You are completely correct Penguin. Looking back at the panels that people have cropped and put here, like I said above I'm sure at some point, it was at the same place while the swirls were growing.

In the end I think everyone else is wrong, but so am I. We'll see what's really going on when Oda shows us :)

Well thank you for your input, Glad to know that even though Spreeses has been gone for 3 months, you still won't shut your fucking yap!

Congratulations! You chased away a guy with assburgers who genuinely enjoyed the series and simply wanted to share his ideas with us, awful as they may have been, by being an even bigger assburger who can't seem to enjoy the series due to his hateboner for a guy who did! AND YOU ARE STILL SHIT TALKING HIM ON THE INTERNET!

GOOD FOR YOU!

He was a regular namefag who used to post all kinds of wild theories that were usually pretty batshit. He was pretty alright, kinda bummed he got scared off.

A crazy dooshbag followed him around all of Plus4, accusing people of being Spreeses even before Spreeses even dropped his name, he hounded him across boards until he finally left Plus4 to Anon on 4chan.

Spreeses is just a really excitable guy who was imaginative in a kind of batshit crazy fan theory way, no one really cared and while everyone panned the shit out of his theories only one dooshbag took it seriously.

I just want this arc to be over soon and get some down time with the crew.

These guys took 2 years of their lives and trained their asses off in hopes of being stronger for each other, I wanna see some bonding and get some feels going so I can reconnect with the crew as a whole again
>> No. 27272

While down time would be nice, they are spending quality time together as is. It's just quality time with a lot of stuff going on.

I know they are and they have had some good moments already, its just that things have been going a million miles an hour and have no sign of slowing down. Maybe the anime will give us a nice chilled out filler arc
>> No. 27274
We already had like 2 or 3 chapters of them hanging out while going down to Fishman Island. Then another 3 or so after defeating Hody with the banquet and floating to the surface. What more do you want? I always hear people say they want more time for them to hang out and interact, but that was fairly rare pre-timeskip, too. I think the most vacation time they got off was after Enies Lobby, and that was only about 3 or 4 chapters if I remember right.

But I do agree that this arc needs to finish up soon. While I like what's going on and the new characters of Caesar and Monet and all that, I think it should not have been this long. He usually breaks up big arcs with a smaller one in between; Punk Hazard is starting to get a bit long in the tooth.

No, it's the simple fact Oda made this arc a lot longer than it needed to be. The "talking" dragon? Yeti Cool Brothers? The subsequent fight with them? Smoker?! I mean they were all nice things, but if you think about it, they added nothing to the story except stretching and padding.

Punk Hazard has been 22 chapters dude. That's like, a bit less than half of Thriller Bark.

Honestly you guys have no sense of (time) scale nowadays. Gotta go faster no slower no rush through the arc no slow down and relax no this no that! You all just gotta learn to chill.
>> No. 27280
>>27278

Correction. You THINK they added nothing to the story, which might be true. But I wouldn't bet on it.
You would think a veteran One Piece reader would know better than to declare something pointless immediately, by now.
>> No. 27281
>>27279
I'd have no problem with the size of PH if it wasn't for the fact we JUST now came out of a massive arc that was slower than molasses. And like I said earlier, Oda always splits big arcs with smaller ones. One big, one small, one big, one small; that's how it's always been with the possible exception of Water 7 and Enies Lobby.

>>27280
Mayhaps I can have a more clear judgement when this arc ends, but as it stands, none of these elements have done much.
>> No. 27282
Do they really need to add that much to the story? Fun stuff for the sake of it isn't really something new to One Piece, and it's not like they've been wastes of time.
>> No. 27283
>>27281

With the possible exception of everything after the cp9 saga, you mean. After small (Jaya), big (Skypeia), small (Davy Back), big (CP9), we had medium (Thriller), small (Sabaody), small (Amazon), medium (Impel Down), bigger-medium (Marineford), clusterfuck (everything after the war), then big (Fishman). We haven't been on a regular pattern in like 4 to 6 years. Heck, you could split up CP9 into Water 7, Enies Lobby, Water 7, which would be medium-medium-small. It just seems like the pattern has been pretty broken down for a while is all I'm saying.

>Mayhaps I can have a more clear judgement when this arc ends

Sorry dude, it might be more like "10 years from now." Them's the breaks when it comes to OP. See you in the 20's.
>> No. 27284
Do we really need a pattern? Its all plot.

