DID SOMEONE SAY ADORABONERS HINA ART?BECAUSE I THINK I HEARD SOMEONE SAY ADORABONERS HINA ART.
>>58331 She doesn't have the giant tits for that get up. But I'll take it.
Not sure if this is really Maiko, but whatever.
>>58369Awwwwwwwwwwwww.Adult Mai would be awesome.

Chibi Maiko, they're so cute!
So I rewatched "The Beach" and was kinda bored by Mai. I've always found Zuko to be hilariously dorky but I guess I don't understand Mai. What I'm saying is: explain the appeal to a Maiko noob?
>>59126Because Zuko is a dork and Mai doesn't hesitate to shoot him down when he's being thickheaded. He's hot headed and passionate, and she's scarcastic and low-key, she keeps him grounded. It's one of those opposites attract thing, only not superficial/stereotypical opposites like Fire and Water but more, you know, actual dynamics that matter to people. Plus, "You're so beautiful when you hate the world" or "I don't hate you, too" are just a-dork-able, come on.
>>59126I thought Mai's comment on the icecream part of the beach was pretty funny.
>>59126Cute contrast between their typical demeanors and how they act toward each other. Their relationship is also amusingly combative at times.Plus they're both so repressed in day-to-day life that it's easy to imagine them getting totally sappy/freaky the moment they're alone.
>>59133 people keep saying it's inferred they had sex in these scenes but I never understood how. someone help a brutha out?
>>59140Because the morning after, Mai's serving him tea, Zuko's still there and his hair's messed up.
>>59128>>Plus, "You're so beautiful when you hate the world" or "I don't hate you, too" are just a-dork-able, come on.Personally I thought those lines made them sound like an annoying hipster couple, though the latter was definitely better than the former. Their dialog improved quickly and drastically, though.
>>59143>annoying hipster coupleI'm dissapoint.
>>59146What? It was just one line, and the scene it took place in was cute as hell.
>>59143>Personally I thought those lines made them sound like an annoying hipster coupleSpeaking of hipster couples.....
I don't think there's enough facepalm in the world for this.So the picture I've posted is a lovely piece of art from Hina, called 'Seduction' recently got reported by another Deviantard for 'depicting underage characters in adult situations.' In short, the person reporting it whined to DA that it was kiddie porn.Hina herself is laughing her ass off at the whole thing, but it gets really interesting when you read the comments of her latest journal, because the person who did the reporting shows up to basically flaunt the fact that this is clearly child pornography, and we 'cupcakes' are all too stupid to read DA's policy and recognize it as such.People point out that Hina said her characters were intended to be in their early 20's in the picture, but the reporter counters that the characters in the show were 16, and copyrighted to Bryke, which means in no way can you ever claim them to be older. Even our fave Ali Wildgoose shows up and basically asks if she drew Zuko as a 60 year old man, by this chicks logic it's still kiddie porn. And all throughout this chick is just calling everyone retarded and tossing out condescending sweet talk and pet names, along with an overabundance of emoticons. Also she states she loves to come back to her reportee's journals to partake in the 'butthurt and lulz'Goddamn I wrote far too much considering it's really not that big of a deal, but holy shit this chick is pissing me off so much. But I know how much we all love Hina's work, and hey, everyone loves a good wank!
>>59399I've seen worse, but only because I browse D&D forums. Jesus God, that's pathetic.
>>59399Who wants to bet it's a HIBY fan, or possibly Ms. Diaz herself.
>>59404nope, some broad named Angelil...something? I dunno, but if you read the comments you'll pick her out right away. She's the one that everyone is pointing out as an idiot. She seems to do a lot of pixel art, and I can't even tell if she's an ATLA fan or not.
>>59399Now that I think about it, I think DA has some odd note about post-series fan art still being susceptible to their underage policy. Either way, it's still ridiculous due to the inconsistancy of how mods handle things and how loose the term "kiddie porn" is being used hereAt worst, that picture simply depicts Zuko and Mai embracing each other sensually, no tits or penis visible at all. Underage or not, it's relatively harmless
>>59399I think the best thing about the whole situation is that Hina's reaction to the entire situation is approximately similar to the reaction most people have when they're sitting on the toilet, they go to reach for the paper, and the roll is out but there's a new one sitting on top of it. It's like: "Wait, what? Oh, heh." She's not even mildly inconvenienced by the fact that her picture was banned. And meanwhile the retard who got it taken down is like, "LULZ LULZ YOU'RE SO BUTTHURT BUTTHURT BUTTHURT CUPCAKE" and Hina's posting awesome faces. This person really cannot seem to grasp that Hina couldn't fucking care less. I love her.
>>59399You know, there is probably very questionable porn on deviantart. No doubt. Yet this chick goes for (at least) teenage sex. Her comments are hilarious. I can't figure out if she is a genuine member of the fun police or just a zutard in hiding.PS: she's into anthro. I wonder if she knows that since foxes only live about twelve years, she is depicting minors nude except for fur. She says the character is 18, BUT HOW CAN WE KNOW?
>>59399>Total Cunt>Furry>Unfunny trollAnonymous never forgives.
I went and got some more maiko art to stem the anger from this Hina thing. This is an unusually earnest Mai, but I like it.
PFFFFFFTI guess that lady followed me from Hina's journal as OMG! This drawing has been reported and taken down! Which is kind of hilarious in this case as I have rarely drawn Zuko looking so inappropriately buff. What's that site Hina's been putting her stuff on? I suppose I should get an account there. :|
>>59526Most of Hina's stuff is drawn and hosted on Tegaki.www.unowen.net/tegaki/index.phpIt's really fun, since all comments are also drawn as well. Sometimes you end up with comment art that trumps the original drawing!
