I remember some people were musing it would be an interesting change if the deposed king wasn't a saint, ah well~

Me, for one.
Though I can't really say I'm shocked Oda chose the safe route. I'm sick of the "good-hearted/down-on-his-luck" king trope.

This pretty much confirms now that the Toy Soldier was Kyros in life, lost, and got turned into a toy. Trebol's also the one underground turning people into toys, leaving Pica as the unknown wildcard.
Seems to be a pretty op fruit, too.

Well, vopalu wasn't a saint. Neither was gon fal.

Good chapter. Let me see if I understand this right though. The world noble donquixote family tells the dorfs they don't have to work and they can take what they want. Then they leave for mariejos, and leave the rikku family in charge. Rikku helps the dorfs build a field of flowers in tontatta. Doflamingo comes back 900 years later and does what exactly? Something bad, makes them have to steal again?

Doflamingo does something to make the rikku family appear vile in the publics eyes, and makeshimself a saint, though technically a pirate and no longer associated with the rightful donquixote family, but still legal since he's a sichibukai? Tries to eliminate the Rikku, turns rebeccas father into a toy and turns rebecca into a slave gladiator?

And now strawhats find themselves in the middle of shit. Again. Because they have incredible luck, good and bad.

Trebol might actually just be doing the grabbing with his slug fruit or whatever.

Almost all right but from what I can tell, the Donquioxte family put the dwarves to work MAKING that stuff (Ie basically slaves) and then gave it to all of the rich folks of Dressrosa

Oh, what were they making? The weapons Joker sells? or they toys?

It would be funny if Moriah was the one taking shadows from gladiators and putting them in toys, but then the toys wouldn't be able to walk in daylight.

Mangastream, includes the new volume cover (which is p good):

http://readms.com/r/one_piece/726/2123/1

I heard somebody wanted a TIMELINE. I mean I thought it was pretty clear from the chapter but I guess maybe panda fucked it up.

??? to 900 years ago: Dwarves are down on their luck. Doffy's ancestor, the king of Dressrosa, offers them safety and resources if they work for him. Unfortunately he actually meant that they work for him as slaves in the underground. Whatever it was that King Donquixote had them make, it made the regular citizens very wealthy.
900 to 800 years ago: Void century.
800 years ago: The Donquixote family leaves to Mariejois to become world nobles, leaving the Riku family in charge. King Riku finds out about the dwarves and feels so bad that he releases them all. He tells them that they can take whatever they want from Dressrosa and tells the regular citizens that fairies are stealing their stuff.
800 to 10 years ago: King Riku is nice to the dwarves and all surrounding kingdoms. The dwarves are so grateful that they plant flowers all over Dressrosa. The Riku royal family remains relatively kind. Unfortunately, Dressrosa turns into a pretty poor country, or at least much poorer than when the Donquixotes were in charge.
10 years ago: Doffy successfully pulls off Crocodile's Alabasta scheme. Everyone hates the King and his entire family. Everyone knows the rest, right?

cheeers mate. A lot of the dorf stuff lost in me in the translation, but maybe I'm not paying enough attention.

I'm actually interested in seeing doflamingo interact with his actual family sometimes. Wonder if the rest of the donquixote family is fabulous.

Bro, that slavery stuff happened 900 years ago. Doflamingo is not immortal; it has nothing to do with him.

Also why are these dwarves so hung up on something that happened almost a thousand years ago? They're worse than real life groups of people who've been enslaved at some point.
>> No. 32104

Apparently the family name didn't die out because the dorfs call him King Donquixote. So, 900 years ago, King Donquixote was a horrible warmongering conartist that only rewarded the people loyal to him, just like the current King Donquixote. And, 800 years ago, King Riku was compassionate, kind, and loved by his people, just like the current ex-King Riku. It's like poetry. It rhymes.

Also they're hung up on it because:
a. Dorfs are really emotional and naive in general.
b. It's happening again, with a member of the exact same family.

Yeah, the Donquixote name is the same, but Doflamingo is not, as this >>32094 dude seems to have implied. It should be the other way around, but.. Japan.

So the little girl who casually chills with Dofla isn't the toy maker so I'm curious as to why she's able to hang out with the crew

Also it'd be neat if Hack was a marine, has there even been a fishman marine yet

There hasn't, for good reason- Marines work for the World Government, which is super racist and hates fishmen.

A few lower ranking ones would probably be acceptable especially if they have the support of a higher ranking marine

Fujitora seems like the kind of guy who'd back anyone under his command up regardless if he finds they work well
>> No. 32149
It wouldn't hurt if they could recruit some fishmen into the force, at least they would have greater standard strength and underwater capability.
Though hell Marine grunts are basically pointless, I mean at Enies Lobby they outnumbered the 'criminals' a hundred times over and they still failed to take any of them down... and that was before the Strawhats really started powring up, to the point where luffy can literally take down tens of thousands of mooks with a look

What must the casualty reports be like for the marine administrators? They are literally worse than useless in any serious battle and unlike named or friendly characters they do actually seem to die at times.
>> No. 32153

I have a feeling Ennies Lobby isn't really stacked well with strong folks. Most strong folks hunt pirates at sea or guard impel down and marineford.

Best Ennies Lobby had was CP9, and they're not even the strongest cipher pol
>> No. 32155
>>32153
They weren't fighting strong people either not counting the named minority, its not like the generic Franky family members were ultimate badasses. There was nothing to indicate the Marine sea-men fighting in that battle were any weaker than any of the other generic marine mooks we see lose and die wholesale everywhere else.
Hell the marines even had alot of 'special' troops of their own in that battle, like those dudes riding wolves and whatnot.

It was pretty pathetic on their part to be losing so badly they had to bombard their own holding with battleships, though hell battleships are useless too against anyone with a name unless you catch them offguard and fire from far away.

Now what kind of example is that for the children, Oda?!
