So just watched the camrip and uh...well...it wasn't as bad as I was expecting. I mean, it's not horrible. More like it was boring.The main problem was the writing. The acting got a little hammy at certain points, and at other points it was like they were reading cue cards, but I actually kind of liked Ringer as Aang and Toub as Iroh was pretty good too. But the writing...god. It takes Shymalan the whole movie to establish things that are made clear by the third episode of the original show, and he dwells on some things way too much, like he thinks we'll forget. Like the fact that Zhao went to a library and got some info on the spirits. Mentioned way too many times.Also, the lack of humor is an issue, but I would have been okay with the serious tone if the writing had been better.As for the bending, the effects were good but the moves themselves were, for the most part, ridiculous. Way too much effort for little gain. Still, I did like the way the fight scenes were edited. No jump cuts, just letting us see the whole fight in frame as much as possible. Too bad it looked so silly. Editing as a whole was pretty good.Also, there was the occasional sequence that made no sense because they'd changed it too much from the show, like the whole Earthbender labor camp thing.So overall, I'd say 2/5. Not too bad, but slightly below average. Its main weakness is that it's written like an M. Night Shyamalan film. Not that there's anything inherently wrong with that, it just didn't work for this movie.
