You’re stuck in Canalave City
No Pokemon that can learn surf or fly
You have no money
No items left to sell and all hidden items were previously found
You beat all the trainers on Iron Island (and Canalave Gym)

How do you get out? Also, are we missing something?

If I can't surf, how did I arrive at Canalave?

You released the only pokemon that can learn surf and you uh... threw out your HM? Can you do that?

No the game doesn't let you do that. That would be silly.

They've never let you do that even in first gen, and I'm pretty sure you have to get HM 03 before you get the badge that lets you use it, so trades won't get you around it.

From some point forward (Gen IV or III?) you can't even release Pokemon that know HMs so stuff like this doesn't happen

What you CAN do is get stuck in the house of that guy who gives you the German Magikarp by having the Finneon you trade him be the only one that can learn Surf and avoiding picking up any fishing rods (so you have no way to battle to level up the Magikarp or teleport yourself into town through black-out).

Wouldn't the game just notice you've trapped yourself and automatically black you out?

Better yet, they can code the move deleter to not delete moves you only have one of, why can't they code this bastard to notice you don't have any other pokemon?

Fish for a water Pokemon. If you have any pokeballs left.

They probably just never thought of it. It might be simpler just to not let you do in-game trades with Pokemon that known HM moves.

And besides that, if you go east to Route 218, you can get a Floatzel, Shellos, or Wingull to teach Surf to, or Chatot in Platinum to teach Fly to.
>> No. 24951
You could also use whatever pokemon you have to beat the ever loving crap out of whoever owns one of those boats and demand they sail you wherever you damn well please.

Seeing as how you've already mugged everyone you've ever met for "prize money"...

Could you like, get a job?

Otherwise, hang around on the previous route, waiting for trainers to come by. Defeat them, take their money, and save up to buy a bunch of PokeBalls. Then catch a water type, and teach it Surf.

If you don't have surf then uh... yeah I don't know. Certainly all the trainers that arrive would at least have it, so you could ask them kindly to let you borrow it. Otherwise just swim (swimming is possible in the Pokemon world afterall, just not for the player). If you're not a strong swimmer, your new water Pokemon could help.

Just rob the Move Deleter. He'll forget you ever did it.

Just tweak the game of its D/P, you can do it on the brigde connecting canalave city
