that, keeps his origins shaky.
>>22739It's better that he's the age he is. Means he's right after a couple major growth spurts, which goes a long way towards explaining why he still looks relatively scrawny.
>>22738He's 12? He looks much older
>>22734now someone tell me what's under his hat?he does have ears sewn into it...
>>22746I think he just has hair

As for that tail at the end, all Eliatropes have it, and it seems to be part of the hat since the tails are all of the same color..Pt 1/2
Pt 2/2Sauce = Wakfu: The Guardians
So, they never take off the hats?
Here's a quote from Xav,the character designer on wakfu "When I began sketching Yugo,I started out with a fairly prominent, tapered nose which looked like it through space-time...not everyone liked it though. So I settled for a more conventional nose.We didn't know just what to put under his hat though...and to be honest,we still don't know!"Art and quote from the book "Wakfu, the making of"

>>22755 FFFffff. I like these designs better than what they ended up doing for Yugo. The lifted nose creates more character imo.
>>22770Makes him look like something out of a Mark Twain book. No thanks.
>>22771 Whaa? That doesn't really make sense.
>>22770I kinda like the overly long hair too.I'm half and half about the nose, both are okay IMO.

If there are any WoW players with french client in here, I just noticed something :Sartharion is voiced by the same actor as Grougaloragran. Now, I cannot go kill that black dragon without thinking about Grougal.
Episode 23 had better be fucking A
>>22776That's... Interesting.Wonder if he voices any other dragons?
>>22765oh god nothe hats are foreskins
>>22776It gets really bad if you watch Ankama's dub of Gurren Lagann. They picked all the actors form the same pool as Wakfu, and a lot of the connections are painfully obvious. Kamina is absolutely impossible to take seriously because his voice is the same as the obnoxious Boufbowl match announcer, and the inflection is the exact same.I looked up the VAs and made up a list. I haven't watched the entire series of Gurren Lagann, so I'm not sure who all of those characters are, and I haven't heard all of the French voices, but Yoko, Kamina, and Viral are all pretty obvious just by listening.Kamina = Boufbowl presentateur (Cédric Dumond)Yoko = Evangelyne (Geneviève Doang)Nia = Amalia (Adeline Chetail)Viral = Xav (William Coryn)Kittan = Nox (Benjamin Pascal)Gimmy, Kiyal, & Boota = Yugo (Fanny Bloc)Tymilph = Rubilax (Gérard Surugue)Narrateur = Ruel (Patrick Bethune)Irac = Tristepin (Thomas Guitard)Jamo, Jorgun, & Balibo = Alibert (Thierry Mercier)Grand prêtre = Grougaloragran (Benoît Allemane)
>>22789No other Dragons, but among many other dubs, he has been the french voice of :- Worf, from Star Trek- Goliath, from Gargoyles- Any character played by Morgan FreemanYeah, he is that cool
>>22794
>>22701>Hello everyone. Not a regular here, wondering what the status was on ep 23.Tristepin's voice actor said on the official forums a few days ago that the final episodes of the first season are not ready to be aired. They lack scenery and have not been dubbed.http://forum.wakfu.com/fr/index.php?s=&showtopic=60199&view=findpost&p=785769I guess we're in for a wait?
Actually there's a lot of confusion at the moment on Wakfu's forums. So far, what we know for sure is that the next episode won't air until March 6th because of Olympic Games. Will this episode be #23? It should, according to what Tot (Ankama's boss) said. However, there are rumors all over the place saying France 3 wants to have a Wakfu event, with the last episodes of the season, during French spring holidays in April. This could mean other reruns in March to catch up with the end in April.Unfortunately, this rumor is all the more credible that the last episodes don't seem ready to be aired yet.So, let's all take a big load of patience, and wait'n'see what happens in March... -_-
>>22805March 6th now? What happened to Feb 20th?France 3 really fucked things up by not airing the nox special when it was supposed to be aired.
>>22806Nox special? I thought it was the Goultarde special.

/r/ all the episodes softsubbed in avii found links like that for 2, 3 and 5 but couldn't find them for any other episode
since we have nothing new to watch, lets have something nice to look at.
Is there a reason why the subs have soft audio? Is it because it was recorded like that, or the audio was nerfed in favor of better video, while maintaining consistent filesize?I have some of the earliest subs by Eurofag in mkv, they're louder and clearer, if slightly larger in size.Nothing serious, just curious, is all.

Alright, long overdue, and far below the quality of what I'm comfortable releasing, here are the V2's for EP22.As I warned you previously, this is going to be a case of trading some flaws for new ones. There is very little blocking here, however due to the SD analogue source, there is a noticeable loss of sharpness and edge definition. So you will likely notice some color bleeding and haloing. Both are essentially impossible to filter out without making the whole affair a ridiculously blurry mess.I've asked the very very kind individual doing the capture to provide as pure a capture source as possible (no transport encoding) so we'll see how that helps for EP23 assuming it's still possible. In any case, here are the links:Hardsub (PS3/Xbox360 compat.): http://www.megaupload.com/?d=GBZBSZGOSoftsub: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=2LKOTT7T
>>22844What were the flaws in the old version? I don't remember anything.
>>22821My audio tracks are rarely encoded, usually I just do a straight port of the ankama stream AAC. There is no point re-encoding it beyond what they already do themselves as it only results in (probably imperceptible) quality loss.As such I perform no gain modification, perhaps the previous encoders have. If i do re-encode, I always match the input bitrate, up-sample if it's low, and normalize, which also may account for a lower 'perceived' volume>>22816AVI softsubbing is quite rare, as AVI is a most disagreeable container to work with under the best of circumstances, and only works with SRT streams (even then it tends to be very annoying with timing). Speaking bluntly there is currently zero reason to use AVI as a container anymore for computer based playback, as it is far surpassed by others such as .mp4 and .mkv. Contrary to popular belief AVI is not any easier to play (unless you're still running windows 95) as it is simply a container. The stuff that you play goes inside it. You do not consume the container, just what it contains. It IS more compatible with archaic standalone hardware playback devices, but to be honest I feel that nowadays this is definitely a minority of users. As such I release in .mp4 and .mkv, with another encoder (very kindly) releasing the 'ultimate compatible file' in 4:3 hardsubbed AVI.
Oh, I can think of many many examples; too bad we can only attach one photo at a go here. But this one pretty much sums up how much I hate the Ankama encoder. Honestly if I was working on the show and saw how he butchered it so terribly, I'd probably have lynched him by now.
>>22846Actually this one is pretty terrible too
>>22846......and this one.
>>22847> It IS more compatible with archaic standalone hardware playback devices, but to be honest I feel that nowadays this is definitely a minority of users. Not everybody wants to be limited to watching episodes on their computer. It's nice to be able to transfer them to a device to playback on a larger TV with better speakers. Take that for what you will. I'm fine with soft subs or hard subs in MP4 format.
>>22852Apologies, I think that statement was a bit unclear. What I meant was that most users savvy enough to be hunting the internet for fansubs of any sort, if they have a standalone playback device, will in the majority of cases not be restricted to something so kludgy as AVI; most will want to (whether they know it or not) go for .mp4.
>>22846 Quite a lot of misplaced frames were making the scenes jump around a bit in the ankama encode.>>22852 It takes some 10 seconds to hook up your computer to your TV.
>>22847Must be one really low perception.Only after maxing all my volume sliders and turning the speaker dial to maximum can the speech be clearly heard, at this setting most of my other shows would rattle the speakers.
>>22857Not everybody has the cables.
>>22858Don't know what to tell you friend, I did not re-encode the audio for EP22 V1 (to my best recollection) and only have so many machines to test on. Everything checked out just fine before I shipped on several systems, including one that has a very minimal playback capability running XP, a Vista box, and 2 windows 7 machines. My apologies that they're giving you difficulties.
>>22844>far below the quality of what I'm comfortable releasingLooking back at the original raw, you did a pretty good job IMO... ^_^
The watermark on the bottom right corner is a bit annoying (why did they have to do it so big and intrusive ? plus they already have the watermark from the channel on the top corner)Was the non-watermarked version from Ankama's web-TV so bad and unworkable with ?
>>22863In a word, yes.See the pictures I posted earlier in the thread showcasing some of the irreparable damage they do to their own product. The logo is doubly annoying, because if the entire thing had alpha, I could do a successful logoremove on it, but because it's partially opaque, doing so would cause distortion that would likely be still more irritating. The first round of TV captures we had didn't have the logo in the lower right, it seems to be a new thing 3 is doing.
The first time I saw this new watermark as on episode 18.
Man, I never had any problems with videos, hard or softsubbed, even on VLC, I guess I'm darn lucky.
So... is this board worksafe?
>>22877if you're going to post what i think you are going to post, check /pco/ board first.

How do Iops smell?I don't know, they don't have a nose!
>>22917they do have noses, just very flat...
The Iop nose thing confuses me... in episode 9 Grovy is the only one who doesn't react to the smell in Ruel's bag, so I thought it was going to be a running joke that he couldn't smell anything (because he's drawn without a nose). But in later episodes his olfactory sense appears to be in perfect working order.I'm disappointed. It would have made for an awesome gag.
>>22919True, but it would make it really weird at the same time, with one character not being able to smell. Also remember that no sense of smell = no ability to taste. I don't think they wanna make him a pseudo-cripple.
In episode six he picks his nose and wipes it in the mirror. It is an art style, not an anatomy feature.>>22920>no smell = no tasteBollocks. Come on, taste is actuated by the papillae(spelling) of the tongue. Otherwise you would smell everything to a fair degree by breathing in through your mouth. Otherwise there would be no point in plugging your nose when something reeks.
>>22927Yeah, I know taste isn't completely controlled by scent, but it plays a big part. When you have a cold for example, you can't taste much do to your nostrils being blocked.
>>22928My taste is completely unaffected by colds, but then again, I'm anosmic, so...And I'm hardly 'pseudo-crippled'. Sure, I can't smell food, and I'm almost certain my taste is dulled, but I don't have to smell a dead skunk by the side of the road, or farts. Though it's a bit annoying to have to ask my roommate if the milk smells spoiled.
>>22931Hey man, I'm not trying to call you crippled, but all I'm saying is that it wouldn't make for a very good character.
>>22932I disagree. I think it'd be a fun quirk. It'd be dumb to base someone's whole characteriation on it or if they went all emo about it, but the trait itself doesn't make a bad character.
>>22933What I'm thinking of is the fact that they'd constantly have to consider it. (Scene where something is smelling)DO YOU GUYS SMELL THAT?LOL NO I SURE DON'TIt's easier to just have him be able to smell
>>22935It actually makes for some interesting situations. It's not an obvious thing like blindness or being deaf, so people forget. They'll say 'do you smell something weird', get a deadpan stare in return, then remember and awkwardly apologize.
>>22932Krillin disagrees. His lack of a nose was even a 4th wall joke at one point in the Dragon Ball manga.
Also: Grovy needs a nose so he can partake in the tradition, "nose goes"
>>22941I had to look up what the hell "nose goes" was.I still feel like there's a joke but I'm just not getting it. :/
>>22937And also in the Anime.

