Bringing my idea over from 4chan /co/
here goes.

Alright, I just got this idea yesterday and the details are still a tad sketchy. It may seem a bit LOLRANDUM to some of you, but remember, cartoon logic is applied to this.
The story begins with Farley, Who is cartoonishly thin, tall, and bony, with a long nose and sunken cheeks. It is unknown exactly who he is or what he did, but it is very obvious that he hates his life, and feel the world has been cruel to him, as we first see him in a motor boat, trying to get far away as possible from the rest of the world as possible, and is angrily muttering to himself. We don't know how long he's been boating, but he soon realizes he has made a key oversight, that motorboats eventually run out of gas. However, out at sea, he suddenly finds a Giant, fat, blobby Manatee. Still angry at the world, he grudgingly decides to ride the Manatee, trying to get even farther away, but is extremely mean to it, and yells at it and argues, not caring that he is talking to an animal that can't respond. With the Manatee, he angrily goes around the sea, and discovers many threats, from sadistic alligators, pretentious orca whales, and a large group of penguins in antarctica, which seem to act bizarrely like a primitive jungle tribe with spears, etc. (This idea has been changed significantly, likely no penguins, maybe polar bears, but I still find it necessary they go to Antarctica to keep diversity in locations.) Through these adventures, Farley begins to realize how much he and others rely on each other, including animals.

What makes this idea especially original, is that Farley is the only character that talks. He makes conversation with the animals, who only reply in cartoonishly expressive animal noises, or express themself through animated body language. Farley tries to argue, but is really only talking to himself, and trying to come to terms with his anger at the rest of the world. The Manatee's expression for the most time is very lazy and deadpan, annoyed by farley's constant chatter, and can say a great deal just by rolling his eyes. I'm not sure if everyone would like the idea of having only one voice actor, but it's okay. An example is how this could be humorous, is when they are kidnapped by the penguins (/polar bars).

Penguin/ bear leader: Making an emphatic speech, but is only heard thru bird noises.
Farley: What is he saying?
Manatee: (incomprehensible whale grunting)
Farley (angrily): AAAAAAH, I seeee...

No.11063
Farley has a name, but the manatee is just manatee. Names are a decidedly human thing, also helping the obvious differences between uptight thin Farley, and the Lazy mellow, fat blobby manatee. Farley probably feels that his name immediately defines who he is as a person, as a name is how we put together ideas into a specific person. The manatee is just a manatee, and lives simply the way he wishes, avoiding self-doubt and self-hate, not worrying if his/her actions are true to what others think of him/her.

No.11064
Farley also tries to constantly flaunt his "superiority" over the manatee, and is very obviously self centred.

Farley: Pay attention to what I'm saying! It's important! This silent treatment is absolutely moronic, and you should feel immature for it! Do you know who I am? I AM MAN! The superior species! I Hold up this earth! And I have to pay tax dollars to keep species like YOU from dying on us! With My Money! That I Earned! You've been sustaining yourself on food from MY Knapsack for the last week, too! Trust me, You would be absolutely nowhere without...
(manatee suddenly submerges, leaving Farley BlubBlubbing in the water for a good three seconds. The manatee then remerges, leaving Farley wet and shivering.)
Farley: P-point taken...

No.11065
Moving on to the pretentious orcas.

Obviously, they don't talk, but they keep trying to one up manatee, and seem to be bragging about their sleek, almost apple-computers esque design.

eventually, Farley gets sick of it, and yells at them.

Farley: all right, that's it! I'm sick of you pushing us around! so Y'know... Nuts to you!
(Takes out finger and starts poking at the large white spot on top of the orca's head, becomes confused, and keeps poking)
Farley: Oh wait, I always forget this, It's not the white thing that's the eye, It's the little black shiny bit!
(Finally pokes orca in the eye, Orca rolls over in irritation.)

No.11066
The fact that the silent characters can shut him up with the simplest of actions, ie "point taken" avoids Farley from being completely annoying, whining on and on. Also, the reason he's the only one who talks is the fact that when he talks to the manatee, he is also really talking to himself, and slowly seeing his errors by letting them fold in front of them.

The first concept sketches, note farley's long nose, graying hair, long bony fingers, and highly protruding knees and shoulders. Also, at least in my mind, he's wearing a back pack.