Hurry up and get to...where?

One Piece is about the journey, not the destination.
>> No. 27286
Speaking of the journey, I've been wanting to reread the Punk Hazard arc now that it seems we're getting to the arc's climax, but I can't find a good place. Mangarule seems to be the best but they started after the arc started, Mangareader is still a little bitch, Mangastream is still in full paranoia mode, and Mangapanda is still Mangapanda. What's a good place?

>what more do you want

They hardly did any hanging out going to Fishman Island with all the shit that was going on around them. They were separated from each other for a bit on Fishman Island and didn't do much at the banquet besides eat, drink and laugh, there wasn't any real interaction among them.

After leaving Fishman Island, the "hanging out" they did was Nami taking a bath and some fishing for 2 pages, then pretty much immediately after that the massive fish gets a hold of the ship and a chain of events happen that thrusts them almost immediately into the Punk Hazard arc

I want them to actually talk and maybe even share experiences about what they did when they were training for two years. For example, we don't even know how Zoro basically became half blind and NO ONE in the crew or otherwise has even mentioned it once. I'm hoping for a short filler anime arc where they can have some real interaction with each other and let us learn more about the hardships they endured and how the crew begins to reconnect with each other.
>> No. 27290
You want canonical, SBS confirmed crew interaction?

In Fishman Island Zoro dared Sanji to put poison or razorblades in his food. In Punk Hazard Zoro ate food with razorblades in it while Robin smiled amusedly.

You want these types of people to have hugboxy "pasts and feelings" conversations? They just straight up don't give a fuck.
>> No. 27291
>>27288
The Strawhats have never talked about their training. Ever. The closest thing I can think of to just them sitting around without ANYTHING really happening would be... when they caught Mr. 2?

>>27288
>I want them to actually talk and maybe even share experiences about what they did when they were training for two years

Yeah, you want too much. Especially when it's never happened before. If you don't consider those short in-between times as "hanging out", you're not gonna be getting better. Besides, Oda puts all of his focus on adventure and moving forward (if you want interaction, there's always plenty IN the arcs themselves), not spending an entire arc sitting around and reminiscing or talking about stuff.

This is not Naruto or Bleach.

>They just straight up don't give a fuck.

yeah, basically this. One piece is very direct and straight forward about interaction and cuts most if any actual "bonding" we may see. If it were not for the flashbacks or sob fests, I'd think the strawhats were pretty shallow and flat characters. Real asskickers and fun, but flat.
>> No. 27297
>>27296
>I'd think the strawhats were pretty shallow and flat characters

For the most part they are. If you remember when they're falling down to Fishman Island, Usopp asks if they want to hear about his adventures with Heracles, and Nami cuts him off and says (if I remember) "maybe some other time"; which is cue for "it's never gonna happen."

No, you explain to me why a man who was born into, raised and border-line traumatized by the justice of the Marines and World Government suddenly turn into not only a pirate, but an underworld broker with ties to Doflamingo and slavery interested in the mass murdering experiments of a mad scientist pirate. And try not to include the words "cause of magic" in your explanation. Literally the only reason you say it's Lucci is because he has puffy hair and a hat.
So why is this guy not up for consideration?

Now see, that's a better response than your previous one. Try posting like that more often.

As for Lucci, the cover arc showed he's in no debt to the WG or Marines and he does enjoy killing (the point of all of them joining CP9), so I wouldn't count him out.
>> No. 27311
>>27307

Well there was that whole "the WG and marines actively trying to hunt CP9 down and murder them" thing from their cover story. I could see someone having some moderate to severe changes in ideals under those circumstances. Heck, all of CP9 is currently both wanted and on a boat. That's, like, a pedantic rationalization away from being an OP world pirate. Actually, now that I think about it, as a government agent Lucci might have known about Punk and Clown, and he realized that any murder weapon made by them would be pretty useful for not getting killed by the WG.

Wait why am I even arguing this all I wanted was a quality online reader that has the entire Punk Hazard arc, a-bloo bloo bloo

Yeah, but like Mr Feisty there mentioned, this one is at least the whole magazine on hiatus. Sometimes one of Oda's personal breaks is unreasonably close to these double issues, but eh, you can't really do anything about it. Plus with the movie being pretty much Strong World 2 it's no surprise we have to sit through Strong World Hiatuses 2, as well. It sucks now but it'll be sort of worth it in like a year when the subbed film comes out. Maybe. Probably not.