Holy shit, you people too? I gotta get away for a few days. I'm starting to obsess over wakfu. Damn Ankama.
>>22990I keep checking this thread daily...for no reason. Just because I'm obsessing over this damn show. But let me get this straight. March 6th is Episode 23? Or just a rerun after the Olympics are over?
>>22991we're still unsure
>>22991It's official: it will be episode 17 rerun. That's what Wakfu's website says.

>>22998Yup! A 2 weeks no Wakfu diet...And episode 23 on the 13th isn't even sure yet. -_-

>>2300017 : march 6th18 : march 13th19 : march 20th20 : march 27th21 : april 3rd22 : april 10th23 : april 17th.... DAMN !!!
>>23007Laugh if you're an areshole, but otherwise it's just a testimony to the efforts of the translators, caedo, and the promoters of the project. It shits me that after so much babysitting wakfu threads, making sure everyone was linked to the right files and trying to help out with people's technical problems the series gets fucked with by WURLD EVUNTZ, which happen to be dickheads in full body condoms sliding this way and that and falling on their bums.
>>23009If it was just the Olympics causing this, they wouldn't be going back to 17. They probably need more time for 23+.
>>23010Well yeah the other problem is France 3 fucking with the Nox special, and ultimately Ankama because if the broadcaster delays/cancels/whatever an episode they don't have another one to put in its place, I can appreciate them being last minute (lol artists) though, and it's for that reason I primarily blame France 3. They should know their producers better.
>>23009woah woah woah woah woah.I'm sad about the episode being held back even later too..BUT DON'T BE HATIN ON MAH OLYMPICS.
>>23000 what an odd coincedence! April 17th is my birthday.

>>23013These idiots get medals for doing what we were told not to do by swimming instructors on our school visits to the pool. The Greeks canceled the olympics for a very good reason, and it should never have been brought back.
Can someone give a link of all the episodes translated?
>>23019see>>22188
>>23018
Episode 23 better be a feature length movie or something if they're taking this long.
>>23032Considering what you have to do to get these episodes (aka: SHIT-ALL), you're in no position to complain. They'll be here when they get here.
>>23033You don't know what it's like to be addicted, man.
>>22927 >>23009So whereabouts in the UK are you both from? My friend called me yesterday when I was sitting in a canteen full of people at work and I asked him if he was up to date with Wakfu, and did I need to bring some over? Everyone then stopped talking and stared at me.Apparently they thought I said 'wank films.' Even after correcting them with the title, I had to say it was some sort of kung fu shit because I'm a coward and didn't want my co-workers (who are all forty-something narrow minded EastEnders loving sheep) knowing I was into French cartoons.
>>23035Eastenders can go to hell, I hate everything about it. ESPECIALLY the way they constantly shoehorn those fucking drums into every single thing to do with it. It's nothing more than forced a forced part of our culture that's done nothing to benefit it whatsoever. And the worst part is it's all just for the sake of competing with Coronation Street. Damn it all I'm so angry and the only thing that can calm me down is a new episode of Wakfu!
Any word on the full Goultard special coming out before 23? Pretty gory stuff, right off the bat the trailer shows a retarded kid mashing a frog.http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xa8yk5_goultard-le-barbare_videogames
>>23045That short was made back in 2007; it's not a trailer, and the Goultard film they were planning on airing is probably different from that.
>>23046well, that's what I thought first, but in fact it IS a trailer with a few sequences from the real short. The full episode was finished in 2007 too and was used as a promotional stuff to find financial partners to start the real serie. It was also aired at conventions like the Japan Expo in paris, and then when they made their own Ankama Con.You're semi-right about the gory stuff (there's also lot off blood in the fight scene against Katar, and psychoogical violence when he discovers his wife and kids deads). This short film is not targeted at the sae audience as the serie and, I think, couldn't be aired on kids show, despite the more tolerant standards of rench TV. However, it was supposed to be released on Ankama's web-TV, not on the TV channel.
Everything in the game is getting toned down. In the earlier version, gobbelettes shat out (complete with fart sound) babies. Not anymore. Also check out the class called Sacrieur's Blood. Kind of obvious how they get their name in dofus, no? Now, the sticky brown shit they throw around is their tattoo. They went from RIP AND TEAR BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD to tattooed-up spiderman. The biggest dread i feel is that the management noticed the series is getting a little too risque and decided to order in sensorship to clean it up. I mean it is fairly unheard of for a cartoon to leak a shower scene, even a clean one, no? Its pretty suggestive for daytime tv (see: kid's show). We gotta admit the past few episodes were relationship-strong, no? Maybe that is what delayed it. NO, that way lies HERESY
>>23048 What shower scene? You mean the mirage that Grovy saw in the desert?
>>23048 oh mah god you might be rightWHY CAN'T THEY JUST LET CHILDREN'S CARTOONS BE VIOLENT FOR A CHANGE?
>>23048French culture is pretty liberal. If they were worried about the shower scene, they would have blown the whistle BEFORE they aired the episode. I don't think we have anything to worry about with regard to the show. However, since they made a child-friendly cartoon out of their franchise, the game series now has to cater to a slightly younger demographic, which is probably why they scrapped Sacrier's Blood.
>>23052Those foolish Europeans. Thinking they'll build a better society by showing their kids some light-headed humorous sexy material, rather than raw violence. Everyone knows it's the opposite, and sexy = bad, mmm'kay./sarcasm
>>23054 when did I ever say the sexy material was bad?
Anyone else waiting till the inevitable Wakfu: The Abridged Series pops up?
>>23056 what exactly would they change? The show is already pretty comedy-heavy and very aware of it's own weirdness.but yes, I'm looking forward to one of those.
>>23048what ho, bloodfists are a kind of Iop?
>>23014No kidding...mine too!
>>23060 well then I guess we have something to look forward to.
>>23059No, they are different. Iops worship the god Iop. Sacriers worship Sacrier.
>>23063The little X button on the right hand corner of every post.
>>23059>a kind of elfis more like it. And i know they will never add a main character Sacrieur, but they are still awesome. Even toned down. Lookit dat
>>23068There's been a few Sacrieur characters. Though only Nox's mummy Sacrieur ever display the blood/ink powers. I want to see ome Pandawa characters. Not likely we'd get many displays of their powers, since it's excessive drinking and having one of their arms on fire.
>>23068No main character sacrier you said ?
>>23070KRISS LA KRASS FTW!
Kriss la Krass is a godI know this to be true
>>23070Yeah, that's not a main character.
>>23070>>23071He is a villain of the day and he does nothing sacrieurs do. The only thing that separates him from a Iop is a tattoo of a heart. He doesn't even have a nose himself. Now he does have interesting application as a villain, but he may as well be played by johnny depp, for all the relevance his race is to his character.
>>23067 I KEEP CLICKING THE X AND NOTHING HAPPENS!also, FUCK YEAH KRISS LA KRASSEVEN AS AN OLD MAN HE'S AWESOME

Here's the link to Catsuka's page with the screenshots:http://www.catsuka.com/news_detail.php?id=1266854697They say "the episode may be outstanding in more ways than one, especially when aired among France 3's kids'shows".Well, well? Will we see something a little more mature for a change?
>>23103So basically softcore porn and guro, by American standards?
>>23099>it's not even animated using flash. Yes it is. Then even mention in the documentary it wasn't easy to get japanese flash animators.
>>23105that was for episode 22 (Rubilax) which was the first one done by the japanese team
>>23104nah, it's unlikely to be much more graphic than usual. Instead it's that it's a sad tale that doesn't pull its punches. Nox is supposed to have lost everything by the end of it, after all, and by his own fault.
>>23106Actually the first one was "the brotherhood of tofu", Rubilax is the second. But no, they didn't suddenly change their production pipeline for their third episode. You don't teach yourself a whole prodcution process only to throw it away on a whim. Ankama itself doesn't have the means to create a non-flash episode and Ankama Japan is a much smaller structure.
>>23096Here's the part of the documentary, seen on French TV channel Nolife, talking about the Nox special: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=1PJRQIERIt's mainly in French; but the animator interview is in English, so this should help.
>>23109Cheers.
>>23108>But no, they didn't suddenly change their production pipeline for their third episodeThat bit of documentary does say it's not flash, so I guess they could afford some experimentation. The more, the better.
An ankama admin confirmed with me, DVD's will have subs AND dubsdoubters status[]untold[x]told
>>23115damn now I need to find a way to preorder and import that shit
>>23115You did mean to put the word 'English' in that sentence, right? Dubs and subs by themselves in the native language are nothing to laugh manically about.
>>23115 Wait. You mean English ones, right? Also, ask that Ankama admin if they will make a Bluray release.
>>23118>>23119Yes, English. I asked on the English forum, didn't i? I will ask about the blu-ray, but he already mentioned dvd's. I doubt they can afford to do a blu-ray run, not to mention having a market. Not a single person i speak to in-game even knows there is a wakfu animation.
>>23118 Technically, the native vocal track is not a dub, it is the original audio, which they translate to create dubs.
>>23094 >>23109 Holy mother of god. That's going to be so damn awesome. Retro-70s style, beautiful acid trip animation kind of awesome.I was just expecting a normal +1 wakfu ep, but they shot waaaaaay beyond that mark.

>>23131I've basically memorised all the lines for the current episodes, so it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

>>23150I still don't know if the translators ADDED the DEM BUNS thing, or if Ankama actually made that reference.
>>23151 DEM BUNS was probably something made by our translators, to replace an otherwise untranslatable french bread-related pun or joke. But I'll be damned if the character design wasn't influenced by the mega milk girl.
Yeah....the translators admitted they editted that in there BECAUSE there was no other way to make that scene have any sense at all...Check the last thread for more info...
>>23151The baker girl is supposed to make some nice round bread called "miche", which also refers in French slang to a buttock. ^_^
>>23154So... dat ass?
She needs to make a reappearance.Like Cabbage Man is to Avatar, Dem Buns should be to Wakfu.
>>23152 okay that HAS to have been intentional.there's no way that's a coincedence.
>>23155"miches" works both for "buttocks" and "bosoms" (though it's usually more used for buttocks). The reference is in the shape : big and round.
I just can't wait to hear "DEM BUNS!" in the official dub.
How do big boobs effect shooting with a bow anyway? You afraid she's going to catch a nipple on the bow string as she fires an arrow or something?
>>23162 i think that's exactly what the concern is.that was why amazons removed one of their breasts, so it wouldn't catch the bowstring.
>>23162No, it's more of a concern what happens when the bowstring breaks and snaps across your bare chest. However this can be solved by taping the breasts down or wearing padding. This is probably how the amazon breast cutting myth started.
>>23162>>23164>>23167So this little tangent made me wonder about a more general question, namely why so many leading ladies in action adventure or superhero genres are either ranged fighters, incredibly acrobats or both. The conclusion I came to is that having a girl/woman getting in a gloves-off, no holds barred fist fight with a villain would generally be frowned upon......having a chick get punched in the face sorta goes against most understandings of polite society. So I guess Eva's archery is a case of chivalry over realism, though personally, I don't think she's TOO well-endowed to use a bow.
>>23168The answer is a little different from your conclusion: It's the posing and how those skills show off the body. As any art historian will tell you, it's all about the male gaze.
>>23169Oh Christ not the Male Gaze. Mercy!I wrote a 21 page paper on that shit back in undergrad. I am so sick of it as an argument...EVEN THOUGH I KNOW IT'S TRUE!GAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!
>>23161Funny you should mention this; one of the first fansub projects I ever worked on back in the bad old days actually had it's scripts directly ripped off for the R1 DvD release. Slang, our own translation foibles and all.Was a bit galling to be honest; all that work and someone else capitalizes on it.