>>59526At the same time, Hina also has an account on Manga Bullet here: http://www.mangabullet.com/ds-hina/profile

>>59411Shit, i'm getting more pissed at this stupid bitch than Hina is. She keeps throwing the phrase "kiddy porn" around and its getting on my nerves.
hot damn, you guys.

>>58317>>59128Good explanation but their quotes aren't adorkable to me.Just cheesy and AIDS.

>>61501And here I was just stalking her journal reading about that. Ha ha. Good times, good times.
>>61500>>61501Well, I remember a certain someone telling me I should submit my suggestive drawings here, so uhm, yeah... *twiddles fingers* :(
>>61497This is utterly hot, Hina. The pose, shading, lighting, This pic was delicious to view. I love it all!

>>61497>>61503Yesssssssssssss.I did not like Maiko until you started drawing it. Same with GokuxChiChi. Both couples always seemed underused in their respective shows, almost like they were grudgingly put in. But you made me see a different side of them.Thank you.
>>61503Your work is greatly appreciated Hina. Also, whose goat to I have to sacrifice to get you to draw the Gaang Jr?

>>61561Win post is win.Hey guys, there's a serious lack of (good looking) Mai pr0n. Not just Maiko, but Mai in general. Someone needs to rectify this.

Wow something she has in common with Helga...*fapping at the thoughts of girls schlicking at statues.
A wild Hina appears! AWESOME.>>61561ENGULF THE HEAVENS WITH YOUR VAJINGO.
>>62367>ENGULF THE HEAVENS WITH YOUR VAJINGO.
>>62355Oh god she has a shrine....now I'm picturing her having Helga like rants at Zuko and then holding a picture of him tightly in private as she confesses her undying love to it....and then punching a smiling Ty lee for listening in behind her.
>>62387This picture was posted on deviantART exactly three years and one day ago. Just thought you should know.
>>62403Exactly? Dear god...PEOPLE ARE READING MY MIND IN THE PAST!
>>62403I LOL'd quite hard.
>>61503....Oh, that CAN'T possibly by you.
>>62546Let's see...Has Hina's signature on the page, it's in her style, name of the person who posted it is the one Hina uses when posting here...not seeing a seeing a conflict here.
>>59143It's more like people over interpreting this, and use it as a foil to how FAIL a lot of Zutara is. Still, Maiko is severely lacking in development, kind of boring, and a lot of fans have mentioned they fail to actually care about Mai unless they self insert themselves to her. It's been mentioned that one of the writers on the beach episode got lazy and just watched episodes of "The OC"I think if writers like Ali and Booter wrote it, and if Nickelodeon would have allowed Mai to have some well written episodes on her own, it would be better. But hey, what do I know. I'm just a "fan with ideas"
>>62557Eh, I did not really mind Mai all that much. She and Zuko were a good fit, personality-wise, although their relationship did seem to start rather abruptly. I don't think she needed episodes devoted to her; she was always a secondary character.
>>62565I'm probably the only one who thinks that Avatar having some MORE "filler" episodes would have improved the experience. In the same style as the NickMag comics. Like, one episode about Suki and the Kyoshi warriors, another episode about Mai and Ty Lee, with some flashbacks to their years at the Fire Academy, and maybe show a bit more of Maiko, an episode about Iroh, etc, etc.I know it's the popular fandom's opinion that the filler episodes ruin the show, but maybe it would have helped delve a bit into the parts of the story everyone felt were lacking.
>>62572I don't think you'll find much disagreement here, with the way Gaang Jr. has been sketched out. And I don't mean that in a bad way. I adore just seeing the characters interact without SRS BSNS intruding.
I think really season 3 was supposed to be the most OHSUM season ever...Then Nick said "Screw you" and slashed their budget to pieces.I mean, it's no secret that Nick hates Avatar(Case in point, the timeslots they put it in, the amount of reruns they showed it, the "ToyLine", The movie. The TOTAL LACK OF SUPPORT they give to it)I can't really blame Mark and Brian either. I mean I want to, but what's the point... Sozin's Comet was supposed to be the best part of the whole series. Unfortunately they didn't do a good job of explaining Aang's Lion Ex Machina. If only they tightened up(or removed) some episodes...
>>62572QFFT>>62580>Unfortunately they didn't do a good job of explaining Aang's Lion Ex Machina.I didn't want them to. What is it with people wanting to explain the force? The force is.And the lionturtle thing was pretty well presented, imo. Hero has conflict, goes on mystical trance, ancient magical creature answers his spirtual call. All delivered in two neat episodes, with plently of time for the final fight.>If only they tightened up(or removed) some episodes...I still consider season 3 to be the best season overall.Infact, I would've loved some more "filler" to expand upon Maiko, and TyLee, and Suki (specially Suki).
On an unrelated note.Does anyone think that we can convince Palcomix to do a Maiko comic after they're done with the kataang one? So far both Zuko ad Mai have been completely left out of the fun in all of the avatar comic they've made, the /co/ one and the 2 that were commissioned by someone on their forums. That just don't fly, man.
>>62585I almost wrote a whole speech about the lion turtle thing and the spiritbending battle of the wills that they didn't show, but then I remembered this is the Maiko thread. So let me say this instead, how many more people do you think would have been okay with Maiko if M&B had just gotten to animate the little comic story from Nick Magazine into a Season 3 prologue episode like they had wanted to? Not to mention actually show Mai SMILING AND LAUGHING AND IT'S THE ONLY TIME IN THE SERIES SHE DOES AND THEY DIDN'T GET TO ANIMATE IT FUCKING RAGE
>>62585>>The force is midichlorians. Midichlorians are now canon.
