So I had this idea a week or so ago, but put it on the backburner cause I have other things going on. Since Legend of Korra might actually do alot of the ideas I thought of and more, I will probably abandon it entirely. But why not share it here anyway!

Book 4: Spirit

Structure: Picks up right after the end of Book 3, and comprises of 20 'episodes' that I would do my best to write and wrangle other fans into. It would all be done in comic form, and I would have tried to get various fan artists interested in doing parts of it (main reason I didn't start on it was all the connections I'd have to make).

Super Deformed nature of the picure not related.

Premise: Basically continuing the story in as natural a way possible, I'd start with character driven stories building toward the main antagonist reveal around episode 8. Zuko and Aang would be traveling, doing what a Fire Lord and an Avatar need to do to heal the wounds to the world and its peoples. Zuko has gained no information from his father regarding the whereabouts of his mother.

Episode 1 involves Mai and Katara (with Sokka along) heading back the Fire Nation, and is mostly about them slowly warming up and bonding, while Sokka researches something (I knew what it was the first hour after I started thinking of things, but then forgot what it was). Mai thinks it would be great for them to see the Ember Island Players' traveling performance of the REVISED DIRECTORS CUT of the Avatar play. Originally thought it would cause problems for them, but now not sure I can actually Mai getting rather jealous (though she could be considered to have emotionally grown after Boiling Rock). Sokka ends up being kidnapped when he stumbles across a plot by a Fire Nation general to continue the war with a fleet of airships that were secretly built under Ozai's rule. Katara and Mai kick some ass, Mai's uncle would play into the plot in some way (told you this was a rough idea).

Theme one: taking care of business

Alot of the idea is dealing with loose ends, and some episodes would be just for that purpose.

Dai Li episode: Last of the Dai Li attack Aang and Zuko, they feel they have no purpose anymore, no home to return to. It will be revealed that Aang has only taken the bending of Ozai and Azula (lets face it, that would be for her safety as well as any around her) and when the Dai Li are defeated he faces that choice. He relents and tells them if they want a purpose and a home, they need to find that for themselves. They walk away into the night, dropping their hats to the dirt, symbolically taking their first steps away from their past.

Face Off: Aang helps his past self battle Koh. That's all I wrote, not really sure how to go about it.

theme 2: spirit bending

Next idea I wanted to explore was how being a spirit bender effected Aang and those around him.

Sunset: Jeong Jeong asks Aang to take away his bending (he did seem rather tormented by it). Aang decides to take him to the Sun Warriors thinking the experience will make him change his mind. The antagonist (this is bad order since I haven't stated what they are or their motivations yet), tentatively called the 'star society', attacks the dragons, injuring them. Jeong Jeong is enraged by this and Aang barely stops him from killing the enemy. Seeing how much he needs to learn, Jeong Jeong stays to help the Sun Warriors (as they now need to relocate).

Kyoshi Benders: Due to the escalating situation, Suki asks Aang to give the Kyoshi Warriors bending (which I figure Aang isn't even sure he CAN do, much less should). In the end, he refuses, but Iroh inducts them into the White Lotus society.

theme 3: Sokka is a badass

This is probably just selfish fanboyism on my part, but I thought of a few Sokkacentric stories

-Reforged: Sokka returns to Piandao to forge a new sword, but finds Piandao is being recruited by the Star Society. When he refuses their offer things turn violent and Sokka helps him repel the foe. Piandao loans him a sword and gives him info on "the black blade", a bandit that has appeared wielding a black sword.

-the Black Blade: Sokka confronts and defeats the bandit that found his space sword. Only idea for this is that it should be a girl, I even thought a bit of it being Smellerbee.

-Fan Dance- Sokka visits Suki, Ty Lee's circus is in town. Perhaps a fight with rough riders (unless this is cute down to a B-story and doesn't need action). Beautiful dance among falling leaves where they first sparred together. Sokka gives Suki a betrothal necklace, though they are unsure what the future holds.

Theme 4: A world without benders

This is the CORE idea I came up for the "badguys", which apparently will be handled in some way in Legend of Korra. Basically the enemy, the Star Society, would plan to kill the Avatar permanently (as in, during the avatar state) and otherwise do anything to sever the world's connection to the spirit world. They are an offshoot of the White Lotus Society, and believe the war, and most conflicts in the world, are due to bending.