I think that we should refocus. The Question: Would the breasts of female archers get in the way / cause injury in the event the string snapped? Before I provide the answer I think it's important for you to know I am an Archer, not a professional one mind you, it's just a hobby, but I have been taught by a professional.I point this out so that you know my answers are based on my 1st person understanding of archery and how it works not based on theory and speculation. With that disclaimer out of the way.The Answer: Part one: No. To fire an arrow you align your shoulders with the target. Raise your bow until your arm is fully extended and at a 90 degree angle to your spine, then pull the string back to the CORNER OF YOUR MOUTH (NOT all the way back in line with the opposite shoulder. I think that this is the main misconception as if you can pull it back that far without either the string or bow breaking, your string is too long or your a midget. ) Finally you let your fingers go limp and watch the arrow fly. Now if you are firing in this fashion, which you should be if you want to hit anything, the angle of the string will bring it to pass above the breast not across it. Part 2: Possibly. When a string snaps the whipping affect is pretty hard to predict. But here is the interesting part, a well endowed archer has a higher chance to get hit by the string but an equally lower chance to have the string take out an eye.So which would you prefer, a nasty welt across some sensitive flesh that will probably heal within a week, or blindness in one eye, that (unless your ambidextrous) means you'll never wield a bow again.I know which one I'd pic if my entire way of life depended on my ability to use a bow. Which most of these adventuring hero and heroins lives do.
Now on to a personal but not unrelated note.I know that in amine it is not uncommon to slap boobs on female characters that simultaneously are large enough to have their own gravity and defy it.In such an event breasts would get in the way but it still wouldn't hurt, You just wouldn't be able to pull the string back as far as you should. But these amine don't take themselves seriously let alone anything else, so neither should you. This is one of the reasons I like Wakfu, It draws it's characters in human proportion, (even though no one is human) It makes them seem so much more real and therefor easier for the audience to care about them.Sure the heads are a bit bigger than normal and they have big eyes but this is amine, a big head and huge eyes make it easier to display and express facial expressions and emotions. This is not a criticism, I like this, but a lot of shows go overboard with eyes too big to fit in their skulls and skulls too big to be supported by their necks.Fortunately Wakfu does not do this, They have made (in my opinion) the perfect balance between expressiveness and realism, and I Love Them For It!
>>23174>>23176Is quite right. I shoot compound, and the worst injuries come to the forearm/wrist, like whiplash, from the bowstring, when you forget to hold your arm properly. Also, archers aren't idiots, it's very easy to know when a string is reaching a breaking point (it frays) and it is easy to replace. Finally, i do believe we were talking about TITS, NOT THE FUCKING MECHANICS OF ARCHERY.jeezhere, evidence of mr Culexus being taken in. One of us. One of us.
>>23171>all that work and someone else capitalizes on it.That's a pretty amusing thing to say for a fansubber.
>>23178In what way amusing? Plainly they decided to take our translation work and sell it (do keep in mind, the producers of shows in most cases are not responsible for out of region releases) as their own. Quite literally free profit outside licensing the series.I'm sorry, but I don't see the 'amusement' factor. I can only assume you were trying to make an allusion of fansubbing as an equivalent to 'ripping off' but it doesn't quite connect; we're not getting paid, and gain nothing but the (very) occasional thankyou and (very frequent) complaints about _______ problem with said free work. Now, if we were putting in zero work at all, and reselling the show with zero alteration for profit, I could see such a remark making sense.
Decent derail is decentCould have been worse
>>23179> we're not getting paid, and gain nothingAnd yet by subbing it (not to mention distributing encodes) you trample all over another's intellectual property and commercial rights, which legally makes it a much worse offense than them taking your subs (since you don't have the right to produce them in the first place).
>>23183that's a nice unfounded statement there.
>>23184Maybe you should take a little refresher (or introductory, I suspect) course on what exactly that "All rights reserved" thing means.
>>23185And just to complete that statement, I need to say I've got nothing against ubs, done some of Wakfu in fact, but it's capital to understand they're not completely illegal, but since they're also just translations they don't enjoy any copyright protection themselves (they'd need to be original works for that).
>>23186whoops, meant "not *just* completely illegal
>>23186translating plain dialogues is not illegal ..... uploading the videos that goes with said translations, on the other hand .....Most subs are illegal, however, some companies let subbers do their stuff according to two factors, mostly :- Is the estimated financial prejudice of fansubs superior or inferior to the cost of acting to ban said fansubs ?- Is the estimated prejudice inferior to the value of the buzz made around the serie, which will increase its value to potential buyers if they already know their audience will like the show ?Also, said prejudice depends a lot on how far the subs are spreading, and to which audience : when the site URL was posted on french forums, they reacted immediatly, for it affected their primary audience and first potential DVD buyers.
>>23188Actually, even uploading the subs alone would be infringement, it's just that the damage would be small and not worth suing. As for the buzz, though it could be argued for a more adult-oriented show for Wakfu where the primary target is kids it's negligible compared to what they get through TV and the game players.
Bringing topic back to Wakfu instead of subbing politicsWhat can we expect from 23?
>>23191Well, I dunno about 23 specifically but since the writer said the last two episodes would make us cry I suspect not everyone's gonna come back for the second season.Plus something found on 4chan>sometime this spring there'll be a new series announced, it'll be a net-only series of twenty 10 minutes episodes called Dofus Tournament Championship, and it's all gonna be violent arena fights on which viewers can bet to gain special in-game swag.>In april there's gonna be the first book of Wakfu Heroes, it's a series of comics where secondary characters get their own story. First book's hero is KABROOOOOOOK!
>>23192I see. But I don't want anyone to die ;__;Those comics sound neat though. Will they be sold in stores or readable on the internet?
>>23192What's the source of the comment? I guess we need something to mull over between seasons.
>>23195The nature and format of DTC was actually explained by Tot (one of the Ankama heads) on the french Wakfu forum last yar in a post where he bared Ankama's long-term plans. No release date was given in that post but a chance mention of a mystery series of short episodes being worked on by Ankama japan on another forum brought the missing piece. As for Wakfu Heroes it's got a two-pages spread in this month's Dofus Mag. To be sold in stores in april. Collector's edition comes with a black raven figure.
>>23192>not everyone's coming back>attack on the tree of lifeNO NO NONONO
>>23197as a matter of fact, seeing any of them die would break my heart. I (nearly)cried on 19. It just can't happened.
>>23197dat jailbaitWill become ex-jailbait
Let's not jump the gun, guys. Things can be sad without main characters dying. My money's on Amalia after Nox rapes the Tree of Life.
My money is still on Ruel eating it.Grougalaragran attacked Ruel as the strongest of the party, and Grougal also stated that as Nox is weakened, the party might be able to stop Nox from attacking the Tree of Life. So, Ruel is the strongest and will make the sacrifice to save everybody else.
>>23200I hate you, just for the fact that it's really plausible
>>23201I doubt Ruel on the list. They just recently started this subplot between him and the Phorror. I think we have a lot more character development coming our way for Ruel.Amalia on the other hand....Actually, in terms of pure nightmare/drama fuel, having Grovey show up and win Eva back just to see her die soon after would be epic.....like Hamlet is epic.
>>23203They wouldn't pull a stunt like that...Right?;__;
>>23204It all depends on what you want out of the series. Heartbreaking as it would be, you have to admit that it would be some undeniable badass fuel for Grovey. The thing that tips me off is that Eva's bow was broken. Considering how integral a bow is to a Cra's way of life, I sorta feel this is pretty solid foreshadowing.
>>23205But they also mentioned that the Sadida King can fix Eva's bow. Now that he's awake, there's no reason to think she won't have a working bow as soon as 23.Thing is, they've only really set up Amalia as a potential death. Ruel is finally starting to work out his life and has an entire subplot with a baby Drueller who still has to grow into his collar. Eva and Grovy are finally really getting into each other, Grovy just got a massive powerup in that his sword accepts him now so he's not going down any time soon, and Eva's bow is most likely going to be a lot more than 'fixed' once the King gets ahold of it. Yugo's off doing his stint of mountain training so he'll get a nice powerup as well (along with being the main character), and Adamai is the entire culmination of the original quest. This leaves Amalia; she has gotten no powerups (being fairly strong as she is, Sadida Princess and all), and there's still half the series left so they can't kill off Nox, who needs both the Tree of Life and a Dragon to fill up the cube. Really, the length of series left is something of a giveaway; if Nox DOESN'T kill off the entire Sadida people (Amalia included), there won't be any purpose to him continuing his quest because the world will no longer have enough Wakfu for him to do what he needs to do.At the very least, we're looking at Amalia dying. I'm not saying the others are safe, but they're sure as hell a lot safer than she is.Or maybe I'm completely wrong, and her father will sacrifice himself to replace the Tree of Life and save all Sadidas.
>>23206Now that you mention it, the Sadida King having a Kwisatz Haderach moment WOULD be pretty awesome. But you do bring up a salient point: If the bow gets fixed in 23, Eva's safe. If not, I maintain my original hypothesis.
Does someone really have to die? Things can be tragic without shoehorning in a character death, and this is a children's cartoon, after all...
>>23208 yeah but you forget... it's a FRENCH children's cartoon.WHO KNOWS WHAT KIND OF CRAZY STUNT THEY'LL TRY TO PULL OFF NEXT? HOW FAR WILL THEY PUSH THE LIMIT?!?!?
Amalia's father dies, she stays to govern the Sadidas (As her brother is an asshole)
>>23210....so Pig-Breath Armand joins the party? LolYou have to admit, he's got some pretty badass fighting skills compared to Amalia
>>23212 Kabrock didn't join the party.Xav didn't join the party.Kriss didn't join the party.I doubt any other one-episode characters will.although, Armond did have a small role in the next episode... perhaps he will become a more permanant character...
>>23207Eva's safe. It's humiliating, not a death sentence, and the king can fix it anyway. IF somebody's going to die, it'll be Amalia or the King. In spite of everything I said, Amalia's very unlikely, and besides, you're all assuming the sadness inherent in the episode/s will come from somebody dying and not a flashback.
>>23206I don't know if Amalia will be the one to kick the bucket. If she dies, the party will end up with one female and about four males so I doubt that it will happen. The Sadida King is more likely which may cause a power boost or training stint for Amalia to be stronger for her people.I doubt any of the Brotherhood of Tofu will die, it'll be more likely one of the people that are close to them.
>>23213'Twas a joke, y'know. But seriously, it would be interesting to have a not-so-nice character in the main party. Ruel doesn't count, cheap != ass.
Them crazy frenchmenIf this were american or japanese it wouldn't be half as awesome.
>>23208I hate to keep comparing this show to Avatar, but that was a children's cartoon and there were many deaths shown from the past, and recent.I don't think any of the main characters are going to die though. It would be kinda cool to see Eva have to somehow choose between Amalia and Grovy...hurmmm
We all know that something bad happened in the past that Nox is trying to repair. My bets are this mysterious tragic event has something to do with that. But I just like sympathizing with evil characters >_>
>>23094This style really does remind of Kaiba. If it is being made by an anime team, it is most likely the same team that made Kaiba. That's pretty awesome. Also, if Amalia does end up dying, I will cry.
>>23247Yeah, the Nox episode's character designer was the director on Kaiba.
First off, who said Adamai is vital? He taught Yugo the spirit bomb du jour, and is currently stuck as a baby tofu. You know what a baby tofu is in the world of 12? Lvl one adventurer bait. Shoe leather. Vendor trash pokemon, if you will.My other bet would be Armand, in a manly sacrifice, to make Eva re-think her rejection of him. Both of the above make good example of a character built up just to go down gloriously.But sorry for freaking out earlier. This is a party cartoon, no main character is dying.ANDDONTYOUFUCKINGDARESAYONEWORDABOUT EVADYING:_;
>>23258Adamai is the mmo's mascot. Strongest armour known to man.

