The time is upon us, /co/mradesITT: discussion for starting our own channel, consisting of the various creative /co/mrades around the world who will work and strive to revive the spirit of cartoons that still lives in all of us.
I want this idea to work out. I really do.
>>15945So do I..So how are we going to make these cartoons? are we going to use flash or try to use older methods (although the older methods take FOREVER)also how are we going to organize this? we should probably make our own forum because an imageboard would only work for so long.
Voice actors/actresses on standby.
>>15947We should follow the Cartoonstitute's idea. We take some people who are used to writing and some who are used to flash or whatever medium they are better at and have them get together and make something awesome. There are plenty of examples of great flash mini-series people made on the cheap and are still extremely popular
hey are you guys keeping up with the original thread on /co/? if not someone made a tumblr
drawfag here, i could do some concept art. it's really hard to organize this though when everyone is anonymous.
>>15947i'm thinking for now, we need some people to come to the table with cartoon ideas and then we flesh them out from there. then develop designs, over arching plot, etc
>>15949I think we should try some new animators though.. like we can host script ideas on the site, then we can have the artists of the site try and make mock ups, then from that have people do some voice samples, if we like them we use them, and then have people animate it from that, whoever's we like best, gets it..I don't know, that may be too community oriented for some.. and i don't know if anything i just typed makes any since..
Here's the tumblr just for when the thread dieshttp://coproductions.tumblr.com/
>>15951 Here, I can make a forum real quick..PHPbb2 or PHPbb3?
>>15953What I meant was community oriented, I was just giving examples of good solid working ideas. Our /co/mmunity has tons of artists and doodlers to use as animators, and your idea is actually pretty good
I'd love to write something for someone who can draw something.
>>15952I've always had this idea for a short animation/comic about a young man and a bipedal walrus who are stranded on a floating island with a lighthouse and trying to rebuild a bi-plane to escape. I always sort of pictured it with a Victorian aesthetic. It's something, right? Someone will come up with something eventually. Here's your first shit idea.
>>15958good, we are getting this ball rolling
I could voice act or write.Traditional animation would take a really long time, and since we probably won't have too much funding, it isn't realistic. Computer programs and stuff for now.
>>15958no i like that, though it would need to be fine tuned.
I always wanted to see something like the Little Nemo comic strip done right in animation (not that the movie wasn't great it was just too short)
>>15961Okay, admission time then. I've got 12 page script I wrote a few years ago on my old computer.
Someone needs to make up a realistic list of jobs that will need to be filled, while compiling a list of software/hardware needed for it. The software is easy, we'll just pirate whatever programs we need.

>>15964the most basic off the top of my headeditorswritersartiststech peoplepeople who can photoshopstory boarders
Should we promote this on other websites? Also, the idea that was posted sounds good. And we already have a script, so even better!
>>15964yeah for sure, also we need to keep track of ideas pitched and have some kind of a user name for the people submitting them. Also if i where to go to sleep now would this thread 404 or is plus4chan different than 4chan?
>>15968All threads automatically archive after they die here, so no worries.
>>15967It's going to have to be fine-tuned, like Anon said. It's old, I wouldn't really feel comfortable posting it right now. I'd probably just do a total re-write before hand.
Having worked in the ad industry I shall do what I can to help.
>>15968plus4hcan is way different than 4chan, this topic could stay up for months
>>15969so if i wanted to find this thread 2mrw how would i go about that? Also sorry for straying from the dream...but its 4 in the morning where i am and i need to go to sleep lol
>>15967Im working on a website right now actually, I could probably be the tech-person too.although im poor so we are going to have to use a ".hostoi.com" domain for now.. I hope people are OK with this, and if needed I could use a .tk
>>15967maybe let's get it off the ground a little before we go there
>>15973Just come back to this web address or come tohttps://plus4chan.org/boards/coc/and it'll probably on the first page
>>15973It'll still be here. Maybe not on the first page, depending on how fast threads go here (I almost never come here) but trust me, it'll still be on /coc/.
