You know what's interesting? The relationship between Iroh and Ozai, that's what. I always imagined it as something like Zuko and Azula, where Iroh was an arrogant twat who had no idea how good he had it and Ozai was this perfectionist freak who their parents continuously ignored. You know what really gets me, though?Never once in the entire series do we see them together.ITT: We discuss interesting things that the series never really gets at.
>>72429And again! Do you think we'll get any of our old questions/cliffhangers resolved with the new series, or is it going to be too short to explore anything more with the original characters?
>>83562Probably the latter.I can hope, though.
Bump. Why? Because this dynamic can never be speculated about enough!
/a/, there you are!Come, join me for a relaxing soak in the hot spring.
there better not be any Ocelotsnakes in that water.

>>82839>>82932Sorry, I can't hear you over YELLOW STRING BIKINI
>>82568Nice.
Old Thread Here >>69934Since the project is now under new Keiffer-less management, I figured it deserved a new thread to celebrate it's new direction.Well... that and the old thread had reached it's bump limit. P.S. I know the pic I'm using isn't actually from the project, but dammit, it should be!
>Dat picture
Sorta bumping for a little brainstorm I had for a few days then forgot. :/ I think there was a point made by Ninja in the last thread that just because the project was furtively based around ICP doesn't automatically mean it sucked. Sharkman replied that the problem was the clandestine nature of this link, and then used an example of a thinly-veiled Avatar tribute to "The Dark Side of the Moon" that actually sounded kinda neat, so I'm not sure how well the point got across.I speculated that if Keiffer was just upfront about the tribute from the start...he might have got maybe four contributors, but at least they wouldn't feel cheated. But I was thinking just now that even if the project was an overt tribute to something that wasn't shit, Keiffer's managerial style should have run alarm bells long before the balloon went up.To whit, here's an idea I've been mulling over these last few days (pre-Korra): many decades after the war, the Fire Nation is enthralled by the exploits of army aviator Major Tom, who sets out to explore the unexplored ocean on the far side of the world in his specially-built tin can. Ground control loses contact, and he's never heard from again.More decades pass, and Aang passes away. The new infant Avatar is born into the Water Tribe, unaware of her abilities, but during the transition the Avatar world comes under strain from marauding giant spiders. Relating to ancient folklore, they're believed to come from the undiscovered island of M'as. The spiders carry off the infant Avatar to parts unknown. The only man who can track them is a mysterious and charismatic rebel with an eyepatch called Zi Gi Stardust. He travels to the far side and battles with the Spiders of M'as, discovering his missing mother who warns him that if he wants to get things done, he'd better not mess with Major Tom. She reveals that the missing aviator struck out at heaven's high, but now he's reached an all-time low.Zi Gi finds the Avatar at the heart of a magical labyrinth, and finds that the only way they can escape is if she taps her dormant Avatar powers. They seem blocke Message too long. Click here to view the full text.
I asked on your forum, but I figured I'd ask here to in case you were checking more often:Are you starting entirely from scratch with this project? If there really are that many talented people involved in this, I'd like to get involved, but that would be something I'd like to know.*coughtitlechangecough*
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100721/ap_en_mo/us_tv_legend_of_korraLOS ANGELES – A sequel to Nickelodeon's "Avatar: The Last Airbender" is in the works. The channel said Wednesday the new animated TV series will premiere in 2011. It has the working title, "The Legend of Korra."Nickelodeon says the series will build on the "mythology" of the original "The Last Airbender" series, which inspired this summer's live-action movie from filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan (SHAH-muh-lahn).The "Legend of Korra" is from the creator-producers of "Avatar: The Last Airbender."Nickelodeon executive Brown Johnson says the new series will focus on a teenage girl avatar named Korra. Brown describes her as hotheaded, independent and "ready to take on the world.""Avatar: The Last Airbender" has ranked among the highest-rate series on the Nickelodeon and Nicktoons channels.
I just learned about this about 5 seconds ago.I really should finish watching the original show, this actually sounds kind of neat.
>>83434I feel like you made a JoJo's Bizarre Adventure reference. Please tell me you did. My happiness depends on it.

Why do I wish I had a daughter like her?
I'm willing to bet there was a ghost bump which made some reference to the last pic in the context of the Chilean earthquake.

Just letting you know.
>>76656A new villain named Zutara, who has the power to drive people mad by projecting his maddening delusions upon everyone he meets.
This thread entertained me enormously, so I am bumping it.BUMP
>>76672That kinda sounds like Sasuke...
Okay, I wasn't expecting that.
Why can't I stop laughing
That was so worth the payoff.
Baby, why didn't you just day so?HAHAHAHAHA
I don't fucking get Aangs' arrows. I thought they were an Avatar thing. How come he's the only one to have them? Are they like a family birthmark?
>>83324Air Nomad tattoos.
Avatar Yangchen had them too.
>Fucking arrows! How do they work?!Airbending masters getting the arrow tattoos once they complete the trials of their art is a fairly established and well known plot point.Pay attention, man, even M. Night understood that enough to bring it up in his failure of a movie.
Somebody needs to order this shit and scan it.I'll do it if no one else wants to.
Thank you for posting this anon. I was curious about it, but reffused the idea of giving them my money (mainly because I don't believe in paying for fanart). Now I can see I made the right call in saving my money, which will be saved and then spent in original AVATAR merch.
>>83312Anon?
>>83313excuse me, I didn't read your name *used to everybody being anon*/noobaccept my most sincere apologies ; ^;*is extremly embarrassed*
Gaang is not canon
Pretty sure Sokka just calls them the "Aang Gang" as a joke, he never says "Gaang," that's a fan term.
>>83243You're quite right. "Gaang" isn't canon and was a fandom-invented term. The closest in the series itself is Sokka's "Aang Gang."
more like GRAMMARtar; The Last SEMANTICSbender!
In lieu of all the movie's racefail wank, I thought I'd bring up something I haven't seen anyone else discussing. As anyone who is familiar with my Avatar fanart probably knows, I'm pretty big on the Dangerous Ladies. When it was announced that Zuko was going to be Indian, my first though was "Oh man. Indian!Azula." And most of the Fire Nation will be, too. For some reason, the thought of the Dangerous Ladies being Indian pleases me- I love their original designs, of course, but I'm also a big fan of Indian women's fashion and design. It's possibly the only thing I'm looking forward to with the movie trilogy. Not to mention that the addition of three badass ladies of color might make up for losing Katara. (As far as I'm concerned, she's not in the movie.) Thoughts?
>>81700Yes.
Strange idea. Don't really want.IMO they look better asian. It matches more with canon, and it means we won't have to do the whole racebending shit again.
Ciel Phantomhive better watch out, Iroh looks /pissed/.
LOOK.FUCK YOU FUCK THE KOMODO RHINO YOU RODE IN ON FUCK DEM SHOES FUCK YOUR GAY ASS BLUE FLAMES FUCK YOUR LIGHTNING FUCK YOUR DAI LI AGENTS FUCK THEM HAIRPIECES WITH THE FLAME ON THEM FUCK YOUR FIRE FLAKES FUCK YOUR KUNG FU LESBIAN FUCK YOUR NINJA LESBIAN FUCK THE FIRE LORD.THIS IS THE EARTH KINGDOM.MY EARTH KING IS STEPHEN COLBERT AND MY EARTH RUMBLE 6 BELT IS GREEN NIGGA.