>>23265Powered by moneyMade from idolizingIndestructible from popularity
>>23258You know, usually after prolonged exposure these things stop affecting me. But no. That face is still a massive heartstring-puller.
>>23258Man, if she died...I don't know man, I just don't know. That scene gets me every time too. So much that it changed how much of an emotional impact I use in my stories.I really hope none of the Brotherhood of Tofu dies. It would be devastating to say the least.
>>23285I hope it led you to have more emotional devastation, not less.
>>23289Of course. I'm liking the changes, a lot more powerful when it should've been.
Hrm...more interesting suggestions from my brain...Goultard Le barbere was supposedly to be released, right?Well where is it?What if...It was re-tooled and the characters there are replaced with the Wakfu cast?So the final fight will be Grovy vs. Nox...why? Dunno why...Grovy gets punched through a wall, see Eva hanged in chains with Yugo and Amalia and Ruel.....And he goes berserker, the sowrd overtakes him one last time...though surprisingly, he keeps sanity on it since both are in agreement that Nox's ass needs kicking. However BEFORE Nox gets destroyed, he invades Grovy's body turning him into one of those Sacrieur things...and goes Evil.Meanwhile Yugo and the rest wakes up sees a berserkering Grovy and through some dramatic scene involving mercy killing, Portals Sir Sadlygrove into an aether dimension, trapping him there...Manly tears were shed...END SEASON ONE!---What you think? Needs more drama or it's just too shitty?
>>23298Nox isn't evil enough for that. The most he'd do is pull rubilax off and kidnap it.
>>23298No no no no, Grovy can't fight Nox one on one. But he could take on the minions all on his lonesome.
>>23298Yer off yer rocker.
Indeed I am off my rocker. But what I'm getting at, is that Grovy is capable of being bad ass...I mean the way I was thinking of it, he confronts Nox because at first he thinks he can handle Nox on his own...Nox obviously plays with him, UNTIL he punts Grovy through a wall, where he sees Eva in chains and well we all know Grovy's inner badass comes out when SHE'S involved...Yeah...
Why is this show so very awesome
I've got my money on Ruel. He's old, a lot about him has already been revealed (family manor, his Enutrofan power, boufbowl history, his pet, his bag) and it'll be a total Shyamalan TWEEEEEST~! moment. If he continues anymore he'd be an overpowered Gary Stu.
>>23311Here here. I've been pushing for the Ruel death as well. His funeral will be inside his stinky bag.
NO. If anyone should die...it should be Amalia.Seriously does NOTHING for the team. >:c
>>23323But what about DEM HIPS??!
>>23325dead DEM HIPS are still DEM HIPS... at least for a couple days
>>23323Take away Yugo's ship you'll end up with an emo Yugo. Do you really want to go there?
Amalia is too brown and too jailbait to die
>>23328Except there's NOTHING between Yugo and Amalia. Nothing.
>>23331Yup.Yugo is going to be hot in the future judging by that screenshot in the boufball episode..Besides, he's an endangered class. Chicks will definitely be all up on his "disco stick"Plus, Eva provides enough hips so we're good there. :)>>23330 Grovy's new tan will replace her though.See, happy ending!
>>23331Re-watch veneneuse.
>>23331thisBut Amalia is not a bad character. She acts bratty, yeah, but that's just a part of character development. If you compare to how she was in the beginning of ep06 "lol my employee", then she is quite likeable. But i'm still an Eva man. maiwaifu
>>23333venetowhatnow
>>23333He would cry just the same if he thought anybody else were dying. Anyone. The only reason he didn't cry for each and every villager in ep2 is he was too distraught of the thought of losing his dad.But i like the pairing nontheless. Shipperfag, guilty.

>>23338Afraid i don't know. I shamelessly drop Eva requests into drawfag threads. Well, not entirely shamelessly, i haven't made a wakfu thread on /tg/ in over a month, so i can't be blamed for being obnoxious. I love /tg/'s drawfags.one made by mr Culexus here>>23177and another earlier

See, I always thought this sequence was more indicative of Yugo/Amalia, but then, I has teh bias. There was blatent Grovy/Eva in 18, but this was more subtle.
>>23345SUDDENLY, SHIPPING COSTS SKYROCKET
>>23345How the fuck did I miss that
>>23345You could read a lot into that. I'm not saying it's impossible but for one, they're still pre-teens. Second, couldn't they both just be platonically attached and emotional about the departure? I just don't really see the need to ship a 12 year old with somebody. He's cool enough with his hax skills.
>>23357>hax'Hax' implies he's more powerful than he has any right to be. He's the fucking afterbirth of a dragon; it's amazing he isn't MORE powerful.
>>23358Well by how the training is going I guess it safe to say it's probable he will be on par with Grougal powers when he is done....nah.
>>23359Yugo : 12Grougal : several milleniano way

>>23360Old Grougal did say, though, that if Adamai and Yugo were together, they'd be more powerful than even Grougal. Which makes me wonder where Grougal's egg-brother is.... probably long dead.
>>23396
>>23396Do we know that Grougal has an egg brother? Dragons were around before Eliatropes, no?
>>23406That's made me just think of something:If dragon resurrect through Dofus eggs and Dofus eggs contain both a dragon and an Eliatrope, does that mean Grougal's brother is going to make an appearence?Eliatropes don't seem ageless like Dragons. So likely they die first from old age, leaving the dragon alone until he also dies and both are resurrected.
>>23415in fact >>23406 is right : in the beginning, there were only dragons, then one day, they began to lay eggs containing both a dragon whelp and an eliatrope (see end of ep. 15)So, basically, Grougaloragran could be one of the early dragons without an eliatrope twin.
>>23417What happens if Eliatrops get busy? They'd just have kids like normal, right?
>>23420You ever see that picture of red and blue portals from the videogame portal glitched and multiplying in an infinite array? That's what happens.
maybe they are separate species that can, under special circumstances, produce children of both races simultaneously. And who said Eliatropes aged? In Les Gardiens, they are all ~12. For all we know, Yugo is a highlanderalso

Anybody else wondering what exactly Adamai and Yugo will find when they get to Grougal's dofus?
Back to the Yugo/Amalia ship, why would she call him a little rascal if there was something else between them? Seems more platonic to me.
>>23425the French word ("chenapan") is a little more affective/cute than "rascal". It is much more neutral, so it doesn't close the door to a non-platonic relationship (like "rascal" does), however, it's still way too thin to draw any conclusion in the other direction either.
>>23425Makes me warm on the inside. On the other hand, maybe "rascal" is not the best word for someone your age that you admire...
>>23426Ah, the advantages of being bilingual. I would still argue that petite added to that diminishes any romantic notions.
>>23428seconded, "petit chenapan" is affectively condescending (though she's only 1 year older, she considers him more like a kid)

Anything of interest re: Wakfu been divulged in "Inside ankama"?
BAD NEWS EVERYONE !Episode 23 has been postponed 1 week and will be aired on march 20th. According to Tot, they and France 3 thought it would be better to air the 4 remaining episodes at the same rate of 1 per week, in a straight serie, instead of making another break. No info given yet if something wakfu-related is scheduled for march 13th.GOOD NEWS EVERYONE ! This might be a consolation prize, but if I can, I'll try to post a translation of the script in the afternoon of march 20th, like I did for episode 22, so that you can understand the stream from the wakfu site without waiting 3-4 days for the subs. If ep 23 had been released on march 13th as initially planned, I wouldn't have been able to do it, since I will be abroad that week.

I don't know if this exists in the American folklore, but it's a bit like "babies are delivered by storks".It's a story people tell to their kids when they are too young to learn how babies are made :- Boys are born in cabbages- Girls are born in rosesBasically, that means nobody told Grovy about the real thing and h'es still naive enough to be stuck with the old kid's-story version.

