What if the entire war was a vast conspiracy perpetuated by Fire Lord Sozin, the Air Nomads, and the White Lotus Society to bring the four disparate nations under a new, unified world government, guided by the Avatar and bolstered by a newly-pacified Fire Nation?And what if it worked?

When, after the war, the majority of the Air Nomads come out of the caves, it will be heralded as a sign of the healing power of the Avatar, the new world order's ability to bring balance to all four nations, and the presence of the mandate of heaven.The monks planned to send Aang away from Gyatso because they knew it would make him run away, creating a world without an Avatar to make the people that much more willing to accept the new world order when he returns to end the war.Gyatso (an avid player of Pai Sho and an obvious member of the Order of the White Lotus) creates a plan where, upon his death, his body is placed in the Southern Air Temple in a scene designed to look like he had been killed while fending off a Fire Nation attack. From a spiritual standpoint, it's akin to a Tibetan sky burial, but it serves a deeper purpose: they know that when Aang returns, he will first return home to the Southern Air Temple, and when he sees Gyatso's body and assumes he was killed by the Fire Nation, he will go into the Avatar State so strongly that temples across the world will sense it, relaying a message to the conspirators that it's time to move forward.

You feed them to Platypus Bears to prevent cabbage slug infestations. You cut them to pieces and feast on their raw corpses in your salads. You use them as mere running gags. But they've had enough. And they're not going to take it anymore...
