I'm still kinda mad at Google for forgetting Robert E Howard's and Mr. Rogers' birthdays.

I just wanted to share that.

I'm trying to stop using Google search. http://duckduckgo.com/

There's only so many times I can take being treated like an idiot who doesn't know how to perform basic searches before I get tired and leave.

Er, I meant I'm using http://duckduckgo.com/ as my replacement. But I forgot to finish the sentence.

Google still has a better image search, and the academic article search is useful. But for plain text searches I'm transitioning away.

I decided to switch over too because I'm one of those weird types of people who like my privacy. I know what there is no such thing as complete privacy online, but it's better than Google as far as privacy goes. Haven't had any errors like the guy above me and search results seem better.

I've been using Ixquick for privacy. Is DDG much better?

It looks like the only major difference between DDG and Ixquick is that if I'm interpreting this right, Ixquick logs a small amount of the user agent info when you visit the site. DDG says they don't log that. Other than that, they appear pretty much the same. DDG's privacy policy even suggests Ixquick as an alternative privacy-conscious search tool.

somewhat unrelated: neat tool for anyone curious: https://panopticlick.eff.org/