>>62589IIRC, Slim's plan is to a series of comics based on canon, set after the finale. So chances are something will come out of it.>>62593I know I would've killed to see it. Infact, those three (or was it two?) comics really needed to become full episodes. And I'd would've loved a special on the whole Spirit Journey Aang took between seasons as well.
>>62585>I still consider season 3 to be the best season overall.Season 3 is definitely my favorite (though season 2 was better written), and I really don't get the finale hate. I think part of the problem was how Nick kept everything from airing quickly, and that built up some negative emotions and left people expecting far more than was possible from a TV Y-7 kid's show.>Infact, I would've loved some more "filler" to expand upon Maiko, and TyLee, and Suki (specially Suki). The "filler" was my favorite part of Avatar actually. I loved the big story arc and whatnot, but the character interaction and goofiness were the best parts for me. That's why I will forever love The Beach (circle of angst excluded, though it didn't bother me nearly as much as it bothered others). Also, I think the great characters and character interaction is what makes Avatar so great for crossovers and alternate universes.
>>62597>though season 2 was better writtenHow? People always say this, but I just can't notice anything particularly better of season two over the rest...
>>62600It's not really a substantial difference. It's kind of like how the "best" Pixar movie is really only a bit better than the "second best."Season 2 felt a bit more connected and better paced even if a good portion of the first half was filler. I think the main part of it was how they had more a goal through the whole thing. The first half of season three, while I did enjoy it greatly, didn't feel as if much was happening. . .just waiting until the invasion, and then in the second half, everything happens. The first half of season 2 had that somewhat, but they still had a goal in mind: finding an Earthbending teacher for Aang while Azula tries to capture him, and Zuko gets some serious character development. Of course, I didn't get into Avatar until most of season 2 aired, so I managed to blitz through most of it instead of spending time waiting until the next episode would air like with season 3, and that would make it feel a lot better paced. Also, the Ba Sing Se arc was very well done.
I'm pretty sure people like season 2 because the portion of the season where they're in Ba Sing Se was pretty well paced, with an unusually sinister and non-straightforward antagonist, and the big surprises in the finale were actually pretty surprising. The second season also introduced Toph and Azula, both popular characters. As has been mentioned, it also benefited from not having ridiculously long gaps between episodes.>>62597I loved the campfire chat. It was melodramatic as all hell, but also totally reminded me of how I felt and acted when I was a teenager.
>>62580
>>62580>Mark and Brian either>Aang's Lion Ex Machina. You'd best be a newbie. If not, GTFO.>>62593>So let me say this instead, how many more people do you think would have been okay with Maiko if M&B had just gotten to animate the little comic story from Nick Magazine into a Season 3 prologue episode like they had wanted to? Not to mention actually show Mai SMILING AND LAUGHING AND IT'S THE ONLY TIME IN THE SERIES SHE DOES AND THEY DIDN'T GET TO ANIMATE IT FUCKING RAGETHIIIISSSSS.>>62605>>62620My thoughts exactly. I loved season 3, don't get me wrong, but season 2 was paced better. I also hated the formula of having a silly episode tossed in right after a SRS BSNS episode (Nightmares and Daydreams after The Puppetmaster, The Ember Island Players after The Southern Raiders). Also, you guys wanting more filler that showed more character backgrounds and such? I agree, except I wouldn't call that "filler", I'd define filler as "time-wasting nonsense" as Sokka called it. Filler is entertaining (mostly, if it's Avatar) but doesn't really contribute to the story.
>>62597The campfire chat was still pretty shittily written though. Awkward as hell. Background and new information slapped together. Could have been good but all this reality TV show shit. Do not want.
>>62636I wish I could call you a troll, but I'm secretly going to have to agree ;_;Watching a lot of the villain centric/filler episodes on certain animated series, people know how to do things. "The Beach" especially that goddamn firechat felt forced. Everytime I hear someone say "lol omg I can relate because I wuz like that as a teenager lol" I fukkin rage, because seeing these kids claim that the only time characters are good is when they are shallow as they are.Stain on the awesome that is Maiko.
Why so wanky? But yeah, I also still need someone to prove to me that Maiko can be awesome without throwing "but they look good because they're the same!!11one" and not just because everyone is pissed at Zutara
>>62642The same? For me the appeal has always been that they're opposites. Mai is calm and collected while Zuko is extremely passionate. Plus, Maiko seems to bring out Zuko's dorkiness even more, which is a plus for me! I do agree that they needed some more development.>>62640It wasn't that bad. I mean, the fire chat is far from my favorite piece in the series, but it wasn't awful - just awkwardly written, and the rest of the episode was fantastic and hilarious.
>>62640This.
>99 posts and 27 images omitted.Fellas, please make a new thread if all you're going to do is bitch about the writing. This is a Maiko imagedump thread.
>>62646hey i tried mang
>>62640News flash, teenagers are kind of moody and self-involved. The reason I liked the episode was that the villains got to act their age for once. Awkward exposition was indeed awkward, but it was not as bad or OOC as anon makes it out to be.Apparently, the commentary for that episode suggests that the campfire scene was originally much longer, but had to be cut down for time. I wonder if it would have flowed more naturally if each character had gotten more than one paragraph.>>62646Check this shit out -- I'm doing both at once! I AM A TRUE RENAISSANCE MAN.
The guy with Azula in the top left is apparently an OCDNS, but I do like the expressions in the Zuko/Mai panel. Also a pretty good Kataang pic.
>>62627I wouldn't call NAD a silly episode. Definitely lighter and softer than Puppetmaster, but there was a running thread of Aang's fears about the invasion and Zuko realizing this whole "make daddy love me by being a perfect son" thing isn't all its cracked up to be. They just managed to layer the serious stuff with funny moments and getting crap past the radar.