No.11068
I'd rather the movie just started with him in the boat, not showing his life on land, because we know he hates his life, but it isn't fully explained why, allowing the viewer to fill in the blanks with personal experience.

The one thing I do plan to show as an artifact of his life on shore, Is Farley acting out his breakup with a girlfriend many years ago. With his hand as a puppet to represent his ex. Eventually, he gets so pissed off, he start punching his own hand.

Farley: Think you can push me around, you idiot, you moron, you empty-headed self centred... OK, I think I've broken my hand. Ow

No.11069
Though the manatee is pretty much genderless as far as the script goes, I found it would be funny if Farley decides to consider the manatee female.

Farley: Alright, you know what, i'm going to decide that you're a woman. And it's not because I've become so isolated i need to put a female face on something. Well, I AM isolated enough to need to put a female face on something, But that's not why I'm putting one on you! I'm doing because i find the idea that there's a woman underneath all those barnacles and hideous flab... Absolutely Hilarious.

Here comes the clincher:
after a large climactic fight with a shark, Farley and the manatee manage to get away. However, Farley starts to notice the water around them getting mysteriously red. Scared that the shark may have hurt the manatee, he brings it ashore to a small island and tries to heal it. However, He quickly realizes that these are not shark wounds. the battle has merely opened up previous wounds that the manatee has had without him noticing. Farley comes to a scared revelation.
These are wounds from a motorboat propellor. All this time, with Farley complaining about how the world has been unjust to him, this Manatee, who Farley injured with his own boat, for that matter, has been willing to suffer in silence in order to allow Farley to come to terms, to try and realize the wonders that can exist in life.

Also, some artifacts that Farley brings along in his backpack: A picture of him someplace, to give mild exposition, an old radio that only plays music, and a copy of Alice Through the looking glass (for a specific quotation later in the story, I'll explain later.)

I actually really like this. It seems a bit.... heavy, I guess, for a Pixar movie? More adult oriented it feels like. But I do like it.

No.11089
Awesome, I'm jumping on this. Might do some drawfaggory later on.

Alright, now it seems 4chan hates it. But you still love me, don't you plus4? ;_;

BUT I GO ON 4CHAN AND I LIKE IT. :D

Plus, didn't that thread earlier today totally love your idea? I think nighttime /co/ is just grumpy today or something... (unless it's daytime where you are. Then daytime /co/ is grumpy.)

Classes just started back up in America I think? So it'll be better now.

/co/ hates original ideas that anonymous can't claim anyways.

No.11108
Alright, i've organized things in the story just a bit. In antarctica Farley sees a mother polar bear and its two cubs, making a sort of resonation of how he hates his mother, ex, or whatever, and has a profound moment seeing the mother trying to take care of them.

The penguin tribe has been replaced with regular monkeys, still act like a wild jungle tribe, but I thought it would be funny for the adults watching to make them more like the tribe from apocalypse now, with some minor references here and there, ie "this is the end... dundundun, my only friend..." playing at some interval. It may be a touch cheesy, but give me your opinions.

I just wanted to post on here too.

okay, so im a bit confused on the hair, i see alot of different things going on.
How do you want it? wavy, curly, long, straight etc.
and the clothing?
anything specific you want him to wear, other than the backpack?

well, it's really sort of messy hair, but there is a bit of flip/cowlick, whatever it's called, at the front. I think we agreed last thread that he wears cargo/khaki short, and maybe a sports jersey with the number 08 on it. He wears traditional sneakers, but his feet are underwater most of the time, so it doesn't matter completely.

Hey, Kasm, I have a question.

What are you planning to do with this when you're done with it?

I know that you think it would make a good Disney/Pixar movie, so are you going to send it in to them, or something?

No.11153
>>11147

I may send it for opinion, I don't REALLY expect a full movie to be made, but I've wanted to write comics for a long time, so as my skill improves, I'll likely try my hand at making a graphic novel/ short series, Something with visual immediacy like Blankets, perhaps.

whoops, sent that on a different computer. I said that just so you know.

check your data man, polar bears don't live in the antarctic. only in the arctic.
I'm also questioning on why the manatee doesn't just dive down to get rid of the little emo sitting on it.
