Somebody needs to order this shit and scan it.I'll do it if no one else wants to.

Isn't this what everyone's been saying since the movie was released?Hasn't there already been many pictures of this scenario?I guess what I'm saying is, isn't this rather redundant and pointless?
>>81806Yeah but the art is purdy.
I ordered it. As Senor said, the art is real purdy. I'll probably scan it if nobody else does it and people want me to.
>>81806There will never be enough hate directed towards this movie.Never.
>>81803>>81809DO WANT
Wait, I'm on my phone, so I can't tell. What is this?
>>81809>Senor
>>81829 Ow!
>order>fanbook>order a fanbookIsn't that copyright infringement?
>>81836I think it's a gray area, like doujinshi.
>>81837I don't speak Spanish.
>>81839Tu es puta.
>>81840Joder, que español tan más enpochado. Te lo juro, dilo en voz alta y te oyes puto a todo dar, mano.
>>81841Lo siento. I don't really speak español that well, just a few basic sentences.
>>81829Sorry, Seviper. All you non-Goldmembers look the same to me from my magic Gold Member sky-castle.
>>81901 Random Anon here. I have two questions.1) What does a Goldmember get that normal anons don't?2) How do you become a Goldmember?
>>81902Well that sounds like something that could be answered by checking the FAQ.
;N; I HAVE NO MONEY IN MY ACCOUNT AND I CANNOT ORDER THIS<////////////////////////3
Today's the last day to order this, and I'm a bit strapped for cash...should I? It at least looks pretty funny...is this thing even legal to sell?
>>81901Oh Mindwipe, you silly Decepticon, there's no such thing as a magic Gold Member sky-castle.>>81805I wish amazon could sell this.
>>81919Well if you do, scan it up for the rest of us. :)
>>81932Yes, someone please scan this for us. Many thanks in advance.>>81931>there's no such thing as a magic Gold Member sky-castleThat's just what you WANT us to think!
>>81936No, seriously. That's just Mindwipe when he gets too munch energon with Jägermeister.>>81919D=How could I miss that?!Welp, I hope I can get those scans as soon as is released.
>>81809I ordered this as well. The size of the pages (B4) means you’ll have to slice the book apart to scan it on a normal scanner.
Has anybody received this book yet?
I got an e-mail yesterday saying they just shipped them, and that we can expect them, soon.(Also, you triple posted, delete a few of 'em.)
>>82619Messages deleted, thank you.I actually just got my copy in today!
>>82654Scan plz?
>>82654Same, I'll post a "review" of sorts, later.
Right, I have time to post up a review. In a quick summation: the artwork's nice but I'm actually a little disappointed. The book opens with them making a few disclaimers. Aside from the obvious one of them not owning the characters and that this was a parody work it also clears up two things: that they're not associated with the protest movement, choosing to make fun of the movie rather than get angry or boycott, while also acknowledging that they would have wanted a more accurate or diverse cast. The second disclaimer lets the reader know that at the time of the creation and printing of the comic, they had not seen the movie. And it shows.Despite them claiming they aren't associated with the protest, they sure draw a great deal of their jokes at the movie at the casting and the cultural blockheadedness of the movie. If you were hoping for a play-by-play in depth kind of deal of the characters essentially MST3K-ing the shit out of this movie, you're not going to find it here. Most of the shots taken at the movie relate to the casting, the seriousness, and the name pronunciations, and all in all, rather generic things to talk about the movie, which seems like a wasted opportunity given what ended up being the best unintentional comedic moments of the actual film.Very few pages of the comic itself are actual sequential art. Of the entire thing, only seven are actual comic pages, two of which are an opening joke of them seeing James Cameron's Avatar, not The Last Airbender. The rest of the comic pages done by the artist are usually one-shot drawings of other characters, typically poking fun at either the Faux Pas of the casting calls, or making a joke about Soak-uh being a Vampire or Eeroh looking like Jack Sparrow. One gag that was in it was Soakuh and Movie!Yue share a kiss, it cuts to Suki getting angry and cracking her knuckles, with Sokka trying to calm her down saying "I swear you're in the movie, I-I think you're in the movie a