>>62679I have similar trouble classing Nightmares and Daydreams as "light, fluffy filler" considering the main crux of the episode is Aang suffering a systematic nervous breakdown. That's classic black comedy, and it provided a useful bridge into the Day of Black Sun.It divided fans at the time, but even though I'm as critical as the next person of Book 3's early aimlessness and later struggle to cram in tons of plot development, I thought it was a worthwhile episode and funny as hell.
>>62677Indeed. I appreciate it from a personal stand point, since I've experienced those sort of discussions with friend and family often.>>62679>>62687Agreed.
>Mai hates it when Iroh makes Zuko drink lots of tea :(. He starts acting weirder than usual.OH GOD DIABEETUS
>>63032HINA YOU WILL BE THE DEATH OF ME
HINA I REAFFIRM MY LOYALTY!!MY SOUL IS YOURS TO CONSUME OR SELL ON EBAY!MY MANGINA IS YOURS TO USE AS YOU SEE FIT!!>.>Mangina...huh...it sounds...right.
>>63074Mangina sounds about as far away from right as you can get, but its a cool Hina pic none the less.
>>63074No need to be creepy now.>>63032This is really cute. Generally I hate made up Avatar babies (excluding gaang jr of course), but this is just too cute. :) I love how Hina characterizes Mai, its always so accurate.
>>63074You are being That Guy.
>>63032Aw, Zuko as an affectionate daddy is perfect. Love the pictorial dialogue, and the fact that the toddler appears to be wearing shoulder armor. I'm pretty sure Hina said the kid's name was Roku, which is cheesy as hell but I forgive her in light of her being the Mary Poppins of Avatar fandom. And I may be the only person who likes these things, but here's a Dress Up Zuko doohickey! This is related to Maiko, right? http://defemme.deviantart.com/art/Dress-up-Zuko-84166289
>>63083He's always been That Guy.
>>62687How can anyone deny that "Baby, you're my forever girl" is worthwhile? I do not comprehend.
>>63088>Roku, which is cheesy as hell...>IRAH... isn't much better.
>>63146The names are always the weakest part of next-gen Avatar fanfic.
>>63146About that....Iroh: She is adorable. What's her name?Zuko: We decided on Irah.Iroh: Hmm...Oh, is that supposed to be in honor of me?Zuko: WHAT?Iroh: I didn't know you were that sweet, Zuko.Zuko: I'M NOT! Mai we have to--Mai: NO.Zuko: But--Mai: NO.Zuko: Uncle, somehow...you're already a horrible influence on my daughter.
>>63151It's true, Irah's name was originally just going off of Ilah, just swapped the l for an r. The relation to Iroh wasn't noticed til after, in which everyone gave a collective 'hurr durr' cause it was so obvious. Then you have such winners as 'Yue'~:D oh shipbabies, never change
>>63151Don't even bother, Murph. It's bad.IT. IS. BAD. UNJUSTIFIABLY BAD.Accept this and move on, for the character, the part that MATTERS, is not bad. Alright?
The best Gaang Jr. name, Yi Lin, was stolen from an OC Isaia posted on DeviantArt. Let that sink in for a little.
>>63159Well, the entire project was inspired by an old drawing by that same artists.
>>63164>>by the same artistWhy do I keep adding an extra s to artist? I sound like Toki.
>>63159How the hell did we come up with Tseng again?Actually nevermind, we should stop derailing the thread.
>>63153>>63164>>63172The creation of GaangJr was on helluva social experiment. The names, while dorky, are imo one of the most intresting aspects of the whole project.People glance upon our work and think "that's stupid and cliched as fuck". And yet the names were chosen for completely unrelated reasons (except for two), following a logic that could only come from a /co/mrade.
And it still works.Maybe that's one thing that interests people?Oh look at their names, SO UNORIGINAL!..like the honeypot plant thing...wat?
>>63267Dude, are you high.
Hayoda and Irah are the worst.Google some proper names you guise.
>>63475Wait, HAYODA and Irah? I'll give you points for Irah, but what's wrong with Hayoda?I woulda said Yue and Irah - Sokka named his daughter after his first love d'awwww how originalsage for thread derail
>>63482Hayoda is the worst of the bunch. His name is literally just "Hakoda" with the k turned into a y.
>>63513I never caught that in the beginning cause I was pronouncing it 'Hay-oda' and not like 'Hakoda with a y'When it was pointed out, I was like 'oh damn, I'm slow.'Most uncreative still goes to Yue imo
>>63514I think one of the reasons I don't care so much about Irah's name is that I never pronounce it with a long i sound. I say it with either a short i or a long e, closer to the Latin word "ira" than the name "Ira."And existing names with one letter changed is totally lamer than just straight-up naming the character after another one.
>>63516True, right now the lamest names are Hayoda and Irah. Until you factor how we chose those names. We need to expand on the wiki regarding the names and those first threads.
>>63516Which coincidentally, means "Wrath" in spanish and Latin.Hmmm.
>>63516>>63531I use a similar pronountiation, but sometimes I switch the "r" for an "l" randomly.
>>63531Since basically the beginning of Gaang Jr., I have been trying to come up with a really solid way of making a "Dies Ira" pun.
Wasn't "Irah" a sheer coincidence? Or was that just part of the Gaang Jr. canon?
>>63535Isn't it Dies Irae?
>>63550Yeah probably, but it's still the same word.
>>63537It was a half coincidence, I think. Wasn't she named after Ilah, wife of Azulon? It just happened to sound like Iroh's name as well, something we've joked about in that one snippet.