Oh man what the hell happened with the broadcasting of episode eighteen? Not only did they just show mini-wakfu on France 3 instead of eighteen, but they advertised on preview for episode 23 that it was going to be aired today. Of course, episode 23 is being scheduled for the 20th, not today... ugh.
Just a fyi, I'm only seeding ep 01-15 for that complete wakfu torrent, but I upped 175+ gigs so far.Are there any softsubs for those episodes, though? Hardsubs have even worse quality, and often the subtitles are on black bars, which make it impossible to watch them on my tv.
>watch trailer of 23AnkamaI am disappoint
>>23676you mean you DIDN'T realise the episode titled "dofus" would be... well.. about finding the dofus, as opposed to eva/pine shipping?
trailer of 23 ep, its not loadin. what the crap.\
>>23678loads fine for me. Check your browser?crazy old osamodas watching the dofus? Why was there no Tofu!Adamai shown? Goddammit, this should have aired today, not in a week.
>>23677ok..yougo finds dofus... and what he do with it?
>>23688well, nox mentioned that he needs a dragon AND the tree of life. So he will have to kill either Adamai or Grou's dofus. Come to think of it... some people suspect Grougaloragran to be resurrected inside of his dofus. What if it's HIS, as in his child? What if we get 2 new characters, another eliatrope (hence the red-hatted girl popping up for no reason) and another dragon?>>23686yes there wasfirst frames
It IS Grougal's dofus, but I'm not sure if that means there is an eliatrope and a dragon inside of it. Grougal was very very old. Dragons have always laid eggs but they didn't start having eliatropes in them until later. Although it would be kind of neat to see that. Because that would mean Grougal had fallen in love. But do all dragons, regardless of gender, really lay eggs?
>>23694Maybe he plowed another dragon, she died and he kept it for her?
the way I understood it it was his own childhood dofus, not one he (or a partner) laid
wait, so the cracked egg shell that Grougal came from, THAT's the dofus people are talking about? Doesn't really make sense to me.I guess it does no good to speculate until after the 20th...
Ok guys, big news! I got a leak from Ankama about the nature of the dofus they are looking for! They got really mad because it was supposed to be hush-hush but...After beating the blue hobo, Yugo and Adamai learn that they have to recover six other dofus (dragon eggs)(ones that Ogrest stole)... in order to summon... the great dragon!
best be jokingshit just got lame
....and in several hundreds of episodes time will Yugo find out that Eliatropes can go Super-Eliatrope-Jin and teleport entire planets?

>>23917damn, link seems broken. Re-uploadinghttp://www.megaupload.com/?d=KG25Q9RD
Also Caedo, as you may have noticed, I've decided to translate the names of the pets. This time it seemed appropriate for these are names made by kids based on how they see the animals, rather than individual own names. This is especially for Igole / Oeil fou / CrazyEye .I also took the common names (Bow wow, Bow Meow, Boowolf, Piwi, prespic) from the official english version of the Dofus bestiary.
>>23923<3
:'( wish I knew french, I only recognize a few phrases here and there.
>>23923 Noted, and I agree in this case, particularly if they are names based on translatable qualities. The only naming translation I'll oppose, as stated previously, are proper names that are not descriptives. How comfortable are you with the English conversions you've made?Oh, and an aside, if you see this post soon, Megaupload seems to be in retard-mode again and is denying links. Could you or someone who has successfully grabbed the transcript drop it to the email I use on these boards?
Is there an official english dub coming out?
>>23928>How comfortable are you with the English conversions you've made? I was just curious to how "Bow Wow" and "Bow Meow" sound to a random english speaking person. For someone who knows about the games, they will understand, but for someone who don't, do they respectively evoke something like "doggy" and "kitty" ?Also, I didn't translate Raoul, as it is an existing first name, and Poulopo, which is supposed to sound like "poule-au-pot" (Boiled chicken) but had no meaningful link with the species of the animal (moskito)Finally, for Igole's new name, I hesitated between "Crazy Eye" and "Silly Eye". The first is supposedly more close to the french word (Oeil fou), but both can match. Pick whichever you feel sounds and fit better in the context. Also, I mailed you the file.
>>23929Ankama said the english DVDs would have both a dubbed version and an original version with subtitles. However, it it very likely that what they call the "english DVDs" will not be the ones coming in april/may (french only) and we will have to wait for an english speaking channel to buy the series and broadcast it first. That's just moneymaking logic. Now, it is still unknown if Ankama will dub the english version themselves, or let the buyers do it themselves (which is the most common case). However, they said that, should the dubs be made by someone else, they would at least have their word to say on the choices for the VA.
>>23928Use mediafire

you are all brilliant, and I love you.
http://www.demonoid.com/files/details/2179668/42679728/Made a torrent for Episode 23, with the .mp4 file and the English script.
Good god, the artifacting is all over the place. Will there be a better rip or is this the web MP4 all subbers gonna have for now?
>>23942Unless someone records the broadcast on France 3, that's all we ever get.
>>23942 It's not just the artifacts, but the framing errors that piss me off. Ep22 had them too.Whoever encodes these videos is a total retard.
Also, I think we need another topic again, 800+ posts make this lag hard.
>>23942 Yep, the web streams are pretty terrible. I'm now working with a wonderfully helpful individual who tries to do broadcast captures. They're analogue SD so they have their own set of issues, but in the main are typically far 'less bad' than the web streams. I typically release them as V2's as I like to spend more time trying to clean them up. >>23947 See above! >>23949 Yes, those that do the encoding work have been saying so for ages. Really, if Ankama wants some help they need but ask; there are several obviously more competent encoders on these boards.>>23950I propose opening the next one after 23 has been released.

delicious recycled Yugo animations from ep9 and 21, mirrored to move left instead.
@Caedo : for some unknown reason, France3 did not broadcast the credits this time, and ended the show after the Yugo/Adamai talk. So there might be some more editing (and maybe recapturing) to add them (would be a shame to skip Lotie playing with Igole ^^ )Also, I really hate that huge watermark on the bottom of the screen, why do they have to make it this big and intrusive ? they already have the watermark from the channel on the top right corner. Damned France 3.
>>23949Web streams are really awful indeed. That's all the more strange that only Wakfu episodes are impacted. All other videos on Ankama's web TV play nice. And France 3's broadcasts are only just a little less bad since they started to put fuckin' big logos and inserts all over the place. This week they even skipped the end credits of the episode.Well, I guess this is still better than last week when they skipped the whole episode!Anyway I'm starting to wonder if they're not doing this in the Japanese TV way, that is: "make free broadcasts as terrible as possible so that people will have to buy the DVD release"...
Already impatient for 24. God damn it.
What did the osamodas say that got reversed in the most recent episode? Anyone know? How could we go about finding out?Chances are it's rude.
>>23962That's supposed to be draconic language.
>>23965Even draconic language actually means stuff. All those symbols you see? They spell shit in French. The reversed speak will almost definitely communicate something, when put the right way. It's how Ankama rolls.
>>23966Yes, but only the creators know how to decipher it at the moment (let alone what it means), unless we can get some linguistics professors/experts in here.
>>23962The language is French read backward indeed. Here's a translation of what I could understand; some words are not really clear:- "Listen! The Great Grorelouragran will be reborn if, and only if, the contract of the dragons on the Table is named."- "And there it's written: the origin of originals doesn't have proper originality. The dung of drag-" and he doesn't finish the sentence.- "If Garguenougueunan and his guardian are on the same boat, splash splash does the dofus!"
>>23967No! Not true! The alphabet is in the art book! I've been too busy to piece it all together myself though, and I don't know French anyway. Enterprising nerds feel free to go through the episode a piece together the meanings.
Wait, So how does this English script work exactly?
>>23972Like this: We wait for Caedo to finish subbing.
>>23972you open it in a text reader and use a device called "your eyes" to read it.It's not meant to be practical or elegant, but it helps the subbers do their work, and the audience understand the episode until the subbing work is done.
>>23974>>23973Oh, I thought you had to open it with the video file or something
>>23975.rtf: rich text format. Readable by all word processors.
I wonder - may the high quality video be available, as it was for "Rubilax"?
>>23970I like how "M" and "W" are still the same character except inverted.
These subbers need to pick up the pace
Cool, you can see similarities in the "z" and "s", "m" and "w", "q" and "o"... pretty well done huh?
Wow, this thread is the "most useless" compared to the others... I'm not complying it is just that the first one had a bazillion episodes, the second one was THE RAGE and this one... i think only gave ep. 21 to 23... of course the fault is Ankama's, with the delays and the closure of vialou's site... but everyone is doing an excelent job, I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE DUBS...
>>23970 WAIT WAIT WAITThe artbook is bilingual? I need details please. Does it only have english+french on some parts, or is it english+french throughout the whole thing? THIS IS IMPORTANT FOR ME.
>>23986whole thing.
>>23988Oh nice, just ordered it myself. Spent $90 on art books already this year, another $30 won't hurt.
Now Yugo has his own stinky Bag of Holding.
>>23983So then do it yourself.
>>23986it's right there on their site, you can read the first few pages. Sadly, it's only about ep. 1&2
>>23993the one for 3&4 is out next month IIRC
>>23988 ZING, BOUGHT IT!
>>23930 Crazy Eye sounds vicious. Silly eye sounds almost affectionate, like something you would say to a friend that has a twitchy eye. I say go with Crazy Eye. Or better yet, use Crazy Eye while the creature is Nox's insane Nemesis goon and Silly Eye while he is a normal pet. Could work.
How do you guys suggest watching episode 23 by using the script?
>>23999I'm waiting for subs for a seamless experience
>>23999Watch the raw, read script afterward. It's not like you'll immediately forget what happened.Alternately, pause while watching show to read translation.
>>23998Well, this is how an innocent little girl names him, so I'm thinking more and more that "Silly Eye" would fit better ...In the context, it seems to refer more to his funny "derp" look, and the fact that his eyes are, if I may say so, "saying hello to each other", rather than the fact that it gives him a psycho look. It's definitely affectionate from the little girl.
>>24003Lazy Eye?I'll stick with the script for now, it's easy to make changes.Quick update:Rough Timing 22/22Fine Timine 13/22'I spent a bit more time working the encodes than editing yesterday, hence the slight delay. On the other hand the result is that the broadcast rip will be released as the v1.
>>24003Crazy eye fits far better, kids say the truth while being affectionate, even if it can be interpreted as offensive. My nephews and nieces call one of their grandparents "Bird leg", because of his polio. Kids tell it like they see it.
'Crazy' is like wild and frightening. 'Silly' is like funny and clownish. Depends on who's calling him that, I guess...
Personally I'm fond of crazy eye, I mean, I've used crazy as an endearment often enough. Silly eye does sound fine as well though. Much love to our subbers for their time & effort!

>>24031Well these are fan translators. Can't they just start calling him Tristepin? The already called him Pipoun in ep 22 instead of Grovy.
>>24035That was because Pipoun was a different nickname. 'Grovy' is off of 'Pinpin', 'Pipoun' is an entirely different name (which my translator put in as 'Groggy' and was promptly ignored).

nice
oh fuck, I lol'd
>>24080There must be something nice I can do for all your effort. Otherwise I feel this is extremely one sided - especially as some posters in this thread are being so fucking rude to you.
I have an idea on something ankama can not possibly prosecute us on. If one of us were to buy something like the ankama art book and mail copies to the translators, ankama would have zero case against us.
None of us (at least as far as I'm aware) participate in the hopes of material gains. We have the ability to contribute, so we do. Speaking for myself, a simple 'thank you' is more than enough. Truly it's the thought that counts.Besides, I'm but a piece in the machine. You just see my name as I'm the last step in the process. We don't have a blog or wiki to post on anymore, so it has to come from someone!
>>24089Such a noble spirit.I thank you from the bottom of my soul.
>>24089In that case, thank you from the bottom of my heart. I mean it.
>>24089To my knowledge, the machine only has two pieces now. You and Frenchy.
The softsubs never work for me and it makes me sad.Honestly I have no idea why, the opening credits lyrics show up on the top of the screen, but never any english at the bottom.hardsubGO
Much obliged, subber bros.
>>24094 and >>23553You seem a bit bitter in your last few messages. Is there something wrong with me delivering translations ?I'm doing this because I like it and I want to contribute to the Wakfu fans community. But at no point did I have the intention of stealing anyone's credits for what has been done before. Also, don't blame me for being quick, that's mostly enthusiasm from me, again no will to deny anyone's work.If you still want to provide your own translated scripts, feel free to do so. Crossing multiple sources is in fact better for the final subs. (Even in ep.23, some adjustments were made from my initial scripts, and they are mostly improvements)
>>24094 To my knowledge, the machine has 3 pieces. There's also the 'less bad' France 3's raw provider.