little bit. But she just punches him for his efforts. Actually, I thought that was pretty out of character, if anything, tsundere joke notwithstanding. One that I thought was kind of humorous was Song reading DeDe Ricket's flub about "Korean Kimonos." Song wears a Hanbok, she's probablly Korean as all getout, but that drawing, (which takes up a whole page, and has no background,) along with others made me wonder, and here comes a tangent:...Why bother saying they're not associated with the protest when the comic touches on it so damn often? And specific issues, too, so it's not just a passing complaint for these people, they know specifically some of the things wrong with the casting and the production, but that disclaimer?>"We have not seen The Last Airbender movie yet, but we intend to! We love Avatar and want to support it. However, that doesn't mean we weren't upset with the casting choices. We were looking forward to seeing a more ethnically diverse leading cast, and were dissapointed with the way the casting direction was handled. But instead of boycotting the movie or sitting around being angry about it, we decided to make fun of it. This book really helped us get our thoughts and feelings on the casting out. Now it's on to the movies for the real deal! I mean come on, those special effects look pretty sweet.Just sorta comes of as "Well, yeah, it's racist, but it has shiny effects!"(And now, for cynicism!)>But instead of boycotting the movie or sitting around being angry about it, we decided to make fun of it.And make money off it.>This book really helped us get our thoughts and feelings on the casting out. Now it's on to the movies for the real deal!Feelings not strong enough to overcome a fan obligation to see something even if it offended them somehow, I suppose.Anyway, aside from that, there's a lot of pretty drawings and one-shot gags, but little content in terms of a story, and the book likely could have had much more (both in terms of length and specificity) if they'd just waited to see the movie somehow before starting on this. Was it worth the ten bucks I gave them and four bucks I paid to have it shipped? Tell the truth, I'm doubtful it was. I'll probably scan this after the con they're supposed to sell this at, or perhaps earlier. My scanner seems to be able to fit it well enough.
>>82721Well, I hope after seeing the film, all their anger and disappointment pours on to the page for a second book! Of course if they don't wait a little while to start on it, it would just be incoherent ranting, which may or may not be what people want to buy.
>>82721Copy and pasted. I feel a little cheated, as it was very different from what was advertised.
I had debated whether or not to upload this, but I'd scanned the whole thing in. Bit of stress to the book, it's well put together, but I'm uploading the thing.
Page 2 is just a blank black page, didn't bother scannin' it in.That disclaimer is a little hypocritical, I think, for reasons previously addressed by cynicism.
Not sure why I scanned this one, if I skipped page 2, though.
Proportions are a bit off in this one, I think. Plus, dat hand. The first of many pages that let's us know these people understood one of the underlying points of the Whitewashing, and felt that the characters were ethnically Asian, but still wanted to support the movie.
I wonder if they fucked up the typesetting for this page. Also, was Suki's season 3 outfit a dress? I don't think it was.
This feels like a joke that was made months ago...wait.
>>82957They could've made a totally in-character blind joke if they cut it off with the first bubble. But no, they had to ram it on home.
I'm pretty sure non-Fantasy-Koreans were miffed about that one, too.
A few more proportion things in this one, I wonder if they did these kinda quick to fill the book.
Amusing, if a bit out of character for Zuko.
I actually kinda liked the joke about the title.
>>82961That's a definite trend in this. The dialogue doesn't know the meaning of subtlety it seems.
Ramming home the Twilight jokes.
Okay, Suki is *not* Tsundere, and she didn't give a damn that Sokka was with Yue. She seemed to already know about it, and was only amused that he kissed her. She only got pissed when he started acting dumb.Maybe it's because my comic stars her, and I'd thought about her character a bit, but I was a little miffed at this one.
Thanks for uploading
More Twilight jokes.
Personally, I thought he looked like a wizard.