Break - The Star Society breaks into Ozai's prison to ask him information, while their leader (an older, resourceful woman somewhat like the leader of Iron Town in Princess Mononoke) bribes her way calmly into Azula's care center to recruit her. Azula, like the Dai Li, feels purposeless, she hasn't talked much if at all since her defeat. Despite seeming that she doesn't care, Azula agrees to join them after the leader whispers something into her ear (I'll keep that secret for now). Azula would basically do whatever she can without her bending in a fight, which mostly means dirty tricks and some study of pressure points (the Star Society has many members who use techniques similar to Ty Lee, as that would obviously be useful in their anti bending war). This would also lead to a rather epic fight against the Kiyoshi Warriors (now all hardass ex cons with extra training from Ty Lee and Suki).

Random ideas and wrap up.

Blind Bumi - Bumi and Toph adventure time, not sure how to handle it though. Only exchange I am sure I want is this:
Bumi: That's not fair! You've had your whole life to be blind, I had to practice it!
Toph: What now?

Lastly, Ursa would be found, and the details of that I'll save for another time.

So, what do you all think? Interesting? Pointless with LoK in the works? Stupid/too ambitious/some other bad thing? If people were interested in working on it I'd put more into it, even though I have other things going on. Just curious if anyone thinks the idea has merit to begin with.

I'm known for being rather opinionated when it comes to fan works, so take what I say with a grain of salt, but I'll give some feedback on your little project here.

For starters, try a name other than "Book 4" because that's been way overdone. We all know the true Book 4 was that Forbidden Love video anyway. Even a generic "ATLA: The Continuing Adventures" might work better.

Your first idea is pretty good, I don't think any changes need to be made here, but it might be a bit tricky working with the whole jealous Mai plot you have in mind.

>Dai Li episode
Not too fond of this one because I can't see the Dai Li giving up so easily after just a pep talk. I do like that they feel as though they have no home or purpose anymore, but I'd rather see them trying to start another uprising in Ba Sing Se. And the Freedom Fighters fan in me would like that because it would give a chance for Smellerbee and Longshot to appear, plus Long Feng is still at large.

>Face Off
I like it, but I'd save it for big a mid-season episode, kind of like "The Day of Black Sun" if you understand what I'm saying. It would be interesting to see how Aang defeats Koh, especially if Kuruk is with him because he'd be inclined to show more emotion, especially if Koh displays Ummi's face again.

>Sunset
I liked everything except the "Star Society" attacking the dragons and causing trouble part. The rest of it sounds excellent.

>Kyoshi Benders
Don't like this one. Suki would know better than to ask something like that of Aang, and I like the Kyoshi Warriors as they are, maybe a few of them can join the White Lotus when they're badass old ladies, but not now. Try doing an episode about them using the chi blocking techniques Ty Lee taught them.

Your Sokka stories sound pretty good, but I still don't like the "Star Society" and would prefer you go straight to the part where Sokka fights the "Black Blade" to get Space Sword back without reforging a new one. Maybe he just borrows one from Piandao instead. And if the girl is indeed Smellerbee, that could tie in if you use my idea with the Dai Li attempting to take over Ba Sing Se again.

>Break
Do not want. I can't see these guys breaking into both Ozai and Azula's prisons so easily either. They're bound to be heavily guarded. I don't like the idea of Azula doing the bidding of a bunch of new villains either.

>Blind Bumi
>Bumi: That's not fair! You've had your whole life to be blind, I had to practice it!
>Toph: What now?

Sorry, but I cannot picture Bumi uttering those words at all. An adventure with those two would be awesome, but I see it happening more along the lines of that unreleased Nicktoons comic. They'd always be trying to outdo each other and exchanging friendly insults the whole time. But Bumi could teach Toph new Earthbending techniques and Toph could teach Bumi Metalbending. That would be epic.

Well, this concludes my review. Hope I didn't come across as too harsh. I think with some tweaking, this could be interesting. I'll be awaiting your thoughts.

Well, honest opinions are the only ones that help at all, so doing worry about being harsh. Bringing the Dai Li more to the center would be interesting, they were simply too organized, too powerful and have lost too much to just disappear without a fight. I can definitely see doing more with them. Also would be an excuse to bring Long Feng out again.

The face off with Koh is something I know someone more capable then I would love to head up. It and the Bumi/Toph ideas are ones know others have got to have kicking around in their heads, and I would love to see.

The fight idea in Sunset is probably just some random urge to put violence everywhere, but I do think the idea works well without it. Having the Star Society (still a really, really tentative name... maybe if I knew more about paicho) pose actual threats to all the sources of bending would be important though, I just have to think of enough ways for them to do it.

The idea in the 'reforged' episode is actually for Piandao to just loan him a sword so he can quest for his old one. Thanks for the input... now what's this about an unreleased nick comic?

>what's this about an unreleased nick comic?
When the Nick magazine went out of print, a bunch of comics went unpublished.
