My laptop blue screened, and when I restarted it, thewcomputer stopped being able to see the internal hard drive. I'm not much of a tech head-does anyone know what the problem could be and how I can fix it?Windows 7 on a Vaio laptop.
Were you shifting it around or dropped it shortly before it blue screened? That plus the lack of the internal drive sounds like a cord got dislodged.Also this should have gone in the troubleshooting thread.
No, there was no shaking or dropping- it was stably on a desk.Sorry for the redunsant thread.
Can you hear the HD spin-up when you boot?
How old is the laptop? Those hard drives start failing spectacularly after five or six years.