>>63552Yeah, I just never know how to pronounce things that are Latin or Greek. I have the feeling it's "Aye-Ray" but I don't know.>>64479:3This image better come with a free shot of insulin otherwise, it's been nice knowing you guys ;_;
The names arent that bad, at least they don't have any weird ass fucked up names like "Destiny" or "Miracle".
>>64479Mai looks so adorable here. :)...I suppose Zuko does too...>>64495Both those names are shit terrible, even when not pertaining to HIBY. I hate those names.
Cute art meme, or cutest art meme?
I found this on LJ. It took me a minute to figure out what was going on, but then I lol'd.

>>68587Do you really have nothing better to do?
>>68587Anonymous, why do you hate fun?
>>68587OSHI-I hope that's not true. Though I would not be surprised if it was.
>>68587I hope you're joking, anon. But then I remember that Katie Matilla works for Mtv and is a fan of those reality tv shows.
Does it really matter if it's true? "The author is dead" and all that - who cares why she wrote things the way that she did? If you liked it, continue doing so. If you didn't, why are you bothering with this thread anyway? And personally, I don't mind the idea of her thinking of them as dweeby teenagers instead of some kind of legendary romance. That's half of why I liked Mai/Zuko so much to begin with!
>>68587It's stated a number of times in the commentary for that episode. It's not just supposed to be like an episode of the OC, it's supposed to be like a John Hughes movie. What I don't get is why people think this sucks, instead of thinking that it's totally awesome. The episode was fun because it was goofy and amusing, and featured the teenage characters acting like teenagers. I really don't understand the hate.
>>68587I'm almost in agreement that this is why Maiko kind of fails. I think it could have been more real if it was less like reality TV/whatever kind of dumbass 80's movie they were trying to turn it into.>>68625"What I don't get is why people think this sucks, instead of thinking that it's totally awesome"Like Zutara? Jesus, I hope not.
>>68630Who said anything about Zutara?
>>68587So because Maiko wasn't some gooey Romeo-and-Juliet-type romance you think it was poorly written? I love the way Mai called Zuko on his BS when he was acting like a clingy jerk, and I like how Zuko was able to encourage Mai to open up and relax. They made each other happy, an impressive feat, some might say. I'll take lines like "I don't hate you too" over melodramatic ones like "I looove you soooo much, I would wither and die without you, my darling one!" I'll leave that to the Zutards.
>>68633"I don't hate you, too". Classic.
>>68587I'm calling troll. But the little voice at the back of my head is telling me that troll has a point. Sure Maiko ain't passionate "OMG OPPOSITES ATTRACT" bullshite, but I gotta admit it was forced on the basis that Mai wasn't developed on her own.And yeah, the writing was weakest in "The Beach" and the finale. Strongest in "The Boiling Rock"
>>68654Perhaps the same could be said of Kataang. And this coming from a hardcore Maiko and Kataang freak here.
>>68630 More real? Maiko was probably the most realistic relationship on the show. It was just teenaged romance, no other bullshit. I don't see what the problem with it was. But oh well, I guess they all can't be "masterpieces" like HIBY. (or any other melodramatic, OOC, Zutara fanfic) Obviously, Mike and Bryan should've consulted Jackie Diaz.>>68658Kataang was one of the many things that got screwed up during the second half of season 3. Before that, it was developing pretty well, imo.
Though, I don't really pay attention to Maiko hate, considering that 95% of it stems from the fact that Zuko's banging a girl not named Katara....Yeah, I went there.
hai guise, why so defensive?
"I don't hate you too" is exactly the sort of dumb thing young people in love that don't wanna be cliche say. I liked it for that kind of dorky realism.I mean, I used to say, "I love you more than five." That's not gonna make any kind of sense without context.
>>68664That seems to be the consensus. A lot of the fans fell in love with the idea during the hostage scene in the Waterbending Scroll and never let it go.Mai and Zuko are both dorks, and the former has little sense of romance as such... that it what made it so sweet.
>>68664
Comment on a Maiko from F!S a couple days ago I found funny."Maiko:Angry Emo Dork with mommy issues *cough*fanboy*cough*+Stoic Disinterested Goth that hates her family *cough*fangirl*cough*=The relationship most of us are in and or will be in someday. Win."
I'd have to agree with some of the anons here. Though it was pretty cool for a bit. It isn't that it was dorky realistic, it was just half-assed.
>>68777Funny. That's the exact reason why this pairing bugs the hell out of me.
>>69611You hate happiness?
>>69623Safe bet. This is the internet, after all.
>>69377What's up with all the commenters who are always saying shit like "Cute drawing, but I hate Mai" or "OMG this is so pretty, normally I hate Maiko cuz I wanted Zutara, but I think I can tolerate it after seeing your artz :D" Can't people keep their shipwank to themselves for five seconds? I don't comment on Zutara pics and say "I hate Zutara, but you're such a good artist" or "Zuko is cool, but Katara is such a bitch/I like Katara, but Zuko is so emo". This happens to Kataang pics too, but not nearly as much.>>69611You're kindly invited to go look at some Zutard hatesex then if fluffy canon bothers you.
>>69643I personally find it hilarious how they simply can't let go.
>>69643Maybe it's something like street cred among gangs in movies about inner city kids who meet an unconventional teacher.Like they come to teach them poetry or dancing, and they secretly like it, but their friends are all "man, who needs that?" so they've gotta be all "Hey man, I'm not into that, but I guess you do it good." in order to save face.
>>69643But we often do say things like, "This pic looks great, too bad it's Zutara!" or "I love the way this artist draws, now if only they weren't a Zutara shipper!"
>>69659I can't speak for the entire board, but I've never said anything like that.