drawfag reporting in, also I can do some photoshop
If people are going to start submitting their own artwork and ideas, and seeing as how this is 4chan and a common issue around the board, I'd like to address this now. Please, PLEASE no "furfaggotry biased" garbage. Anthropomorphic animals are a classic storytelling element and really help personify the characters sometimes, especially in fun friendlier stories. I would despise seeing someone with an idea for a cartoon but as soon as he says something like "so it would be these little bipedal mice that wear clothing who live in this lady's basement" he gets flooded with "LOL FURRY YIFF IN HELL".Respectively, I would also hate seeing anthropomorphic animals that add nothing to the plot other than the fact that they're animal people. Their animal features should be respective of their personalities a la Robin Hood or should just be animals humanized to identify with them a la Secret of NIMH. There should be a REASON for the anthros, not just for the sake of cosmetics.
ok cool, until 2mrw
>>15973Just bookmark it
I'm good with stop motion (my hobby has been claymation since I was in middle school) so maybe I could whip up some shorts for bumps or something
so what should the domain be?coproductionsco-productions orco.productions
>>15979Agreed. There she is! is a perfect example of how an animator today can use animal characters without it being "furfaggotry"
>>15983Claymation would be AWESOMEwe need more of that..
>>15985Brilliant, because the cat and rabbit species were a much more personified racist issue.
>Let’s show the world that we still have some creativity left, that there is still enthusiasm in our generation, not just for the past but for the future.>Let’s restore childhoods to the way they were meant to be.>This is a place we can share our creativity and begin projects that have the potential to mean something.>Let’s try to show the rest of the world that cartoons can matter.
>>15988We'll fix that up later. It's late everywhere that has 4chan.
>>15989 It's only 1am PST, I'm down to be up for a few more hours..anyway here is the stats to the site I'm working on, I think this will hold up, what about you guys?
i can help out with concept art/drawfag
>>15990I don't know anything about computers but it looks fine to me....Did everybody go to sleep?
>>15992I headed to Slumberland right now actually
>>15992im not, if you want to talk i can set up an IRC
set up an IRC for anyone who looks at this server : irc.rizon.netChannel: #Co-Productions
>>15995Nice!I'm probably going to sleep now, though. This is why I haven't left /co/. You guys are amazing. Anyways, until next time, everyone.
Also, restrict the length of the first animation. I would say that 30 seconds should be the maximum for the first animation. When more experience is gained, longer animation should be better doable.
It's ugly but done:http://co-productions.hostzi.com/phpBB2/index.phpneeds a better template but the one i made isn't working :/
>>15995I strongly suggest not posting this IRC in any thread in /co/, and especially no where else in 4chan. We don't want to encourage a raid.
I think the tumblr site is gone
It's 8:05 EST. Isn't everyone supposed to be meeting up for discussion around now?
>>16023That's what I thought.. maybe we should post a reminder in /co/?
>>16023They should. Some anon said they'd inform 4chan's /co/ during the day to see if anyone else was interested but I'm not sure they did
well i'm here and it seems like nothing has really changed since last night
Okay, I have to eat right now. But as soon as I get back I' gonna link the (hopefully) archived thread to 4chan and see how many I can get over here or the forum for some discussion
Uh, hello?I have some ideas for a few series and I would love to share them with you all.Is this the right thread for it?
Yes it is.
Writer and storyboard concept artist here. You know you want me... to help with this.
I've always wanted to see a superhero type series with the plot set to music of some sort. So that the punches, gunshots, etc. are in time with the bats and chords and whatnot.
>>16029Well, alright then. One is a series about aliens who team up to defeat an evil force in the galaxy. It begins with one alien, who loses his job and runs away from the plan his parents have for him. After running into some space pirates, he crash lands on a small, abandoned planet. There, he discovers an ex-henchman of the space pirates, jettisoned after rebelling against his superiors. Realizing they have a common enemy, they decide to team up and try to defeat the space pirate menace. If anyone is interested, I can go a bit further in what I have planned for the plot.
