I think he refers to the rather sudden revelations of Luffy's pasts that add very crucial plot elements that weren't in play at all before the newsflash.

I kind of get where he's comig from. First Ace appears, then Garp shows up with this huge revelation that changes a lot about Luffy, adding a super important dad and grampa, then another flashback to reveal another brother.

Now most of these have had proper foreshadowing and build up, but I can see how for some it can seem like the constant and fragmented revelations about Luffy's past break the rythm of the story and get annoyed at it.
Like going "great, now what other plot twist for Luffy is gona happen.

Luffy's past has been a bit strange to me for a while. the flashbacks were usually really touching for the characters, but I never gave the slightest shit about Sabo. even when Bellemere and Dr Hiluluk appeared, I felt awful when they died for how much it affected the characters

he just... seemed to exist for the sake of "dying" in an ambiguous explosion. and that doesn't even factor in... I mean, I was surprised by Ace's death, but apart from a padded part in the anime and a huge fanbase... wasn't he in like 3 chapters before "guess what? he in jail."

love the whole series to death, and this arc's been really fun, but Sabo feels extremely haphazardly thrown together and tacked on. and that's coming from the guy who fucking loved the Supernovas, who were literally thrown together on a whim by Oda

that and waiting to see how this whole run with Kinemon is supposed to pay off in terms of story...

Sabo wasn't added for additional drama, it's more like he's a plot device for two things:

A) To show that the Tenryuubito and world nobles are scum
B) To add more characters to the Rebels faction.

That looks more like a sash or coat tail.

So slightly on the off-topic, but in the start of this arc where they reveal the alliances and Doflamingos resigning, they mention a journalist called "Absa" has gotten a lot of scoops lately. Absalom from Thriller Bark? His Devil Fruit would suit nicely for a journalis. Is this old news already?
