Old Thread Here >>69934

Since the project is now under new Keiffer-less management, I figured it deserved a new thread to celebrate it's new direction.

Well... that and the old thread had reached it's bump limit.

P.S. I know the pic I'm using isn't actually from the project, but dammit, it should be!

So, any suggestions on how a person starts a large scale fan project? Should I just start making connections here and there, or just start tossing out ideas until someone wants to work with me?

*Checks old thread*
y'know, I'm really not surprised.
He was always the cancer of the project anyway.
Good luck with whatever new direction you are gonna take it.

Sorta bumping for a little brainstorm I had for a few days then forgot. :/ I think there was a point made by Ninja in the last thread that just because the project was furtively based around ICP doesn't automatically mean it sucked. Sharkman replied that the problem was the clandestine nature of this link, and then used an example of a thinly-veiled Avatar tribute to "The Dark Side of the Moon" that actually sounded kinda neat, so I'm not sure how well the point got across.

I speculated that if Keiffer was just upfront about the tribute from the start...he might have got maybe four contributors, but at least they wouldn't feel cheated. But I was thinking just now that even if the project was an overt tribute to something that wasn't shit, Keiffer's managerial style should have run alarm bells long before the balloon went up.

To whit, here's an idea I've been mulling over these last few days (pre-Korra): many decades after the war, the Fire Nation is enthralled by the exploits of army aviator Major Tom, who sets out to explore the unexplored ocean on the far side of the world in his specially-built tin can. Ground control loses contact, and he's never heard from again.

More decades pass, and Aang passes away. The new infant Avatar is born into the Water Tribe, unaware of her abilities, but during the transition the Avatar world comes under strain from marauding giant spiders. Relating to ancient folklore, they're believed to come from the undiscovered island of M'as. The spiders carry off the infant Avatar to parts unknown.

The only man who can track them is a mysterious and charismatic rebel with an eyepatch called Zi Gi Stardust.

He travels to the far side and battles with the Spiders of M'as, discovering his missing mother who warns him that if he wants to get things done, he'd better not mess with Major Tom. She reveals that the missing aviator struck out at heaven's high, but now he's reached an all-time low.

Zi Gi finds the Avatar at the heart of a magical labyrinth, and finds that the only way they can escape is if she taps her dormant Avatar powers. They seem blocked, but she recalls her dreams of a staaarman, waitin' in the sky. He'd like to come to meet us, but he thinks he'll blow our minds.

Running out of options, and with Major Tom and the Spiders from M'as on their backs, Zi Gi appeals to the heavens!

I asked on your forum, but I figured I'd ask here to in case you were checking more often:

Are you starting entirely from scratch with this project? If there really are that many talented people involved in this, I'd like to get involved, but that would be something I'd like to know.
