Shonen Jump Double Issues
Shonen Jump is a weekly magazine that is numbered accordingly. So first week is #1, tenth week is #10, etc. Sometimes, due to holiday or some other reason, Shonen Jump isn't released for a week. However, the magazine doesn't just, say, skip from #6 to #8. What they do is relabel "Issue #6" into "Issue #6 - #7" and call it a "Double Issue." These double issues are usually a bit longer than usual since they often contain the full roster of manga series, however THERE IS ONLY ONE CHAPTER OF EACH, the same as usual. Essentially you get double the waiting time for no additional content. Fun! However, double issues do have an effect on release schedules, albeit one not readily apparent if you're not paying attention. While double issues are shipped and scanlated the same as any other issue, the issue AFTER is shipped early. Usually, what this means is that scanlators can get the chapter out 3-4 days early. When it's just a single series on break this can't happen, since the magazine ships as normal. Basically, instead of 14 days of no chapter then regular releases, it becomes 10 days of no chapter then 10 more days of no chapter.
TLDR Double issues are a hiatus except the next chapter might come early. This chapter which was released on Saturday is actually the chapter that is supposed to be released this Wednesday. The double issue was chapter 676.
TLDR 2 TLDR HARDER: No chapter this week.