Yes, but we don't leave those comments on the DA account itself, and Zutara has the stigma of being dumb, so of *course* we can do that right back and be in the right. lol, double standardBut seriously, it *is* annoying as hell no matter who does it when that's something like the first comment. People do that to Hina all the time.
THIS PLEASES ME
Mai and Nico Robin? Two great tastes that go great together!
It is a double standard pretty much. Mindblown because all the pairings (fanon or canon) became corny in the end anyway.Kind or hard to choose between emotionless scripting of Maiko, and lame hatesex of Zutara, and fat lesbian fangirls fingering themselves to slash.
>>fat lesbian fangirls fingering themselves to slashI thought slash was a het fangirl thing?
Zuko's a g-g-g-ghost!
I posted this in my blog/HF with the title "Happiness".Be warned about naked pregnancy.
>>70262Awwwww....I really like Mai's little smile there, JVC. Nice touch.
>>70262D'awww! Of course, we all know that whatever hormones causing this will eventually wear off and she'll return to her "BRING ME A LIVE GOATRABBIT LEST YOU TAKE ITS PLACE" phase.
>>70262i jsut cant get past the LOLnatamy
Speaking to most of my college friends and hosting an online survey: Most of the more spoiled kids who've had more shallow relationships prefer Maiko. The minorities or kids with emotional disorders or who were new to relationships prefered ZutaraYounger kids or kids who've grown up on Disney movies prefer Kataang.More or less.
>>70286oh jesus, now I can't unsee it.
I want to see more comics or interesting writing on Maiko. Where Mai isn't just a talking bored head. Maikouts are hot, but is that all there is to the images?
>>70313Nobody cares.>>70315I do, too. I know "Coming Home", the comic that takes place between seasons, was a nice look at Mai actually laughing and taking a load off her shoulders, but we need more of that.
>>70313K....
>>70315http://www.fanfiction.net/u/17289/Rawles
>>70313>emotional disorders>ZutaraWell, you got one thing right. Now GTFO, DietOtaku.
>>70332And I thought I was done there, but let me add one more thing. People who think only dumb little kids like Kataang are idiots. Just because it's sweet and fluffy and not instant fap material doesn't mean teens and adults don't like it too. In fact, from my experience, Kataang fans are the older/more mature ones, while Zutards tend to be the angsty teens shouting TRU WUV! MENT 2 BE! and crying about the finale.
>>70333I like both these pairings. But I do feel that they were still forced. Thanks to Zutara.*RAGE*
>>70332aspies detected
Maiko's okay and all. But Jesus, you guys are just as hilarious as the Zutarians.
>>70397>>70399>>70401
>>70406You are correct, sir.
>>70401Oh really. Name one instance of a Maiko fan whining whenever Zuko so much as came in contact with another girl that wasn't his sister (TSR, the Toko moments in EIP and the first part of the finale, Song and Jin crushing on Zuko), or bashed Katara. Or writing weepy diatribates after TBR about how oh Bryke killed our ship by getting Mai imprisoned but OUR HEARTS WILL GO ONNNNNNNN. Or twisting the pairing into something out of a shitty romance novel. Or any of the other million things melodramatic Zootarians do.
>>70401Butthurt Zootard confirmed.
STORYLINE:After she helps Zuko escape from the Boiling Rock, Mai confronts Azula with the statement "I love Zuko more than I fear you." In this version of events, however, Ty Lee doesn't intercede on Mai's behalf. Azula ends up killing her with a well-place lightning bolt - but Mai doesn't pass away peacefully. Tormented by her unresolved love for Zuko and her feelings of abandonment and betrayal, she walks the Earth as a shade. She follows unseen in his footsteps, a lonely ghost haunting the man who cannot see her and can never be with her, even if she is with him.
Holy Shit.Warning: May induce gay.

Anon wrote a smutty Maiko minific on /co/ tonight, I thought I'd paste it here for the hell of it.“Ahh, Ahh, Ahh! Zuko, Oh spirits, Zuko!”Zuko growled his response and increased his speed yet again, grunting as Mai’s body writhed beneath his. The two lovers were always the most reserved outside of the bedroom, often going no further then a casual touch or embrace while in the public’s eye. But in here, within the Fire Lord’s bedchamber, the two finally released their fervor, often in explosive and fiery ways.“Mm, Mai…” Zuko panted. She needed no other cue and took over their movement, pushing Zuko’s chest down onto the bed and slowly grinding against him, drawing out their lovemaking for as long as possible. Leaning down, she kissed him slowly—one of the few pauses the couple allowed themselves during lovemaking. It was also however the only rest they needed, and the two were soon twisting against each other again.Mai kept her hands griped against Zuko’s shoulders, pinning him to the bed beneath her as she squeezed him with her core. “This time,” she purred into his ear as she twisted against him. “I’m going to win.”“Not…not a chance.” Zuko doggedly panted. Quick as a flash, he tapped the insides of her elbows, causing them to give way and catching her surprised body with his chest. Zuko seized the opportunity he had created, rolling the two of them over so he was once again on top.A luxurious moan escaped Mai’s lips and her eyelids fluttered, but she was far from defeated. Gently she trailed her fingers lightly across the nape of Zuko’s neck—knowing how much he enjoyed it—and was rewarded with a surprised grunt. Her other hand snaked downwards, towards where their bodies joined together. And then, wearing nothing but a wicked smile, she squeezed. With a startled yelp, Zuko buried his face in the sweet sweat of her neck, sucking and kissing and panting as he lost all control. His release triggered her own, and Mai trembled from the fiery waves of pleasure rising through her. Her arms wrapped around Zuko’s back, and her nails dragged across his pale flesh—leaving long crimson trails in their wake. The two moaned together, their bodies still unconsciously grinding against each other long after their scorching releases had ended. With a satisfied hiss, Zuko rolled off of Mai and onto his back. Mai molded her body to his, laying her head against his chest, cooling off above the sheets as she caught her breath. Zuko drew his arm around Mai, and she traced small circles against his muscular stomach. They simply laid there for a time, regaining their breath and enjoying the comfortable silence.Eventually, the two shifted to lie beneath the blankets, the night air chilling their heated flesh. As they finally readied for bed, Zuko spoke.“That was… more intense than usual.”“I had some stress to work off,” Mai replied offhandedly. “And you were the one who decided I shouldn’t use the servants for target practice, so…”Zuko chuckled, “It was the best decision I ever made.”