I am well away from any computers at the moment, so can someone convert subbed ep.23 to avi/divx and megaupload it? That should work on my smartphone.

>>24098Nope, no bitterness here. A bit of jealousy, maybe. And maybe a little sadness at not being part of something I love anymore, but that's all basically overwhelmed by how much faster the episodes come out.

I just wanted to say, I love this thread. This show is awesome, and you are also awesome for subbing it and doing a fucking great job on it.You win some internets.
does anyone know when the Noximilien l'Horloger special will be coming out? unless i read incorrectly the wakfu wikipedia article states it will be bonus content on a dvd release. so does anyone know when this will be
>>24135The suggestion has been that it will air after episode 26.
>>24135Initially planned to be aired with episode 23.Then postponed to the end of the serie by France 3.Then ... we don't know for sure. Rumors say (so take the following with a grain of salt) that France 3 is a bit reluctant to air it due to completely different style and darker tone, and Tot, the artistic director, is negotiating to keep it on schedule. If it wasn't aired on France 3, then there are two remaining possibilities : Ankama's webTV or DVD bonus.
>>24112I think you linked to the wrong upload. The file in question is a .flv and the description on MU says its Wakfu eps 8 Raw.
Here's a 'V2' of Wakfu 23 I had some fun making today. The main difference is that I've appended end credits from Ankama's web release to Caedo's release.I've also added a somewhat unstyled subtitles track to the file, so that you can now choose between nice blue or plain white arial fonts (styled subtitles are still the default track though).Enjoy!http://www.megaupload.com/?d=X8X9VDFW
I'm sure it's quite possible that I may have missed 'em somewhere in the thread, but does anyone have any links to the (I could be wrong about their existence) few English-dubbed episodes?I can speak French, but I'd still be interested to hear them.
Hey! You're all waiting for Wakfu 24 on next saturday right?Well... France 3's motherfuckers are glad to announce that you will have to wait again, well, about another 2 months!Actually France 3 wants to make a special event, airing episodes 24, 25 and 26 at the same time, on... June 5th!Let's all curse them for this GREAT idea! Some good news though: it's confirmed that Noximilien l'Horloger's special will air soon after on France 4.
>June 5thGODAMMMMMMMMMMIT!
pretty interesting for those who want to see what non-Wakfu things Ankama's cooking up.http://www.ankama.jp/jp
>>24148Technycally, they didn't even announced it. Like all the postpones of the last few months, they make a decision at the last minute, pick up the phone, call Ankama, and they're like : "Whoops, looks like we accidentally the whole episode, would you mind telling the audience for us ? kthxbai.PS : good luck wth the nerdrage lol"And another poisoned gift from France 3 is the Nox special episode. Sure, it's a good thing this episode is confirmed .... yet, they are still fucking with us, let me explain :It will be aired on a different channel (France 4) belonging to the same group. The thing is, France 3 is a hertzian analog channel, so you can watch it pretty much anywhere in France with a basic TV. France 4, however, is a digital terrestrial television channel which means that not all parts of the country can recieve it (the network is still on development) and furthermore, it requires a special decoder, and the households equipped with it are still not a majority. This means they fuck up a lot of their auience which will not be able to see this special episode on TV.damn fuckers .... -_-'also, if you can read french, there's a petition running, that will be adressed to France 3 (though I doubt it has a chance to change their mind, but at least we can try)http://www.mesopinions.com/Pour-l-annulation-du-report-de-diffusion-des-episodes-Wakfu-au-5-juin-petition-petitions-dd98969e624d067e9933c5ce1c7791fc.html
>>24153The fact that the Nox special will air on France 4 is no surprise though. France 3 basically doesn't want to broadcast this episode because it's 'too special' for them.So having it aired on a lesser audience channel is the best compromise Ankama could get IMO...
Finding another channel to team with for the next season and potential further productions would be an even better compromise. The situation has changed in two years. France 3 had the upper hand, as Ankama Animation hadn't shown its worth yet, and was dependent on finding a partner to buy and broadcast their show. But now that the series have recieved some prizes, recognition, and a huge audience and fanbase, Ankama is in a strong position to negociate and impose its conditions on the broadcasting of their productions. They'd better find another channel with a less shitty behavior. After all, such gaps between the airing of new episodes could be seen as a prejudice to the value of the series, as the audience tend to get upset and give up, or at best, get lost with the plot.
>>24157Another channel? I agree... But which one?I may sound pessimistic, but I can't see many channels today that would have a less shitty behaviour than France 3. Most channels with a proper audience belong to groups like France TV, TF1, M6 and AB. And they're not especially known for any wonderful behaviour they show toward the broadcast of their youth programs. Moreover, even if Ankama is now in a stronger position to negociate, they're still far to be strong enough to impose much on those groups.Broadcasting on a lesser channel would be nice (I'd like to see Wakfu on Nolife as far as I'm concerned!), but this means a lesser audience. So my guess is that Ankama will go on with France 3. I just hope they'll negociate better broadcasting conditions for season 2.
Online broadcasting could also be involved. Or at least, the right for them to put the episodes online on their webTV according to a predetermined schedule, wether or not said episode has been aires on TV or not.Said schedule would allow some margin fo the channel to maneuver and still air their episodes before they go online, having some form of exclusivity, but it would also prevent abusive postponing like we're experiencing now.I should also mention that postponing the last episodes also postpone the release of the DVDs, and so, Ankama could argue that they get some form of financial prejudice.
If Ankama can at least break the exclusive rights for the broadcast, and negociate some way to release episodes on their web TV whether or not they aired on TV; it'll be a great improvement indeed.However I'm once again kinda pessimistic about this... ^_^;
>>22818Sorry for being completely off topic, but I just noticed in the above pic. An Eliaptrope named Chell. A portal user named Chell. There's no way that's a coincidence.
What the fuck, the series is messed with AGAIN? Jesus fucking christ the preview has been taken down and everything. Are those fucking idiots insane?
Oh, man. That's horrible. They finally give us another taste of Wakfu, and then take it away again. Are they trying to make us drool? Cry?UGHHHHH

>>24153So, in parlance a Brit like me can recognise, this is a lot like BBC1 postponing transmission of their CBBC Saturday morning centrepiece for three months, and promising to air an accompanying special straight afterwards on BBC3 or the CBBC channel to an audience of around 72 people with a Freeview box?Well that sucks, especially for a public service broadcaster. Still, it's enough time for me to get down to writing that fanfic I was planning, before it becomes obsolete...*self-serving bastardness*
>>24108The preview pages have the official English name for those cute little watery things from ep5! The Dripples! Someone needs to edit the wiki article so it doesn't say 'Puddlings' anymore.
>>24162This is a fanart of someones in-game characters, no more, no less. No, that's no coincidence, but it doesn't mean anything more than a random player naming his character after another famous character due to similar powers.
>>24178pretty much, yes, that's a good comparison
France 3 is truly the Fox of Europe...Way to try and murder a series halfway through...The Olympics were apparently the reason for the last time. What now? Football?
>>24183Just some lame marketing reasons... -_-
i roll to disbelievei roll to disbelievei disbelieve DAMNIT
"Following a change of strategy, the episode 24 of Wakfu "Homecoming", as expected, will unfortunately not be released Saturday, March 27, as agreed. Your deception will certainly be as large as ours, and we offer our sincere apologies. However, we still a "good" news for you ... The importance of the series Wakfu is undeniable, and to create a significant event the end of Season 1, France Televisions has scheduled a special day, placed under the sign of Wakfu! Thus, Saturday, June 5, on France 3, you will be pleased to discover the last 3 episodes following the season 1 of Wakfu. But that's not all, France 4 invites you to discover in the wake his 27th episode of Wakfu, "Noximilien watchmaker, some of you have heard of ... A little patience then, but now one day you will remember! "
>>24150"Remy a Boheme" looks good!
I... why? Damn. Being kind of "the one who spreads the Wakfu goodness" amongst my friends, I hated to tell'em each time it was postponed... and now, this is like... I hate making people sad.
>>24153> a lot of their audience which will not be able to see this special episode on TV.As with every previous Wakfu airing it'll also be on the net. DON'T PANIC.FAKE EDIT: ah yeah, "on TV", hadn't seen that. Well then, yes. But still, if they're actually interested they'll watch it online.>>24178More or less. The comparison is apt IF BBC3 and CBBC tend to show different, less widestream stuff from the primary channel. Cause that's the reason Nox is on france4.You guys have to understand the Nox episode had been problematic for months for France3. Ankama's gained a lot of pull with France3 the last year thanks to the excellent ratings for Wakfu, and so they were able to get more daring and unusual with what they showed, but it had been mentioned for months the Nox episode was just too much for what France3 could allow for a saturday morning cartoon slot. Ankama bet they could convince them to stretch their criteria even further than had been done, and for that single one (well, possibly the Goultard short too) the bet didn't work and so the france4 compromise was reached. It's not a bad compromise, better than what the echoes on the french Catsuka forum were hinting at, a net-only showing for Nox.The decision to shove the last few regular episodes to june 5 is unrelated and marketing driven (drive up the hype shortly before the summer pause, to prepare the coming of the second season), so that one's sadder. Petition won't work.
I don't know what's worse... waiting three months or having the entire season finale come out in a lump...I can't watch something as important as a season finale without subs! I will go crazy.Ok, i need to breathe.
>>24192Kinda feels like the third season of Avatar.
>>24191Yeah I never meant there was no way to watch it at all, and I bet there will be a lot of online audience.I just highlighted the irony that a TV group thought the best way to air their programs was to encourage people to watch it in the interweb rather than ... on TV.
>>24191of course petition wont work , it never did.goddamn i want to go to france 3 wearing anonymous mask and yell somethign like "show us the new wakfu episodes"
this is kinda related.. i have found few Wakfu episodes.. dubbed in Polish (i'm from Poland) http://www.kreskoweczki.pl/full.php terrible quality but why not check?
>>24197http://www.kreskoweczki.pl/wakfu/i'm ashamed about the dubbing quality... the character voices sucks.
>>24195>the irony that a TV group thought the best way to air their programs was to encourage people to watch it in the interweb rather than ... on TV.Irony? There's no irony at all, once you realize who's involved with what. The TV group, france television doesn't give a fuck about the web (beyond the usual service of providing online part of what they air on TV, and so an episode not shown on France3 won't be on the Ludo site either), their decision here was air it/not air it, finally settled as air-it-on-a-non-kid-venue.The decision to show it online is solely to attribute to Ankama, which is not a TV group but the main producer/publisher and since it's a web company at its root there's nothing ironic regarding their confidence in the medium.
>>24191>More or less. The comparison is apt IF BBC3 and CBBC tend to show different, less widestream stuff from the primary channel. Cause that's the reason Nox is on france4. I see. I guess BBC3 is the closest comparison, then. Whenever a Doctor Who episode premieres on BBC1 (the BBC's primary terrestrial channel), viewers are invited to switch over to BBC3 (a newer digital channel for 20-somethings and cult viewers) after the episode for a special 'making of' program. BBCs 3 and 4 are usually the testing grounds for riskier programs that then 'graduate' to the terrestrial BBCs 1 and 2 if they make a large enough impact (e.g. The Thick of It and Being Human).Still, from the way everyone's treating the news, I gather France4 hasn't wormed its way into the affectionate hearts of Frenchmen and women in the same way BBC3 and BBC4 have?
>>24199They DO give a fuck, a lot, like most french TV channels that have finally realised the internet is slightly replacing TV the way TV replaced Radio in the 60's.In the 90's, when the Internet really broke through, most of its TV coverage was about a technological curiosity (in early years) and then how wonderful it was and all the possibilities it opened. Then there was a shift in the beginning of the years 2000's when most of the coverage went almost exclusively to the dangers of the internet (frauds, porn, cybercriminality) and especially MMORPGs (addiction syndrome and so on ..). Not only was it exclusively a coverage of the bad aspects, it was also severely biaised, often staged, if not completely wrong and libellous. They simply realised that someone spending its time on the internet or videogames is not spending its time in front of their commercials, hence lowering the money value of commercials airing time.Patrick Le Lay, executive vice president of TF1 was famous for putting it in a rather brutal, yet realistic and honest way : "The job of a TV channel is selling some time of aviable brain to Coca Cola, so they can promote their products".
>>24198That is quite interesting, on several levels. This seems like a totally legit dubbing made by a Polish TV channel (ZigZap) and already broadcasted (seems they aired episode 6 today at 4:30 pm, from what I could see on their website http://www.zigzap.tv/program/?2010.03.26This means that the show has, in fact, already been sold to foreign channels for some times (time spent on dubbing, plus airing up to episode 6 so far) and they can already broadcast episodes, as long as France 3 has already broadcasted them. Now, my fellow english speaking anons, it's time to harras your local TV channels and tell them they have a superb series to acquire, with almost guaranteed audience. Also, about the voice acting of the polish dubs, I don't understand the language, so I can't judge the translations, and it's pretty hard to judge the acting, but it doesn't seem so bad to me (most of the english dubs I have seen are far worse, like people reading the script without caring about what's happening on the screen). The voices fit pretty well, except maybe Eva who needs either a slightly higher pitch, or a little more sensual acting. She sounds like a 40 year old babouchka.
>>24202why thank you. It's so ironic.I was the first guy who showed wakfu on 4chan and now i can see it on cable in polish... if i had cable.you are correct , polish voice of Eva is dull and like if she read her text instead of speaking. rest is... bearable.Even Nox. oh, and theres a goddamn 72 minutes watching limit on that site... Gouldens = Kamas . pfffrt.
>>24201Nah, the only thing that's changed is they offer part of what they show on TV on the net too. But you won't see net-only stuff from any of those networks, which was my point. To them it's an extension, a spinoff, not a shift, and so the TV side still dictates what happens, and France 3 never even vaguely considered airing Nox on their website without airing it on TV.And their net/games coverage is still as biased as ever.
You mean to say that POLAND is getting wakfus before US? just wowAlso eva sounds 40