What I have been wanting to do forever? STEAMPUNK WORLD WAR TWO
>>16033Seconded. I want Hitler to have a steam-powered mobile fortress.
>>16035Fuck yeah. You are now second in command on writing it for that idea.We need some TOTES AWESOME drawings for concept art. Especially for tanks.
>>16032There's also my idea where a musician moves into an apartment and discovers it is inhabited by the ghost of a pianist; Turns out that his whole building used to be a recording studio, and that it's packed full of other lost souls who couldn't let their dreams of stardom fade away with their death.
Oi, I can write. I mean, I'm good at scripts.Hell, give me a few minutes on Gears of War and I can make a whole story out of a sentence.
This is what the Nazis will where on their face. It also needs some sort of pipe on the back connecting to a pack they where that has a pipe that comes out of it.Awesome.
Good ideas so far.I got an idea for a 12 year old kid who lives in a mental institution because he says he's the grim reaper (which he is). But he's a different kind of reaper, he goes out at night and hunts the murderers of innocents and reaps them
>>16040Instead of rape, how about intense psychological damage that leaves them in the same crazy-house that he is in. So he can always see and watch over who he has hunted.
>>16037I still need to come up with character designs for the first few main characters. I know the following for sure:The first main character is much shorter than the second one. The second one is tall and muscular, like a thug, but he's good-natured.>>16032This would work really well as a musical, in my opinion.
>>16042rape?
>>16044I meant reap. Typo'd.
Musicfag here. I could help write some original music for this project.
>>16045that sounds good too
The two stories I want to be a part of here. In order.Steampunk WW2Insane reaper guy
>>15943Haha, I made that /co/-productions logo. That's pretty awesome that it's still being passed around.I made a short intro animation as well using that logo. I'll upload it once my laptop comes in from the repair shop, which will hopefully be by Tuesday. If people do actually make some sort of animation, it could be used as a header. Eventually, I want to make a 3D animation of the logo.I would love to make an animation with you guys. I'm making something over 20(24?) weeks, starting after labor day. It will be a 3D animation. What it will be about, I'm not sure. I'm still trying to come up with an idea. But I'll be happy to provide updates on my work as it goes along, since feedback is always great to have. But yeah, if you guys want to truly make some cartoons, whatever you do, don't go overboard. Make shorts, don't plan for series. Make them no more than 7 minutes. Actually, they shouldn't even be longer than 3 minutes. And even that's pushing it. 1 minute and 30 seconds might be the best amount of time. As a rule, if you're making a script for your short, each page you write equals one minute of screentime, take or give some (if you're using the right format anyway). Be sure to go through the entire process; do some sketches, draw storyboards: pre-production is integral to whatever you are going to do. I'm sure there are other animators in this thread, so I may be giving useless advice, but if you want to make something and aren't going to school for it, or doing animation professionally, you may want to get some additional resources. For some great examples of characters animation, go to http://www.11secondclub.comYou can browse the entries, or even enter the monthly contests.I would also suggest getting "The Animator's Survival Kit" by Richard Williams, which you can get for about $20 from Amazon. Somebody made a forum, and that's great. Remember, feedback, is the best thing you can get. I don't know how effective it is to have members of an animation team being so far apart, and relying on the internet for communication. If a bunch of you guys are getting together to make something, someone will have to be in charge and enforce deadlines. Deadlines will be integral if anything is going to get done. And there is a good chance that like many /co/ projects, this will fall apart after a couple of days. It is hard to devote time to something like this when you're not getting paid for it, you aren't going to school for it, and especially when it might take weeks or months to get something done.I'm looking forward to it though. I'll definitely be happy to update on my progress at least.