>>80441 Bravo, Mr. Murphy!
>>80470Keep in mind I'm not claiming credit. It's Anonymous' work. :D
>Mai: Come on, Zuko, the movie couldn't have been that bad.>Zuko: You weren't there!
>>82502Cute, but based on the odd presumption that Katara is interested in the least (she has Aang to train for one).
>>82562Actually I think Zuko/Katara is weird, I just drew it because it's what pops into my head every time I see angry shippers being angry and shippy. :3
>>82502The look on Mai's face is classic.
Skybison is rapidly becoming my favorite ATLA fanartist.

So how about some Maiko spawn in LOK? With M & B keeping Kataang together (obviously), I have a hard time seeing them dropping the other canon ships.
>>83984I guess if they ever refer to a Fire Lord ____ that isn't Zuko then we can assume that's their son.or that someone finally assassinated the faggot
>>83984I hope there is Maiko spawn. If it's a girl, I hope she's Mai and Zuko's daughter and she hooks up with Tenzin. If it's a boy, I hope he's their firebending grandson and he hooks up with Korra. Honestly I just want Bryke to throw the Zutarans a bone so maybe they'll shut the fuck up about it and we can be friends again.
>>83991 Cry some moar Zutards. That would be hilarious if they put Maiko spawn with Korra. It's like "oh look, you got your fire/water pairing, but..said firebender is the spawn of the pairing you hated the most. LOLOLOLOL"
>>83975That's looking good! Swan's art is definitely improving, but my minor pet peeve is he always draws grey eyes where they should be gold. Even Zuko has them here.
>>83991>Honestly I just want Bryke to throw the Zutarans a bone so maybe they'll shut the fuck up about it and we can be friends again.Honestly Zutarans can get bent for all i care, BRYKE isn't obligated to nor should they throw them a bone of any kind. Not after they basically disrespected( and still disrespect ) BRYKE because their crack ship didn't become cannon. These people have said numerous times that they hate the show and hate BRYKE but still love Zutara, basically they aren't even fans of the show just fans of the crack ship. Appeasing these people in any way would be like rewarding them for their stupidity.
>>84041Giving a dog a biscuit for shitting on the carpet.
>>83984Fire Lord Katara* anyone?(* Yes, I can see Katara and Aang being godparents, and I want the daughter to inherit for sheer Irony's sake)>>83991I am afraid I cannot see the point in seeking to appease the crackpots that threw a tantrum over Aang and Katara reproducing either.
The giggly fan in me totally hopes that maybe Korra has to go undercover in some anti-bending movements and thus has to learn non-bending disciplines and out of nowhere BADASS KNIFE THROWING OLD LADY MASTER MAI SHOWS UP TO TRAIN THE YOUNG PUPIL.And then Korra can have tea with her and Zuko. ;~;
>>84095OH HELL YES. And Zuko must still be a lovable dork, even in his old age. And he'll keep attempting to recite Iroh's tidbits of wisdom and keep getting them all mixed up, ala the Silver Sandwich speech.
ok, i'll admit i'm a fan of all the canon pairings, and while i like some of the crackships, i don't endorse them. I love sukka, i also like tukka. I'm not against some tyzula then and again, and i do like Maiko. It's just...I rewatched tales of ba sing se again, and... jesus fuck zuko.WHAT'S WRONG WITH JIN? SERIOUSLY SHE'S PERFECTSHE PUTS UP WITH YOUR DORKY BEHAVIOR AS MUCH AS (IF NOT MORE THAN) MAI, AND SHE'S CUTE TO HORRIFYING EXTREMES, AND ANDGOD DAMMITYOU WERE SO CLOSE TO THE CROWN JEWEL OF AVATAR, ZUKO, AND YOU BLEW IT*pant*okay... okay i'm done.that's all that's on my mind.maybe not the place for it but... i'll contribute a picture. though of the crackships, maitara is my favorite. yes i'm a baseless degenerate.
>>84232It amuses me to think that Jin was just some prostitute Iroh hired for Zuko.Or that other thing where Jin was a Dai Li agent who was gathering enough information on Zuko and Iroh to turn them in, but didn't because she had developed feelings for the dork.
>>84232Jin was cute and I honestly had nothing against her, but I can't see it working out between her and Zuko long-term. I seriously doubt she'd handle his temper tantrums as well as Mai, it would probably scare her off. Zuko needs Mai's no-nonsense attitude to keep him in line, and Mai needs his encouragement to help her open up.>>84237The first guess is hilarious, the second one is meh. I know the place was crawling with spies, but I never thought of her as one.
>>83991No. I want them to beat it harder. The Zutarian's baww'd because their head canon was disrupted with the proof that Aang and Katara had a kid.Know what i want? I want in universe for Korra to wonder if Zuko and Katara had anything.Zuko groans. That goddamn play. the damn thing went gangbusters (with a changed ending) after the comet. So now every idiot assumes that him and Katara had a romance at one point.Looking straight at the camera, he swiftly states that they had no relationship, never had a relationship at any point in their lives, and he couldn't even see how anybody had ever thought that in the first place. Cause fuck em, that's why.
