There's nothing wrong with Simon's girls. I don't know what you remember about being young, but I was a skinny little sprat, it's the older people who have filled out. Different bracket. Perhaps you should wait to see if Simon trys a few older characters, like Class of the Titans and X-men. The problem is the overly detailed muscle-tone. Many of his girls look like you just missed seeing the pic where they oil each other up because that's what muscle-tone like that is for. Simon needs to learn when to stop drawing and start on a new picture. Yes, some of the characters are rather fit. Kung-fu girls, Flash Gordon girls, atheletes, and girls who were from a drawing style that is halfway to stick-figures before Simon tries drawing them.

If you are artists, how many of you have an interesting enough personal style that you can be picked out from the vast amount of porn that is drawn? I mean instantly recognizable. How much rule34 out there actually has some sort of artistic opinion on things?

I'm not arguing if you should like someone like Simon, who has a very personal style (I love it, I can see why others hate it). But there's a lot of value in that, and he doesn't seem to be the kind of artist that gives two shits about what the general consensus on beauty or body type is.

You can be an artist that is loved by some and hated by others, or you can be ordinary and mundane artist, but you'd just be lost among the average. I kind of think boring and conservative people draw boring and conservative things, and don't exaggerate anything.

I've tried several times to get a commission from him. He always turned me down and told me to commission Conoghi instead. He wouldn't even take a Phineas and Ferb request because Conoghi was doing them.

He added himself to Paheal's DNP list and removed his Pixiv gallery even though they have nothing against lolicon images. It looks like his Nijie just disappeared too. My theory is that he's getting out of his friend's way. Or he has some nomadic blood in him.

Well, DARQ just gave me a tidbit of info on this situation in regards to why Japanese artist (except Simon) now censor over here too...Apparently due to the u.s censors they convinced (bullied) the Japanese Gov censors into extending their censor laws into the states, in other words any artist still living in Japan caught making or selling uncensored art can face prosecution from their own govt now, it's the same as selling uncensored art in japan now. And if you don't believe me go to Hentai Foundry and ask Conoghi himself, privately..And nicely..

Simon may or may not be Japanese, but most of his stuff was posted to Japanese sites so he would have to follow their rules. Most of the uncensored images are from people capping the chat rooms or streams he was drawing in.

He had a Picarto channel where he streamed cartoons/movies and doodled in the margins for 12 hours straight. He also showed a bunch of doujinshi by Union of the Snake that I've never seen anywhere else. (He has good taste in movies, too.)

A few time he got in the zone and churned out pages and pages of stuff. He drew a bunch of Minnie Mouse, Smurfette, Chipettes, and even did an animation really fast. I haven't seen any of those pop up in the wild yet. I screencapped some, but they're very small because he doesn't zoom in when drawing. That surprised me a lot.

But, just because ever other artist is a 24/7 open door with unfiltered tweets, blargs, feeds and streams doesn't mean every artist should be.
Yeah, I wish he'd be just a LITTLE more accessible... but apparently, every time he pops his head up out of the shadows his blog gets nuked or he takes a loss in some other way...

It's very unfortunate.
The basic fact is I like his art better than Conoghi. And it seems to me the more people that concur with that opinion, the more Simon suffers. It's a cycle that only increases in intensity every round.

Simon has a way of drawing that I find appealing in ways that similar artists, including the ones he learned from and deeply respects, are not.

But as they say, "nothing gold can stay".
When he posts again, there will be joy. When he disappears again, there will be tears. The cycle continues like the seasons. And just like my favorite season of the year, I'll be here waiting for Simon's art to come around again.

For me, there's something unique about his linework, and he doesn't zoom in when he draws his lines. I think he draws at 100%, or zoomed out a bit. To draw like that on a tablet using very fine lines, with the accuracy he has, is pretty hard to do. Makes me want to practice more with thinner lines.

I would have agreed with you 6-8 months ago. But it seems like Conoghi has stepped his game up again when you look at some of his most recent stuff. They both have their own little ticks and imperfections as artists, but they are pretty much equal in terms of skill.
