Really satisfying way to cap off the series. Everyone got a moment to shine, writing was top-notch the whole way through. The short shown before the flick was probably the most creative of Pixar's shorts.

Also, did anyone else notice this little girl from Up in the daycare? Was that an intentional cameo, or just a coincidentally similar design?

Well, considering everything that happened between her and her previous owner before Andy, it only makes sense. Lolno, Boo's Jessie doll was another Jessie. Sid showed up in the Monsters Inc comic miniseries and tried stealing it and other toys to spare kids from what happened to him, using the door system to get around.

lets just bump that post off the front page.

I for one have never much cared for Toy Story as (gasp) it wasn't really part of my childhood, but I kind of want to see it now with all the good stuff I keep hearing.

Wonder if Toys still exist in the future of Wall-E Woody and Buzz being all Mad Max traveling through the wasteland..if they could last that long.

No.64108
>>64104
Well, if you're cared for well enough, I suppose it's possible. Woody's been around for decades.

4chan /co/ was discussing why Woody never mentioned kids before Andy. I wondered about that too, especially since Andy's mom states in TS2 that he's a special family toy, something to that extent anyway.

But its clear Woody has a shit-ton experience. His attempts to make sure everybody was OK up in the attic... ;_;

No.64112
>>64108

He knows what can happen...out there. No clue. He did mention that he had not seen a record player in ages back in 2. Maybe its the Artoo excuse (Nobody has ever asked him about the before times) Or maybe its a Dr.Who sorta thing where he does have the experiences of the past but each child is a new regeneration.

No.64153
I can't believe the amount of bitching at IMDb about giving the toys to Bonnie. It's exactly the sort of "MINE! MINE! MIIIIIIIINE!!" mentality that Pixar would abhor. (But that IMDb for you. It's regular4chan for movies.)

I like to think children's attention is like a battery charge to the toy; it gives the toy its life and without it the life fades out but can be restored. (Otherwise, I think Jessie's lengthy motionless stay under the bed in TS2 would've driven her batshit insane.)

>>63966
I thought this might be the case, too. I tried to imagine Toy Afterlife, in which Woody and Bo are reunited, only to vomit until I fell over and smashed my skull on the mantelpiece.

Dear God, I'm trying to compose a theology based on this movie. I must've hurt myself worse than I thought.

No.64167
>>64153
Seriously? I get the complaints about Bo being missing. Pixar could have easily shown a quick shot of her at Bonnie's. Personally I think it makes the rest of the toys' struggles all the more real, so I'm cool with it.

But to argue that the toys should have stayed in the attic on the off chance that Andy has kids who'd want to play with them is pretty silly.

Loose connection of references. It's like people who try to seriously timeline out the Zelda games, or worse, Final Fantasy. It doesn't work because the creator(s) didn't write it with an extended and connected universe in mind.

No.64493

No, come on. I've seen five different Zelda "timeline theories" none of which can satisfactorily reconcile everything in each game to be contained in one universe. It would be better if people gave up and just enjoyed the games as is without fitting them into a silly time line.

Miyamoto/Nintendo is constantly retconning shit because fans want to believe there is an overall plan. There isn't. They're just games that feature Link, Zelda and Ganon(dorf) almost always.

Back on topic... Have a horrible copy pasta. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED.

One day while Andy was masturbating, Woody got wood. He could no longer help himself! He watched as Andy stroked his juicy kawaii cock. He approached Andy which startled him and made him pee everywhere on the floor and all over Woody too. Being drenched in his urine made him harder than ever!

Woody : " Andy Senpai! I'm alive and I want to be INSIDE OF YOU. "

Andy: " Oh Woody Chan! I always knew you were alive! I want to stuff you up in my kawaii ass!"

Woody grabbed a bunch of flavored lube and rubbed it all over his head.

Woody: " Oh my! It's cherry flavored lube! Cherry is my favorite!"

Woody then stuffed his head up into Andy's tight ass! The other toys around the room watched intently as Woody shoved his head back and forth into Andy's nice ass, continuously making a squishy wet noise. The other toys also became aroused and they all gathered around Woody and Andy and started to urinate all over them, and then they started to masturbate.
Andy: " Oh my goodness, Woody Chan! You are churning my insides up so well! Your nose is stimulating my prostate! OH YES!