>>24213I was the first to sub it, not to show it. I got introduced to Wakfu through a 4chan thread when the first version of episode 3 was released, so obviously I couldn't be the one who introduced it.
>>24245thanks for clearing this up... it was like 2 years ago , they showed the pilot episode (5th one) , then episode ep 3 with different voices...
>>24245Can anyone confirm his identity? That tripcode came a little suddenly and conveniently. As a side note, don't listen to any material requests just in case he is fake.
>>24247does it matter? it's not like we are getting paid for it.
>>24247>Can anyone confirm his identity?Roffle. No, nobody can, because on 4chan I didn't use a tripcode, I only started using it here on the bigass wakfu threads. However I guess if you were to find some obsessive guy who'd have saved the 4chan threads from back around when the whole thing started you'd see the information I offer is factually correct and thus whether I'm me or an evil doppelganger doesn't actually matter, as polfag pointed out.
So, sorta good news ....Ankama's boss, Tot, posted a few message on their forums to calm down all the shitstorm with the postponing of the end of the season by France 3.Among all the explainations and apologies, he mentioned something nteresting. He said that they'll have a team meeting next week to decide what to do in order to help the wait and apologise for the inconvenience. Among other things, releasing the Goultard special episode might be an option. ("might" being the relevant word here, no promises yet)For those who speak french, here's the source :http://forum.wakfu.com/fr/index.php?s=&showtopic=63359&view=findpost&p=843678(messages # 205, #214 and especially #220)
>>24255Sounds like a Kansas city shuffle to me. Given the abundance of Ankama insight videos, they wouldn't be able to shut their gob about actually having an episode of their original pilot of ultraviolence and sexual tyrannosaurus that is Goultard le barbare. Then again, Starcraft2 AND Fallout 3 were both quiet as a mouse all the way until beta screenshots started popping up. Not to mention Half life ep3, we know literally nothing about that...
i have a suspiction polish version is based on english... in the Vampyro episode Ombrage is called Shadowfang....
>>24267they aren't bad... I know "if it's polish it must suck" deal but to be perfectly honest - they aren't bad. Except Eva of course, she's fucking terrible. But others... are good. Especially Yugo and Grovy.
I agree with the Polfags... I don't even speak Polish, but I can tell that the voices in the Polish dub (excluding Eva) are actually very well done and close to the French ones.I'm just confused as to why they didn't dub it in the largest market first. Have they made any comments about the Polish dub on the official forums?
>>24270check my gg if you are above 12.sir Percival - Tristepin . Misiek - Pin pin. >>24271we dont have any official forum for this cartoon , not even thread on Zig zap channel, but no wonder, it's a barely watched tv channel.
>>24255http://forum.wakfu.com/fr/index.php?s=&showtopic=63359&view=findpost&p=843678 Here's a translation of Tot's messages on this thread. He posted again today and there's a lot of interesting info. I've added the references of his posts in the thread.#205"I think some of you people are a bit extreme in your comments. I perfectly understand your dissapointment, but let's all keep cool. To be honest, I, myself, experienced this decision very badly. It's been a few months I've been waiting to see your reaction on the end of the series. I'm very happy with the ending and really looking forward to reading your comments. Waiting 2 more months is, for me, I think, at least as complicated as it is for you (and I think I'm speaking for the whole animation team here). On our part, episodes are finished. Just a few modifications left on episode 26 and the whole season 1 will be done. A lot of you guys are attacking France 3 without real reasons. I'd like to remind you that without this channel, we could never launch the series. It's as simple as that. From what they explained us, that choice was to protect the series. Audiences from the last exclusive episode have been low, and they were wondering about their strategy. We're not the ones to judge their decisions, they know what they're doing. If someone is to blame, it's Ankama. If we had produced the episodes sooner, they would already have been aired. That's our first series and we've been "slow", we'll make things so that it works better for season 2.So, we will all wait nine weeks more to get the end of this season and I will stamp on my feet waiting for your reactions. Also, a big hour-long of Wakfu on a saturday morning, that's pretty hot, I wish I'm already there. :)Thanks everyone for your patience and see you soon on the forums to speak about it.We will do everything that's possible so that season 2 will occur in better conditions."
#214"I would be very surprised if people from France 3 were coming on these forums to read the 12 pages of comments. No harm intended, but I don't think that's their thing. When I'm defending them, that's not to be the token little creep, but really because they're worth it.They've been following us from the beginning, and I can assert without having worked with other channels, that we would never have had this kind of flexibility for creation with another channel.Episodes like "Grougal the eternal" or "Rubilax" wouldn't have made it anyxhere else.A series such as Wakfu, 100% french production on top of that, has never been seen on TV. And there was only this channel to do it, imho.Even if I don't always understand them, France 3 are my friends. Now, we're gonna try to think on our side about means to bring you something, as an apology. I have a few ideas in mind. I'll have a meeting next week with poeple involved and we'll talk about it.good week-end, and again, all my apologies for the dissapointment."#220(answering to someone who suggested the Goultard secial episode)"Good finding about Goultard le Barbare, that was my first idea"#227"Hey, calm down buddies.I have to talk about it first with the team. If we decide to bring you Goultard le Barbare, we will first have to rework on the episode. That's our very first animation and things have to be fixed. Starting with the Voice Acting."
#234(answering to a comment about the low audience of episode 23)"Thanks for creating an account just for that comment.Wakfu was not the only one in cause, it's the whole Ludo bracket from France 3 that experienced a low audience. I don't think it's worth dramatizing, since it was still one of the best audience at that specific time. But that was almost half as usual. The programs director for youth, who had a lot at stake, then preferred to take time and analyze the problem, rather than firing his last shots with the exclusive episodes, just when the audience gets low. We will work on advertising yo boost the series back.It should be known that France 3 gave almost one third of the budget of the series, and that's a big investment for them. They might be doing strategic mistakes (time will tell), but we can't blame them for lacking respect with the project. You may see this as a form of treachery, and I was myself pretty shocked, but there are reasons.Anyways, we will try to make you forgive us, even if, as some of you point out, this kind of situation is turning frequent from Ankama. I might be one of the leaders, but I understand perfectly your irritation. We frequently underestimate the amount of work required for our projects. Episodes from the series, so to speak, take an incredible amount of time. You may be tired with that wait, but be aware that on our side, we're not slacking and our teams have it hard. Some people at France 3 reproached us for being too perfectionists, and making mini-movies, rather than episodes for a series. In a way, I perfectly agree with them. That's because of our "artists' " behavior that we're late... But it's also thanks to this, that today's children will remember the series in ten years, the same way we remember Ulysses 31 or the Mysterious Cities of Gold... at least, that's what I hope.Anyways, I hope this season's end will be seen by most of you, and above all, that you'll like it. I shed some tears writing the two last episodes, and I hope it will be the same for you.
#241The DVD will be out soon, but clearly, I don't like the quality of the picture very much. I think it's a bit dissapointing compared to the picture we get on the screens during the editing. It's still better than on TV, but not yet close to the work provided by the teams. The DVD format has seriously aged with the arrival of Blueray. On the other hand, the sound of the series has been made into 5.1 and that really brings something.Anyways, Blueray, yes please. I will do everything I can so that we make one. Even if it's a small scale edition, the series is worth it imho. The price of the DVD will be 19,90 euros for 13 episodes and bonuses. Our retailer wanted to make it 14,90 but I went emo and explained them that it completely depreciated the series. Except for 20 years old series, no one nowadays is so cheap on the market. Not forgetting there are several good bonuses. The first DVD will be out in April, and logically, the second in August (but for that one, I'm a bit skeptical). We will try will try to release a special box set with all 27 episodes for Christmas. And for mister Gehef, Wakfu artbooks are really cool, I think you won't be dissapointed. That's the kind of project where I'm not sure we get our investment back, but it's such a pleasure for us to have them in our hands that in the end, it doesn't really matters."
btw, we should really make a new thread, this page is taking years to load.(and yes, I know my walls of text are not helping :p )

