That's really all a matter of personal taste now isn't it?

I don't see how any of those things make it bad art.

>>74930
Because he's so lazy, just using the same character models and faces over and over again.

>>74934
Why? The guy's a great cartoonist, he just happens to be batshit with most of his opinions.

>You may as well lambaste an Osamu Tezuka work for being "genericly anime".

Sorry, what? Tezuka's art was a lot better than this. It may be more basic compared to other anime, but it's still leagues beyond this geometric nightmare. Just look at that fat guy's head.

Guys maybe we should just stop now. It's pretty clear that the poster is a more blatant troll than Señor.

It's pointless to hate him just because he's right.

Just because he says something that offends you doesn't mean you should jump on the hate bandwagon.

I don't know, the titan's movements weren't that bad. Not really sure what to feel looking at the scenes when they show the kids in control though.

A giant robot fighting a hydra monster really should inspire more feeling than "not that bad." It was... sluggish. Weak. Slow. Boring.

It's cute how they make it seem like this show has a plot, when it'll be just be episodic fluff like Samurai Jack for 60 episodes and then be cancelled.

You mean Samurai Jack never got a proper ending?

How much plot does it need? Aliens come to earth and cause giant robot based mass destruction. That's almost every mecha anime in existence.

It's supposedly getting a movie to tie it all up but the original cartoon ran out of steam and ratings around 2004.

Except those have actual plot and story progression. And actually end with a proper ending

No.86133
>>86131
It'd help if you actually proved that or gave examples of them having a plot outside of "WILL THE TEAM/PROTAGONIST MAKE IT THIS EPISODE?" but either every one of the classic giant robot series give about as much reason as to why earth is attacked and the antagonists are evil as other Science Fiction giants like Star Wars did for the Sith or the Trade Federation, IE none what-so-ever.

Oh you're funny. You mean the one where Zeon was bad and winning the war just cause the creator wanted Space Nazis? I mean I can just ignore that other one because it was hot-blooded retard fun and didn't pretend to be anything else but Gundam? Now I know you're an empty troll.

Gundam sure as hell didn't. Gurren might have had it between tit shots and action scenes but I don't remember seeing much other then Gainax tropes.

No.86152

You're going off point. You were saying that Gundam didn't have plot beyond whether or not the protagonist will survive, not that the plot wasn't good. Now you're moving the goal posts.

It's pretty much undeniable that most Gundam series have a lot of plot and politics and character drama going on beyond "Will he win this fight?" Whether or not you find any of it believable or compelling comes down to taste, but it has plot. Even if the plot is boring or predictable.

No.86153
>>86151
Yes. But I guess when this didn't act all high and mighty and try to show Mecha as something with a DEEP plot instead of something endearingly enjoyable outside of the outer layer of stupidity one dude just had to express his displeasure on +4. Or maybe he just hated everything Gendy and it didn't really matter what this was.

No.86154
>>86153
Or maybe some people are just tired of shows acting like they have a story then go episodic for the whole series and cancel.

I have a sneaking suspicion this wont be as good as Avatar

No.86159
>>86152
Not really, the best thing for the Gundam series was to dump all the convoluted tripe that was the universal century and this is best expressed in G Gundum. It's initial "plot" is very stupid as only the thickest of neck beards would defend the idea that all countries would form neo satellite city colonies in space for the rich, including a strangely Communist Russia and Imperial China, and turn the earth into an arena. Not to mention how obvious it was that Neo Tokyo was going to win what with receiving and making both Dark and GOD Gundams, but unlike most of the incarnations before it that tried to pass off shameless drama as a story it stuck with it and called out its own shit in the best character of the series, Master Asia. He knew as anyone else would watching that what was going on should be obviously wrong and though he used an equally dumb method to try to stop this he was right. Not to mention they were clever in shaping it into a national competition as I couldn't help but root for characters like Chibodee Crocket. It rolled with its flaws and this made it the best liked in my opinion.

I said most Mecha series were stupid in my first post and the other troll only included Gundam as a whole which I still say is dumb in its entirety. Most of its detail and history was added on after the first series, which in my mind is the worst offender as Amuro’s only purpose was to overreact and be the mouthpiece for the diatribe of Peace the creator was aiming for, but still most of the reasons and detail of the story came in other OVAs and series after it. These however only made a bigger mess of the UC timeline as they tried to give reasons for Zeon to happen, be a conceivable threat in such a quick time and suddenly make Earth evil with the Titans because what is classic Gundam without a mustache twirling war mongering nation. And even then NEO ZEON JUST KEPT POPPING UP because little did anyone know a secret fleet or lost son popped up here and there and manipulated events to where war was happening yet again.

No.86182
>>86159
The Titans were in Zeta Gundam first not in a side story OVA. They also showed Earth as some what corrupt in 0079. You really never watch a lot of any Gundam show have you?