Technically, it's an amusing coincidence, isn't it?Irony is very specific. I'm not even sure it's ironic that most things people think is ironic isn't.
This is terrible
This is one of those times where it would have probably been better for them to actually watch the movie. They could have used specific examples. Is the theater empty, or is nobody complaining about Toph laughing so loudly?
It feels like this thing is gonna start preaching Zutara at any moment. That's how shitty it is.
It's like, reading various comments from people raging about the movie on /co/but now there is art around it
Page 20 was just a blank, black page.Again, amusing, but out of character for Zuko. Wouldn't this have been better served by Sokka saying this and Katara hitting him? It's treating Zuko like Sokka and Suki like Naru Narusegawa.
>>82982Wait a minute...>>82965THAT'S THE SAME GODDAMN PICTURE
>>82982>Wouldn't this have been better served by Sokka saying this and Katara hitting him?Somebody start shoopin'.
You guys are being too harsh I think it's a great book
Nice rendition of the finale kiss, I suppose, but the height is off. Also, that "the end" shit earlier? They weren't kidding that was the whole comic. If they make a sequel/expansion comic where they react to specific shit that *happened* in the movie, that's the comic this one should have been.No filler with complaints over the production, not until the end at least, no little edits of later panels to be used as omake/one-shot gags being the only thing on a whole page. I wanted a narrative, damn it!
Oh goody, extras, with 7 pages left in the book.
Isn't this joke kinda specific to those A:tLA Deleted Scene joke videos on YouTube, or GanXinba's Abridged Series? This doesn't really gel with people unfamiliar with either, and kinda goes against the five or so pages of them using the characters themselves as examples of Asian people.
This was kinda cool...but it wasn't done by anybody on the comic's creative team, I don't think, so I'm not sure how to feel about that.
This was kinda amusing, too, I suppose.
>>82985Eh, ok, not great. I think everyone was expecting a little too much.I'm just glad I was lazy and didn't order it.
Twilight joke, again. Why does this one feel...Zutaran, somehow? Also, Zuko seems to have stolen Dante Basco's nose.
>>82993>ZutarianJust because they're close? Chillax.
Ending words.I feel kinda bad about the "Dante Basco's nose" joke, now. I like the guy more than that, and he was once told when he was young that he should get a nosejob to help get him roles.
I actually like this sketch of Yue.
It's over! </StrongBad>
So yeah, ending thoughts? Not really worth the money, not all of it, I don't think. And it's kinda skeevy that they sold a parody fancomic for roughly the same price as a retail one. I don't mind supporting these guys, they responded to my e-mails any time I had a question. I even still feel kinda bad uploading this before the con they're gonna sell this at, but I kinda wanted more out of this thing for the 14 bucks it took to get it to me.
>>82992I don't know about you but I thought it looked great!
>>82994I don't know, just the fact that it was Zuko and Katara, and she's in her Fire Nation outfit and stuff. I mean, why not Mai? But it's just a small feeling, I don't give it any serious thought.
...That was pretty bad. I mean, I've seen some pretty shit doujinshis in my time, but this is pretty bad. Jokes and writing are trite, art is typical weeaboo shit that ranges from mediocre to okay, and it just feels dated because, well, like someone said before, people made all these jokes months ago. Thanks for taking the time and money to upload this, though. I kinda wish I could donate some money to you to make up for the money you had to pay to buy this thing. Oi.
Thanks for the upload, Shark. Now that I've read it, I'm glad I didn't buy this thing. It feels so bipolar too, ripping on the movie, yet still wanting to see it, and being annoyed at the casting decisions, yet still trying to distance themselves from the racebending protesters and acting like it's not that big a deal. Very mixed signals there. I think it would have helped if they actually waited to download watch the movie, or at least clips of it, before making this. And may I add that the OOC scene with Sokka and Suki was very unpleasant, and I caught kind of a Zutara vibe as well. Maybe it's because they have Katara acting the same way to Zuko as OOC!Suki did to Sokka.Overall I'd give it 2/5 or something like that. You can tell they put some effort into it and it's kind of amusing, but other than that, not really worth it. Certainly not worth paying for, so thanks again for uploading.