>>84232Just rewatched it myself and I were it not for the feelings he had for the girl back home (and the whole fugitive Fire National under an alias thing), I would agree. The incidiary blowups _might_ run Jin off but in general they would have probably been good together.Still want to see Mai invite her and Song over for either a reunion or an orgy.
>>84293>reunionI'd just like to see the thought bubbles when he tells them he was the fire prince and is now the fire lord.Song: I can't believe he was lying to me that whole time! to think... the fire prince... in my house! AND HE STOLE MY DAMN OSTRICH HORSEJin: I totally felt him up at that fountain. Sweet. >orgythis should be drawn.
>>84298>this should be drawn.I agree! Working on it... ;)
>>84321YES THANK YOUyou know what?this is the talented part of the internet. i'm serious.we have good writefags, good drawfags... we could put something together infinitely better than HIBY. something that would shame diaz so that she would NEVER WRITE/DRAW AGAIN
>>84326Love and Lies in Ba Sing Se.Zuko makes an ambassadorial trip to the Earth kingdom with his fiance Mai in tow. To his surprise he is greeted by none other than Jin who sill possesses her free tea shop gift card and is looking to cash it in. Not only that, but a perchance meeting with song triggers old fears and feelings of betrayal.
>>84326>we have good writefags, good drawfagsExcept all our drawfags are in hiding as of late. Other than Korra art and JVC's recent volunteering, I haven't seen drawfags do anything here for a while.>we could put something together infinitely better than HIBYI'm sure we could, I mean, even a two year old could, but...>something that would shame diaz so that she would NEVER WRITE/DRAW AGAINGood luck with that. Somehow this bitch still has her own harem of fantards and is making a continuation of her fail comic. It's like Twilight... no matter how shitty it is, apparently there are enough idiots out there that'll eat it right up.
A preview.
Dude, we all know Jin is top-heavy but Goddamn! Also don't forget Song's leg burns.
>>84410Like always, your subjects seem to be having such a great time! I was expecting Zuko to join in some form (harkening back on the whole 'reunion' concept) but this is fine, too. Mai gets equal time with Zuko's ladies! Better luck next time, Zuzu!I also echo Anon's thoughts on Song's burn scars if you decide to color this .>>84415JVC does tend to....exaggerate his girls' figures, but he does it on an equal scale. That just seems to be his style. It's not like he's toontinkerer, who draws all of his girls with gigantic quintuple-G+ cups regardless of body shape. That just ain't right.
>>84419I am of the opinion that all of Zuko's love interests (including Jet) are 100% hotter with Mai. (Note, I'm female and fairly straight when I say this.)
>>84453We all have our tastes. Personally I think Song looks a little plain in comparison to the others.
>>84419please make them all oily and shinypuhlEEEEEEEEEEAAZE? :D
I would do Mai harder than any other girl in the series. Also, I suspect she's hiding a serious Dat Ass under her robes.
>>84459... WHERE'S THE PICTUREIT'S CALLED MAI'S ARSENALWHERE IS ITOH GOD OH GOD NEED FOR THIS THREADNEEEED
>>84464 This is why I only grudgingly ship Maiko. Mai's too hot for Zuko
>>84465thaaaaaaaank yoooooooooouuuu
Unf.That picture colors my interpretation of every Maiko scene, not gonna lie. During the EIP, when actorMai comes on, you just know Zuko's thinking NOT ENOUGH ASS. Or the ending scene with them, with the long pretty pullback of them holding each other beside the window? Two seconds later: "Zuko, get your hand off my ass."I think this needs to be a fic: GREAT MOMENTS OF ZUKO AND MAI'S ASS
>>84495Sokka and Zuko in the balloon, man. You know what they got to talking about. And in the finale, at the teashop..."DIDN'T I TELL YOU?""Dude. In that dress....yeah, I'm sorry I doubted you. Damn.""I KNOW. I KNOW RIGHT. I WOULD PISSED AT YOU FOR CHECKING OUT MY GIRLFRIEND'S ASS IF IT DID NOT, IN FACT, BEG TO BE CHECKED OUT."
>>84514I... I need to draw something related to this sometime ;_;
>>84415>>84419Thanks for the comments and suggestions! I'm aware of Song's burn scars, I actually put them in my first 34 fanart of her.>>84458I totally sucks in color effects, but I'll try to make them very "shiny". :)>>84495Mai's ass? Hummmmm... (taking notes)
Okay, I've gotta write something on Mai's ass now. Someone hit me with a more specific prompt!
>>84646Well are you thinking straight out porn or just mildly sexual/flirty?
>>84646Pillow!
>>84648Anything! But even given the prompt, I won't write anal sex.Gettin' to work on "pillow" though :D
>>84650>>84649 here, forgot mah name! Sweetness.
>>84650>Anything! But even given the prompt, I won't write anal sex. What a waste... ;_;
>>84718Meh, we all have different tastes.
>>84650Darn.And given that Zuko is more likely to be the spankee....
Okay how bout this.Zuko starts fondling Mai's ass in the middle of the night, she wakes up, sexy times ensue. No anal necessary, just ass fondling.
>>84723
Dr. Genome, where ARE you?
>>84729"Right behind you."If you want writings, I'll try to get something started as soon as I've finished the Sukkoph fic (there's only a page or so left and I know what I want to happen, but I seem to have hit the writer's doldrums). If any of the other artists or authors want ideas, then I have one word for you: hotdogging.
>>84650Since the prompt is "pillow", what if he uses her ass as a pillow after sexytimes?
>>84730Oh yeah, that works too! Here's a quick sketch. :D
