So, a while back there were some threads about Avatar tabletop RPGs... looks like someone finally came up with some stuff for it!

Oh, wow. I was just looking at that today. Small internet.

It's actually not as detailed as the 3.5 supplement found here: http://sites.google.com/site/avatard20/

One more thing. Anyone know if that guy who was working on a unique system for Avatar ever made any progress? The last I heard it about it it sounded good, but that was a while ago.

It's pretty cool and I've got a lot of respect for the fact that they were able to get it this far, but I had some issues with it. Mostly, a lot of the class features seem like they're really going to make it difficult for some of the new ones to excel in their chosen role--for example, Earthbenders being able to grant a flat bonus to a single ally and no marking Feature, from what I could tell, is probably going to make them mediocre as Defenders.

Maybe I'm being overcritical though. Seeing it in action would give me a better idea of what to expect.

And then there's firebenders. Their added damage class feature starts off really crummy. Like they'd be the worse as raw damage dealers than Warlocks. But then again, I didn't look at the powers closely enough to see if they've got a Barbarian thing going where they don't NEED bonus damage that much.

But against bosses, they'd be completely broken. Their bonus damage doesn't seem to have ANY cap on it, and increases essentially every time they hit, considering if the player uses any strategy at all, the only reason he wouldn't use a Fire power would be against fire-resistant enemies--and even then, it might be worth it to boost the bonus damage.

What I'm saying is it's a great start, but looks like it could benefit from some more testing and balancing.

Does it have to be with Dungeons & Dragons?

Why not make a separate game?

Whomever made this homebrew has absolutely no fucking idea what they are doing.

I remember when they were making that on the Giant in the Playground forums.

Earthbenders get powers that trigger when an enemy makes an attack against a watched ally.

Firebenders' Source of Strength does max out, it helps to read it.

Sokka: Alright, we’re just about ready to start our first adventure. First, all of you need to introduce your characters. What races and classes did you choose?

Aang: I have a halfling monk! His name is Ulmo.

S: Yeah, I thought you’d go for that class. Though I had you pegged as a deva kind of guy, what with the baldness and the reincarnation and all.

A: Halflings are cool little guys who travel around and have parties!

S: Point taken. What about you, Katara?

K: My character is an elven shaman named Valna Bluemoon. She and her platypus bear spirit companion have vowed to protect the natural world.

S: Good, good. Toph?

T: Bjorn Goblinstomper! Dwarf fighter. Total badass.

S: You do know that's a boy's name, right?

T: No, it's a man's name. A dwarf man's name.

S: Oookay then, that leaves Zuko.

Z: I’ll admit that at first I didn’t think I was gonna like this game, but I picked up a couple of books based on it and they gave me some great ideas for my character. He’s a dark elf who rebelled against his evil culture and-

S: Get out.

Z: Excuse me?

S: GET OUT OF MY DAD'S HOUSE!

Oh Zuko, you would make a Drizzt clone.
