You see? Even in parody this teaches kids more about the sport in one episode than most of these other series could not cover in their entirety. Giving them some context will help hook them in more than just flash in the pan marketing of cheap toy lines that have sales for about a week or so.

It's obviously not impossible to create a compelling cartoon about a sport. Japan does it all the time. The problem with these is that they aren't being created as their own work; they're cynical tie-ins to existing product.