All of the other toys became so aroused by this, that they could not help themselves anymore! They pushed Woody completely inside , and they all went inside. All of them wanted to be inside Andy's nice round ass.

Andy: " No wait! guys! My ass cannot hold this much! im getting so full!"

All the toys went inside of poor squirming Andy and pretty much, he was beyond full, and died from having his insides completely damaged. The mother came inside and found Andy, dead with a huge ass hemorrhage on his anus, with a HUGE belly full of toys.

Since Pixar already had the balls to essentially kill off (remove from Andy's toy family) Wheezy, RC and Bo, I assumed that the truck ran over the three aliens, killing them as they walked to the claw. I was honestly convinced and horrified that the Potatos' kids were dead.

So I never even thought of somebody coming to the rescue for the gang in the incinerator.

One day, Bonnie runs into her room, having returned from a shopping trip with her mother; her lamp broke and she needed a new one. She excitedly unpacks it and sets it up on her side table before heading to the kitchen for a snack.

The toys curiously venture to the table to see what Bonnie has brought home. And there on the table is a familiar figurine in a pink bonnet, accompanied by a trio of sheep...

Overcome with joy, Woody rushes to her. He embraces her tightly, telling her he missed her, he's so happy to see her, he never wants to lose her again.

But she pushes him away and says one simple heartbreaking phrase..."I'm sorry, do I know you?"

She is Bo Peep.

Molly peeked her head into her brother's room. "Andy? You in here?" She said, looking around. Her mouth curved into a devious smile as she tip-toed to the garbage bag full of old toys. "Alright, there's gotta be something in here..." she said to herself, digging through the toys until one caught her eye. It was a cute cowgirl doll, with red yarn hair and a big, happy smile. Molly held it up and admired the delicate fabrics of its clothing, the soft but cold plastic of her small hands... she grinned and walked out of Andy's room, holding the cowgirl doll behind her back. "Just because Andy's done with you doesn't mean I am..." she whispered, "Come on... let's go 'play' for awhile..."

Woody's life seemed to be falling before his eyes. He continued his life as a toy and welcomed the hours he and Bonnie would play but he could not put out the thought of Bo Peep from his mind. He played day after day but nothing could take his mind off of her. Eventually Bonnie too grew too old for her toys and gave them to her cousin who lived far in another state. Woody and the others had great fun with the same old gang and with new toys. But sometimes at night he would hear Buzz and Jess play "romance" and he would weep. Weep for his beloved Bo Peep. The day came that they were to be put "in the attic" a fate that Woody disliked but it was better than being thrown away. He was the first to emerge from the box and explore his new surroundings. He looked high and low to become familiar with his new home. When he heard a small voice behind him. "Woody...?" it weakly called out to him. He turned and it spoke to him again. "I've lost my sheep. Can you help me?" she said as she stepped out of the shadows. It was Bo! but there was something different. Her head, actually most of her body was covered in black paint. "Woody, I cant see. The paint, Woody, there was so much paint. That is you right Woody? You'd never leave me, right Woody?".

But then something unexpected happened. The garbageman who had picked him up and strapped him to the grill of his truck received a visitor at the dump. His wife had come to bring him something, and seeing his truck, she laughed a little at her husband's strange hobby.

But... that laugh... could it be?

Lotso continued remaining still. He couldn't risk being seen moving. What had the garbageman called his wife? No, it couldn't be. But... she was coming this way. She was looking right at him. She explained that she had a Lotso bear once... two, actually, because she lost one and her parents bought her another. She wonders whatever happened to the first one... her husband muses that maybe this is the one. He unstraps Lotso from the grill, and hands him over. Humoring him, the wife inspects the bear... and to her surprise, she finds her name written on his tag.

Feeling sorry for the poor abandoned bear, she decides to take him home, clean him up, and keep him in her office. Every so often, when nobody else is home, she plays with Lotso a little. She feels silly doing this, but she realizes she has a bond of sorts with the old, abused bear. Sometimes, her husband catches her, and just laughs.

"Oh Daisy, you really love that old piece of junk, don't you?"

You know what's funny?
Andy was the voice of Pepper from Lego Island.
Now that he's all grown up, and now that Toy Story is over, maybe it really is the end of your childhood.