Damn, you guys are really tough customers. As someone who did a lot of doujin work before going full-time into my own comic projects, I think this took quite a significant effort to put together, and the art is definitely above-average for what you normally find in doujins.I agree the jokes are a bit repetitive, and not that funny. I'm also a little disappointed by the lack of Mai (as someone previously pointed out), seeing as they DID include Suki. I'm not sure if this is related to a Zutarian affiliation or not, but... in Mai's words, "whatever. "14 bucks *IS* really steep. That's twice as much as I would have charged. Very few people will buy a thin, black and white book for that price. Even in color, this shouldn't have been more than 10 dollars. I'm not referring to the effort put into the artwork, but just realistically speaking, hardly anyone is going to buy it at that price if it's not an official product.Overall, I think this was a decent doujin, if very overpriced. And for a first collaboration, it's well-organized. I'm looking forward to seeing improvements (and affordable prices) on their next works.
>>83000I don't know what you're--OH FUCK I'M SO SLOW.
That was pretty good, I really enjoyed it. too short though.
>>83055To be fair, it was 10 bucks, plus 4 bucks shipping, but still. The artwork *is* pretty nice, I'll say that, the issues with proportions that I complained about were more with just an occasional issue with the one-shots pages. But still, I take issue with the writing and the content, considering the price and the fact that it's in greyscale (though the artist does know their way around a 3 or 4 tone system, it's something I've tried to use on occasion, with little success.)It's just very short. I think it could have been better served just uploading everything to a DeviantArt account and leaving it at that. So sue me, but I think a short little black and white comic like this one, no matter how well put together, just isn't worth ten whole bucks plus shipping. Maybe just ten bucks.Another example, though, I was at an anime con just this past weekend, or rather the one before, and Antarctic Press was there, and they had some Gold Digger fan special full of fan-made comics, and I do gotta agree, the artwork and writing in this one was leagues better than anything in that piece of crap.(Also, the Zutaran thing was just limited to that one guest pic, I didn't really feel like it spread to the rest of the book. Still, both that one little side joke of Zuko claiming he's badass and the last page just felt like Sokka, not Zuko.)Eh, I'm a picky customer, what can I say?
>>83118It's the shipping that stopped me from getting it. I was thinking "this sounds cute, I can pop down 10 bu... damn, things cost money to ship" and that was the end of it. Since I'm working on 2 projects I'd love to get published, I respect them for getting something like this done, even if it is really short. If I saw it at a con (thus not needing to pay for shipping) I'd probably pick it up to support them (and that Yue sketch is pretty rockin'). Out of character crazy is par for course for this sorta thing (at least that's how I justify my Eva parodies...). Though, like many of the hilarious strips in the movie thread prove, they'll have A LOT more material to work with if they had seen the movie, but I can see needing to get this done on a deadline, and making that impossible.A nice first effort, here's hoping they don't get too full of themselves or give up heart. There is potential here if they have the drive to keep at it.
Welp, that was really disappointing and I'm glad I know not to spend 10 dollars on it now. Also, wow, check out that wildly off-model Mai. How hard would it have been to do a quick Google image search to double check her outfit? Fuck.
What's with the tsundere bullshit? It's like they thought it was great comedy or something.
>>82988Oh this beats it to me. They talk about the "irony" of culturally cuestionable decisions, then proceed to butcher a language spoken in about 30 countries.Come on people, Spanish is not that hard.
>>83287To be fair to them, again, it's a running gag in certain parts of the Avatar fandom, and this one was done by a guest artist.
>>83287THANK YOU!Or, in other words ¡Gracias!
Thank you for posting this anon. I was curious about it, but reffused the idea of giving them my money (mainly because I don't believe in paying for fanart). Now I can see I made the right call in saving my money, which will be saved and then spent in original AVATAR merch.
