Before the 3rd season started. I had the idea in my head that the final battle was going to come down to Aang vs a Zuko who would have spent all of the 3rd season seizing power from his family, which would have included killing Iroh. This would have culminated in Zuko sacrificing himself to save Aang, and maybe the world being welcomed by Iroh to whatever fate awaited him on the other side.

But obviously, things didn't pan out that way. What were your predictions.

I though Azula would be the final enemy, betraying her pops to seize power for herself being the power hungry psychotic cunt that she was. Turns out she was a loyal psychotic cunt. Who knew?

I was expecting Aang to man up and kill Ozai instead of pulling off that retarded Deus Ex Machina.

Yeah so many people seemed to be expecting Aang to be completely OOC and kill Ozai. I didn't though, because i watched the show and payed attention to his character. Go figure

I'm sure you didn't see the spiritbending crap coming either.

So what did you think he was gonna do to Ozai?

No.84584

I figured he was gonna take his bending away somehow. I certainly didn't see spiritbending coming, but it really was an obvious outcome.

I thought there was gonna be some super-hax bending done to sent the comet off course. Either by Aang alone, or all the benders of the world uniting their power.

No.84595
I thought either Azula or Ozai would get one of those Disney Villain Deaths where they die due to their own fuckup.

When Iroh first taught Zuko lightning redirection and brought up that part about going through the stomach and not the heart, I figured one of the two would try mimicking it and end up frying their heart. Indisputably dead, but with no exterior damage, so Nick might've gotten away with it the way they got away with drowning Zhao.

No.84598
I figured Aang would use "Kuzon" for his alias in the Fire Nation, sport a hat to hide his arrow, and Zuko would totally know it was him and publicly out him in some kind of tournament (possibly one where Aang was trying to find a Firebending teacher).

I'm sorry, you lost me at "killing Iroh". I don't see how anyone ever could've thought that.

>>84588
I sort of thought this myself. The comet empowered Firebenders, but comets are made of rock and ice and assorted debris. Therefore I thought Aang would be able to bend the comet safely away.

No.84612
>>84611
I never said he'd do it intentionally.

No.84630
I thought Toph was gonna bend the comet away from the earth to weaken the Firebenders, since we saw her earlier bending space rock.

>>Therefore I thought Aang would be able to bend the comet safely away.

I believe a fully realized Avatar may be able to do it, being the spirit of the planet and all that, but Aang wasn't experienced enough to even think of it.

No.84638
I thought Ozai would've fallen off a cliff or something. Of course I'm a lot more satisfied with the real ending.

This, I thought he would have died from a super epic Lightning Redirection. Like, Ozai was about to kill someone dear (I had thought Katara was gonna be near Aang fighting firenation badies), so he had to do it and jumped in there. Being a noob at redirection, I just expected he'd accidentally send it back at Ozai, and that'd be the end of it.

Then again, dying because of fireworks like in Mulan after Momo lights them would've been epic!

No.84761
I thought Katara and Sokka's mom was going to end up being alive. I even thought she was going to be the painted lady when I heard about the episode. I also tried to figure a way their mom and Zuko's mom could be the same woman, but there was NO WAY to make that work.

No.84792
I thought Iroh was going to have to be killed by Azula or Ozai, which would be what ultimately triggered Zuko to realize the error of his ways and fight for the Good Guys.

I also figured Iroh would be Aang's firebending teacher, despite the fact that his other teachers were also roughly his age.

You know it would not have been long before Azula started gunning for the title of Phoenix queen had fates seen that destiny through.

No.84979
>>84976
No she would'nt. Azula qas a total daddy's girl. Ozai's acceptance was the driving force behind most of her actions. That's the reason his rejection (pretty much tossing her aside because he didn't need her anymore) is what really pushed her over the edge. Anyone that thinks she would ever betray him doesn't understand her character.

Anyone that actually

No.84980
>>84979

Who knows? Ozai was the ambitious second child. Azula is also an ambitious second child. He knows damn well what she could do. Break her now or have her break him.

No.84982
>>84980
Ambition doesn't necessarily equal seeking to replace one's father. Ozai was not the favored son of Azulon, but Azula was the favored child of Ozai. There's a significant difference there and to just say "ambitious" oversimplifies the matter.