>>24271>I'm just confused as to why they didn't dub it in the largest market firstThat's because you're seeing the wrong big picture. The dubs are not interdependent. The company responsible for the polish version isn't the same one as the one responsible for the US version or the italian or mexican version or whatever, and so there's no hierarchy between them. Each company does whatever the fuck they want, and it turns out Poland was faster (or the US guys don't want to air it until the end of summer or whatever).
>>24276 > but I went emo and explained them that it completely depreciated the seriesAhaha, did he actually said it like that? With whatever is the french equalent of "emo"? This guy is awesome. Hell, every comment I hear from him makes me think "ONE OF US, ONE OF US".Anyway, 5.1 sound and decent SD quality is already way the fuck more than what we have now, so DVDs are extremely welcome. Especially 5.1 sound. I can barely imagine how fuckawesome that could be. Imagine the tripping scene with Eva shouting enough, except in proper 5.1 in your home movie theater. It's gonna be awesome.Frenchy anon, if you are posting there, can you ask Tot if the original (as in: whatever they release in france in the first run) dvds/blurays will include english subs? Tell him that if they release blurays with proper video quality and original 5.1 sound + english subtitles, then I, a non-french-speaker, will officially buy a Bluray player just for this. You can quote me on this if you want.
>>24285No of course he didnt said it like that but that was the general idea. More literally, it should be "I went literally into teenage angst/crisis"
Hmm, classic case of artists versus pragmatic delivery."Guys stop complaining that the broadcast is chopped to fuck and that France 3's idea of protecting the series is to completely sabotage it, our creativity and integrity is intact!"You can have both artistic integrity for creators and good broadcasting service and you must insist on it. It's not a case of bargaining innovative creation at the expense of competent broadcast allotment. That kind of thing reminds me of dodgy art galleries, with staff that will accept all manner of experimentation but can't hang an exhibition for shit. What happens to such galleries is they fail after a short time and the artists associated with them are left stranded.
Also, they already said that the first DVDs to be released in april and august would be French only. That's logical since releasing english version before any english channel airs it first would be economical suicide for the english market. However they said that the english version would be both english dubs, and french dubs with subs, for those who prefer french VA.About the bluerays, it's still a project and they won't be here 'till some time. However, consdering the efforts and resources it takes to release in blueray format for a company such as Ankama, it would be stupid not to include a maximum of features, including bonuses and multi languages.
>>24287>You can have both artistic integrity for creators and good broadcasting service and you must insist on itI beg to differ.Though I'm still angry at France 3 for doing this, Tot is right : other French channels would have been worse. It's not like they had a lot of choices to begin with and could insure propre broadcasting so easily.
so. what exactly happened to wakfu? when is the next episode coming out?
>>24291all the end of season 1 will be aired on june 5th, including the nox special episode
I'm pretty damn sure I'm going to want French audio with English subs. I don't see how they are going to pick proper English VAs.
>>24306All the foreign voices were approved by the french casting director, according to Ankama
Seen one of polish episodes, by accident to be honest.Well, from voices i've heard, Vampiro episodeEva - terribleRuel - alrightYugo - waaay too "young", compared to originalSadlygrove - nice one!Amalia - okRubliax - holy shit god tier.Vampiro - alright.Cheers.But i'am going to stick to the original hurr.
>>24307They already dubbed the first two episodes in English and approved them for show at an expo back when the series started. I don't have the torrent anymore, but to call the voices in that preview absolute shit would be far too kind. Just because Ankama approves it doesn't mean that it's going to be passable.
>>24310We've been over this before, the version showed at those events was with the dummy voices used for storyboard timing and lipsynch, which were in english for the first batch of episodes. They were used because back then the licensed english dub hadn't been started yet. The timing voices are underwhelming in french too, it's completely normal.
>>24312Alright, that's a relief. When I downloaded them they were being toted as the official dub. There's hope yet~
>>24308>rubilax - got tieryou gotta be kidding me, same actor as Grougal! watch first episode. Nox is 'meh'
Andrzej Gawroński as Ruel.Seriously, this guy appears in like every fucking polish dub.
>>24331lol, polish Deckard Kain from Diablo 2.polish dubbing sucks when it comes to dubbing tv shows and cartoons...hi budget animated movies are better but they too suffer from forced Celebrity voices.
source on the opening theme?
>>24383Ankama.
I think it might be time to start a new thread.
>>24386why not wait until the last 3 come out? It's not like we have something useful to talk about until then.
>>24395I'm afraid that there are people who regularly check in to this thread from day to day to see what news are coming up. Like me. So yes, perhaps we should continue in a new thread.
Oh like a 5 second load is too long. Let's celebrate with a new thead
Thankyou for episode 23. Also, June 5th is the time for the last three to air, correct ? With nothing in between? I guess I'm gonna have to go play Dofus now.
>>24413Check /coc/ every now and again, Ankama could pull something to make up for the delay in broadcast.
>>24421well.. what if they made more "'Powers of..." clips for Eva , Amalia and Groovy?
>>24432>powers: hipsi am ok with this
>>24025triste = sad(ly)pin = pine (for some reason they changed it to "grove"...)
>>24448'Pine' and 'tree' are synonymous in French. Since a group of trees is called a grove, and 'sadlygrove' sounds a hell of a lot better than 'sadlytree', I approve.
>>24449When I said "pine", I did mean as in "pine tree". Just any old tree would be an "arbre"...
better question: why the fuck would they translate it? They did not make Yugo into Huey, Ruel into Ruby, Amalia into Amy and Evangelyne into...into...FUCK
>>24455Somebody already said this before, because it's basically a compound word that any French person would understand, and they want the same effect in English.Anyways, don't the characters already call Evangelyne "Eva" sometimes?
>>24455That's because none of those names are descriptive, unlike Grovy's which is supposedly a given name related to an actual pine grove.
>>23476Hm. I seem to only be able to load up to this post. And even then, only part of it.
>>24465Wait... there it goes. Ooh! Episode 23. Aww. Another delay. Oh well. Time to check back in another month or so...
So hey guys, I've just realised that Wakfu Les Gardiens is actually a game based off the show, where you re-enact battles from... the show. And that's too bad since it's French and I have no idea how to even start playing (let alone where to get it). Here's the kicker: A lot of the music is the same as the show/anime/cartoon.I think you guys know where I'm going with this.
>>24470A game...based on a show...based on a game?
>>24471Yup, we've come a full circle.Ep 17 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ErkMEmscwMkEp 22 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AfmZTp-3WHQ
>>24473Better trailer for Les Gardiens.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oc-90-sFnXc4 Eliatropes versus Le Corbeau Noir (The Black Raven)? Awesome.
>1087 posts and 160 images omitted.I know there won't be any new episodes for a while, but... new thread? It feels necessary.
>>24470Is it just me or does the logo look final fantasy-ish?
>>24496It is a crime against humanity that Wakfu gets so little rule 34
>>24511>so little GOOD rule 34I got plentyOut of them, maybe 10 images are fap-worthy. If it's not ugly, it's wrong style. If it's not wrong style, it's sloppy. If it's not sloppy, it's samebody. Pic fucking related. That is a 12 year old with tits the size of Yugo's body.
>>24511Well it is still largely relatively unknown. So unless there are a bunch of French/Polish porn artists that are fans of the show we ain't gonna see much for a while. Also inb4 thread implodes.
>>24507Change the color scheme a little and see what happens.
>>24513I'm hoping the dub is at least half decent. Maybe once it is brought stateside, it'll get more attention. As far as I know, only 4chan and plus4chan knows about Wakfu.
>>24513Doesn't make much sense given the small army of amateur artists clinging like molluscs to the hull of Ankama. The only reason I can think of that they aren't drawing rule 34 of wakfu characters is they could be worried it would stop them from getting a job.
>>24522But even then, it might not get any rule 34 love. I remember seeing 4chan's /co/ be disappointed when Avatar was dubbed for Japan's Nickelodeon, because they were hoping for some reverse weeaboo doujins. As far as I know, none were made.
>>24523Maliki's fanart competition got 670 applications. That's for a webcomic sort-of associated with Ankama. If there was a competition to draw rule 34 of wakfu it would go from having a minute amount of porn to the most porn of any cartoon series ever.
How possible is it for us to hold a competition for Wakfu rule34? I can spare 100$...But kind of reluctant around the internet due to general trust issues...
FYI, ZONE is doing a Wakfu flash.
>>24534YES! YES! YEEEESSSSS!
while I'm not a huge fan of zone, I will have this.
DAMMIT DAMMIT DAMMITStupid subs showing up a single point large.I WANT TO READ WHAT IS GOING ON.
>>24522 >As far as I know, only 4chan and plus4chan knows about Wakfu.I think you guys need to get out of your little chan box and get some fresh air |: The only reason I'm even touching something with chan in its name is because the subbing thread is here. People outside of the chans know about Wakfu, just not as many as there would be if the show was airing where they lived, in their language.
>>24551NEW THREAD FTW
Is there / will there be an official release of the soundtrack? I'm totally amazed by the Nox vs. Grougaloragran theme.
↑ can anyone translate this?
>>24631It's been forever, but I think it goes like this:P1: "There aren't any cops anywhere." "This time, they attacked the car of an idiot."P2: "Is he home?" "Should maybe prevent the..." "No, it works! Hahaha!"P3: "Yo, Superman! There's a problem with your tire!"P4: "Yo! Superman!"P5: "Is he deaf or what? He doesn't have super-hearing!?" "Hahahaha!!"A shitty translation, but I think I kinda got it.
>>24633well, thanks
>>24548naw, there's like 50 billion people that responded to a video clip I uploaded that were either like "OMG WAKFU IS AWESOME" or "Where can I get more of this?" on YouTube and some other forum.
>>25192thank you
>>24512http://rule34.paheal.net/post/list/wakfu/1Enjoy? :3
>>24631Where can I read all of this? Just the French version will do fine.

>>25443Okay, done. Anyone who wants the DB, just ask me.