>>16043Let's just call my first idea "Project Space".One of the major aspects of PS is the interaction of the aliens with humans. In this series, aliens are already on Earth, but in disguise. The coalition of all the planets have no idea how to reach out to us, as we are relatively isolated in the universe. So, things are in limbo. However, with the technology aliens have, they are able to disguise themselves as humans, and businesses exist to transport aliens to Earth for vacations and other activities. With all of this secrecy, not one alien has been known to have interacted with humans in any significant manner. This brings me to the one human main character in the entire cast. He is warped onto an alien planet and held captive by a wealthy creature until the two main characters rescue him. After they acquire a translator, which all sentient aliens wear, he joins the crew. He has to be disguised among strangers, though.
>>16049I am going to college soon for animation and such... That will be a big help.
God, now I'm vaguely excited about this. Plenty of rad ideas being passed around here, especially that steampunk WWII one.
>>16049Thanks for all the input, and especially for making the logo, I even remember the thread when it first got posted
From the writethread on /co/."America and the re-instated USSR have practically destroyed the entire world for the remaining resources on Earth. The US founded a large city in Africa once it was completely devoid of sentient life as to try to have the remaining civilians stay alive.Since they have anyone with any combat experience on the front lines fighting for fresh water, oil and other resources, they pretty much have the cities watch themselves. With commercialized weapons, armours and pretty much anything to fight a war with, the city has been over run by drug dealers, high crime rates, and increasing UFO paranoia.A college graduate, who happens to be the one of the few survivors of his generation after a dealer raid on the entire, last college of mankind, sets off with his friend, major in Computer Science and Programming to design his own wares as to fight off part of crime off the city streets. Not as vengeance, but because that day he survived through was a revelation that if the war doesn't kill humanity, they kill themselves from the inside. He sets off as a vigilante, and goes through numerous things such as:-Corrupt dealer running for public leader.-Both said dealer and his actions placing him as Public Enemy #1-Fighting off his henchmen.-A blast from the past that pretty much doomed the survival of mankind, which could be his fault.I've been putting a shiteload of heat into this, and I'm putting this out there. You people are lucky I trust you.Any suggestions, any problems with it, any questions, just say so."
>>16052You wont have to worry. I will at least get the scripts done. The rest is up to what help I get.
Any comments on the stuff I posted?
Anyone interested in helping me with the Steampunk WWII project? I want some art or examples before I start writing.
>>16057I'm interested in helping, but can only give ideas and story advice. Sorry if this isn't any help.
>>16058Any help is good help when it comes to this.
This thread will be here awhile so this isn't all going to line up tonight. I'll keep getting people to come here whenever I can so these ideas can get off the ground
So, my idea goes like this. The show or whatever starts with usually a nameless group of soldiers and one hero that later on becomes noticeable. But at first, he is just another nameless soldier. His group later on gets captured, which really pisses him off, especially after he is left dead by a nazi, that just tells him to run away. The story can be easily continued form there. But this is just off the top of my head to start out the story in a different manner from just showing his background. I want him to be nameless until you can truly gain some sort of bond with him. Like, he tells someone his name when you think he is about to die.Either that, or just some super epic war going on with the main hero already known, but not by the army. You see him rise in the show.
Here's an idea: Take a famous radio show from the 20's and 30's......And animate it.
>>16061I like where this is going. How about we move it over to the forum link given HERE>>15999And I'll start a thread in the relevant board, and try to get some more interest going here.
So. Any feedback on my story?
>>16070I think it's a good idea
Guys, what kind of cartoons do you think we'll be doing? Like, I don't think we could do a superhero cartoon unless we really had a great animator.
Guys, I heard Craig was kicked the shit out of CNDoes that mean no more "Sym-bionic Tytan"?
I always had this idea for a tv show that would be based on how a failed Nazi experiment for making an atomic bomb caused a huge battlefield of soldiers to become mutated and gain super powers. The twist is that its 60 years afterwords and now most of them are senile and crazy. Also it involved a plot about how rather than making bombs they instead mutate humans as new superweapons and the children of the initial batch. watcha think?
>>16072...You know, I usually like to hear a tad more.>>16073BTAS had mediocre animation in some episodes. It's not required to have a God-tier animator on.