This movie was great. A return to Nightmare Fuel and Bambi's Mom, the kind of movie kids'll be writing about in Nostalgia threads ten years from now along with frequent use of the words THAT FUCKING SCENE. And they could be talking about any scene in the movie, from the opening that called back memories of the first film, to stealing Andy's cellphone just to get him to look in the toy box, Hell I'd just end up listing every scene in the film.

Toy Story 3 and Princess and the Frog give me hope for the future of animation.

No.65813
So wait, wait...toys have souls, and they're more or less immortal, and they live lives of hardship and heartbreak...Are they the bottom rung of the reincarnation ladder? Would it not therefore have been better for them to have been melted, and thus not have to live for decades, if not centuries, of neglect, abuse, lonliness, and sorrow?

So yeah, that rumour about that little girl being Boo? I thinks it true, based on the fact that she actually does go 'Boo!' while playing with the toys.

"Happy birthday, Bonnie. I've been waiting until I thought you were old enough for this."

"Woooow! Mom, it's so pretty! Thank you! Oh, neat, you can take this off...!"

"You're welcome, Honey. Oh...! Now, be careful with that. We don't want it breaking, do we? Let's just set it here for now. Now, let's go downstairs. It's almost time for your friends to start showing up!"

As Bonnie and her mother leave the room, the toys begin to excitedly chatter about what gifts she might get.

"I wonder if she'll get any of those new fashion dolls? One of the cute ones!"

"Ooh, maybe she'll get some nice new critters!"

"Let's hope she gets something non-threatening, like a sweater."

Climbing on to the bed Woody chuckles to himself; it was like old times again. As he leaned back into the pillow, tipping his hat forward, he looked back on fond memories, the army men marching (could you call that marching?) downstairs, the toys in Andy's room nervous and excited all at the same time. Everyone together...Him, Buzz, Wheezy, Slink, Etch, Lenny, Potatohead, Hamm and...and...

"Woody?"

He jumps, startled, and looks in the direction of the voice. There, on the side table, stands a familiar figurine. Her painted blue eyes look back at him, full of love, her rosy cheeks and pink lips as beautiful as he remembered. There is a tightness in his chest as his lips seem to form a smile all on their own.

Is it real?

It's too good to be real.

It's too good not to be real.

He hasn't felt like this in a long time.

And it's wonderful.

(Prequel-y thing for when Woody was new and owned by Andy's dad.)

"It's time for dinner!"
"Sure, Mom!"

The boy, eager for the meal, scrambles out of the room and into the kitchen and lets his new cowboy doll fall to the ground in a heap.

He gets to his feet and replaces his hat on his head.

"That...went a lot better than expected," he says to himself, surveying his fellow toys scattered across the floor. The porcelain figure he'd been rescuing, a little ball, some cardboard boxes that'd served as buildings, and the action figure who'd been his comrade in the day's play--

--wait. Wait. Woody furrows his eyebrow and raises a little plastic hand to point at the now empty bit of floor: "Where's Combat Ca--"

Something solid collides with the back of his head; he's out cold before he hits the floor again.

---

"Ugh, my head--OW!"

He's been slapped in the face with a plastic hand. A very forceful plastic hand.

"What was that for?!" Woody yells.

"Quiet, soldier!"

It is then that Woody becomes aware of his surroundings. He's tied to a rollerskate with a shoelace. A Raggedy Andy doll is on a table above him, holding a squirt gun--a single drop lands square between his eyes, and he has a nasty feeling that it's not going to end there.

A desk lamp's pointed in his face; he squints through the light.

The Combat Carl looks down at him, contempt in his face. "I've got some questions for you, soldier, and until they're answered, you are not leaving. Is that clear?"

...Well, damn. And his hat's gone, too.

This is going to be a long night.

Goddamn it internets, you never cease to surprise me. I actually almost thought for a second that no one else was reminded of the moment in T2. But for it to even be posted, with all the similarities between the two scenes..just...wow...Thx man. Those were moments that really made me baw like no other in cinema. Though I was around 8 or 9 when I first saw Terminator, that one moment really meant alot to me. Even with all the amazing cgi now shit is just so classic and well done.

