So I'm in class when I hear that there was a massive explosion a couple of miles south of where I live.
1. Oh god. People are hurt. Fuck.
2. People I know may have been hurt. Double fuck.
3. The entire area pretty much has been leveled. Triple fuck.
4. There was a fire station just up the hill from that area. Wonder what happened to it.
5. My route home is full of traffic and blockage. Fuck has been averted, thanks to brother texting me the news and me taking a detour.

On a much, much lighter note, a girl I know wants me to dress up as a Rare Hunter from Yu-Gi-Oh so she can boss me around and bop me with a makeshift Millennium Rod. I don't even know anymore.

If so, it's really horrible to see what's happening out there. [I was coming home on 680 and saw a massive cloud of smoke on the other side of the bay about 30 minutes after it happened.]

As it stands, there have been a 3 casualties, and several suburban blocks, or 53 homes have been leveled, 120 more damaged. Smoke's been billowing east over SFO. Few hundred people displaced - some sent to hospitals around the area for burn treatment. Turned out to be a gas line explosion. The line has been shut.

Smoke is visible from several areas around San Bruno, Millbrae, and South San Francisco. Watching coverage at the moment.

Looks like they established some order, though many people seem to have just lost everything. Pictures show nothing but burning building frames in certain areas. Other buildings are still on fire. Power is out in the area - floodlights have been set up to provide some light.

The frightening part to me is two-fold: one, that it's so close to home, and two, that I knew what that place looked like - I passed by there frequently on my way to either Tanforan or the psychiatrist.

Anyway, it's funny but there is geniune big dog fear. I used to be TERRIFIED of big dogs. Especially jumpy ones eager ones. Now I'm just vaguely nervous around them.

It's funny when people are scared of my 11lb dog though. A big Shepard mix, yeah, but a tiny little Boston? Granted, there's a good chunk of Muslims in the area and they can't touch dogs so that reaction makes sense, but there's enough clearly non-Muslim people who get freaked out by her.