No.84992
>>84982
Needless to say, Azula's usefulness was over to Ozai after becoming Phoenix King. He obviously saw both children as tools.

No.84999
I think people forget one very important thing about Azula. She shares the same heredity as Zuko.

No shit Sherlock!

Wait, just let me finish. What I'm getting at is this.

Here, from the Avatar and the Fire Lord

Zuko: "You sent this, didn't you‌ I found the secret history. Which, by the way should be renamed "the history most people already know." The note said that I needed to know about my great-grandfather's death, but he was still alive in the end."

Iroh: "No…he wasn't."

Zuko: "What are you talking about‌."

Iroh: "You have more than one great-grandfather, Prince Zuko. Sozin was your father's grandfather. Your mother's grandfather was Avatar Roku."

Zuko: "Why are you telling me this"

Iroh: Because understanding the struggle between your two great-grandfathers, can help you better understand the battle within yourself. Evil and good are always at war inside you, Zuko. It is your nature, your legacy. But there is a bright side. What happened generations ago can be resolved now…by you. Because of your legacy, you alone can cleanse the sins of our family and the fire nation. Born in you, along with all this strife, is the power to restore balance to the world.

If Zuko has that struggle within him because of who his ancestors are, then so should Azula. Her being favored by Ozai sure didn't help, and that she never really had to struggle with anything. Either while growing up or anything like what Zuko went through. She was sheltered and raised by a sociopath. Because of all that, she never really had to deal with any sort of inner conflict.

That is, until her friends turned on her, then her father abandoned her. i think a big part of her breakdown was because, for the first time in her life, she had reason to start doubting herself and her choices. Unfortunately, whereas Zuko had years to work through his inner conflicts and finally figure out who he was. Azula had that thrust onto her in the course of a day.

Which was apparently not quiet enough time.

No.85098
>>84979
I agree as far as it went. However I suspect it would only a matter of time before she realized how much her father thought of her... and once she did there would be only two probable reactions; crack up or remove him (and make no mistake, she is quite capable of the latter).

No.85099
>>85098
Daddy would spank her

No.85101
>>85099
If she went toe to toe anytime in the next decade or so, yup.

However she seems to do sneaky at least as well as he does and unlike him likes it.

No.85107
I also have a pet theory that Ozai realized that, because of her natural talent, she would potentially surpass him one day, and pretty much manipulated her emotionally. Purposefully creating an emotional rift between her and Ursa while reinforcing her dependence on him just to make sure she wouldn't turn against and try to overthrow him.

It also makes that much more ironic that the kid considered too weak to worry about was the on that ended up doing just that.

This is now canon to me.

Not to whore out my fic or anything (by which I mean to totally whore out my fictional or everything), I actually have a chapter that kind of deals with that scenario.

I'm on my phone, but I can post a link to the chapter when I get home if you want.

(I can at least promise that it's better than HIBY... though possibly not as amusing)

I thought we'd see Iroh's journey to the Spirit World.

I thought that since the Avatar State was locked (at the time) Aang would have to "think like a mad genius" and find some clever way to defeat Ozai without it. I also thought maybe Momo would play some role in that due to what Bumi said, but in the finale it showed that Bumi's belief in the importance of Momo didn't really mean anything after all.

I thought Ozai or maybe Azula would die, though I'm happy with the way things turned out.

I thought the Sun Warriors and possibly Chit Seng would play a role in the finale and that the reason they were introduced was to have more "good" Firebenders to balance out the bad ones. Turns out Chit Seng was pretty much useless and the Sun Warriors were one-shot characters. What a waste.

I also thought maybe that golden "egg" would hatch and be a new dragon.

I thought Aang and Bumi would meet up again. I'm sure they did off-screen at least.

I thought Toph might have her issues with her parents resolved.

I thought Mai and Ty Lee might break out of prison.

I thought Zuko would find Ursa.

I thought Koh would return and possibly be defeated. "The Puppetmaster" sounded like an ideal episode for that, but apparently I was wrong.

Tying those last two together, it would have been interesting if Koh stole Ursa's face and Zuko had to save her. Given his tendency to wear his emotions on his sleeve, he'd have to use his Blue Spirit persona once more to win the battle. The mask might help prevent his face from getting stolen (though I'm sure Koh would try to remove it) and since he's an expert with broadswords, no bending would be necessary. Just something to think about.