I'd be willing to say that 3 and 1 rank up pretty high for me.

the second felt like a small detour for a single character to be introduced, almost like a side trip. I still find the whole "welcome back, Andy" and new toys without any explanation retarded.

3 just pressed my shipping buttons the right way and was just great.

Woody walks in a line with a bunch of anonymous toys chained up with yarn, the Phone is sitting next to a bench reciting Red's line. Lotso is the warden. The Sisters are Ken, Rocky, and the Robot. The guy Woody helps in the library is Stinky Pete. He asks Phone for a wall poster of Bo Peep, which comes as a postage stamp. Big Baby is the head guardsman whose name I can't remember.

I keep having this idea where Sid and a couple other people (read: shitty OC's) with similar experiences own this huge house that they remodel so that most of the rooms are filled with layers and layers of tiny stairs and furniture and shelves that touch all four walls, and then the three of them work in the dump and rescue toys and take them back to their place. Then they patch them up and the toys just sort of live in and have the run of the house, like a giant toy hotel/hospital. They also fix damaged toys brought to them by kids in their neighborhood and on their garbage truck routes. Eventually you figure this would make it obvious to the toys that these guys KNOW they're sapient and some of them get the courage to talk to them. This of course would cause a chain reaction that eventually gets Sid and Bros a few hundred tiny plastic housemates.

Then one day several years later while working the early shift in the incinerator control room, Sid notices something down there that is definitely not more piles of tiny shards of whatever.

He stops the incinerator (and turns on some convenient cooling system) at the risk of losing his job, opens one of the emergency doors, and tramples his way over to the toys with a metal bucket that he drops everyone (except Rex because he's too buried to see) into with Jesse happening to land on top. He glares at her and says "is that everyone?" No response of course, so more sternly "hey cowgirl I don't exactly have TIME to screw around in here, is this everyone?" She blinks a couple times and sits up, looking right at him. Sid's expression just gets more irritated. "Well?"

"I-I, I, uh"

"Spit it out, Red"

"A-a dinosaur. A T-Rex. Bright green"

Sid shuffles around in the scraps. "Green. Green green greeeeen... got 'im" He drops Rex in the bucket and hauls ass out of the incinerator.

A few hours later he gets back to the house and some of the toys that are already there make the necessary explanations while Sid is out of sight, and he returns to find not only a Buzz Lightyear but THAT FUCKING COWBOY. Memories relapse and shenanigans ensue :D

When do toys gain sentience? When the package is first opened? (IIRC TS2 correctly, no, they're sentient in their package.) When their body is fully completed?

What if their birth is spending dayshours on an assembly line as soon as their head is fashioned, watching all the robots/people put the rest of them together? What if they are one of the last heads made that day, and the factory shuts down for the night while the head is still on the line, so they spend 12 hours as just a head hanging on something in a cold and lonely warehouse?

No.79290
>>79286
Their conception likely beings with the idea that they are to become or represent but that doesn't mean they are born intelligent. Plastic, cloth or the other materials they are comprised of doesn't house sentience just as the carbons that we are made of don't specifically guarantee thinking. Consciousness no matter how basic or simple needs some time to gestate which I'm guessing at some point is triggered by imagination. Buzz's original existence kicked in when he was acting his role as a space ranger which was after his box was opened and he was long ago purchased and showed to Andy so in that interval of time either he was around media that said what he was or any number of children or people he came into contact with thought at least something about the toy. I'm not sure when or where they all awaken to what they're supposed to be as there are a long line of people in transportation, inspection, administration or computer maintenance that still maintain modern toy development before its journey stops at a store. So any janitor or clerk could have thought about playing or purchasing the toy and awakened the lot of them from initial imagination leading to some sitting trapped in processing plants, packaging or worse in the incinerator due to malformation or hardware error.

I saw it shortly after it came out. I rarely cry at movies (or at anything else) but at the end of Toy Story 3...I still didn't cry. I did get a lump in my throat when Bonnie waved Woody's arm like he was waving goodbye to Andy, and let me tell you, it's no small feat to get me that emotional.

I had more of a reaction while watching Up, to be honest. I got the same lump from the first scene, and I was on the verge of tears in that other scene, even on my third re-watch. You know the one. I needn't specify.

Cried bitch tears.

And I'm not ashamed of it either.
