Similar is this Chinese dish in which a fish is deep-fried and served while still alive.

That fish is in pain. D:
And that's coming from an unrepentant meat-eater.

Okay. So my personal preference as an ethicist and a human being who sympathizes with animals is that YOU MAKE SURE THE ANIMAL IS VERY DEAD AND NOT IN EXCRUCIATING PAIN FUCK.

But, on the scale of unethical things that occur all the time, this is more gruesome than criminal.

I still think that people who eat meat should be willing to kill the animals they eat if they wish to eat them. This, however, is a bit much.

I heartily agree with you both. I love meat, but this is just creepy, creepy, creepy.

I remember reading an "argument from both sides" thing once about this.

Those "against" said it was brutal and inhumane.
Those "for" said it tasted really good.

Well, I do enjoy really tasty things, but not at the cost of undue suffering. Plus, I've had fresh sushi before, and I really doubt that cutting it from a still-living fish really makes it that much better. The only thing I can think is that there's a savage, visceral glee in eating something while you watch it twitch. And that just opens up a whole slew of dark avenues into the soul I'd rather not ponder.

Oh man, those look delicious.

This is pretty fucked up, though.

I can't even eat things with heads still on let alone something that's ALIVE. D:

Well, I never thought Jackson music would make something LESS creepy.

I would eat the fish. Not the Frogs legs though. Because frogs seem unappetizing.

Abalone being cooked alive.

I have eaten some weird shit in my time, but this is just going too far.

Though I just don't like the texture of mollusks and generally don't eat them.

French people need to go back to Indonesia... or wherever the hell they come from.

The French used to be freaking badass. Their country was even named after the weapon favored by their Frankish founders; the Francisca throwing-axe.

That is not how you pronounce Indonesia.

Oh shit, I just watched that last one about the fish in China. Every time they poke it it's like it's saying "KILL... ME"

I love eating meat, but MY GOD. Why would anyone do that? That poor fish is in so much pain!
